Den Reveal! Den Reveal! Celebrate the Den Reveal!

We're pretty much basically almost practically done painting the den!!!!!!  Yipee!
Technically this picture was taken during the winter when my girls found out school was cancelled, but seriously...imagine me just as jubilant when I walk into that formerly devilish room!

"But, dear psycho woman, what is all this "almost" chatter?  What the heck are you doing posting when it's not totally finished?"

To which I respond "Duh!  I've watched enough HGTV to know that it only has to be good enough to photograph."

Translation: There is a wall (or 3) that are still not quite done, but YOU don't need to know that in order to appreciate the awesomeness of this transformation, right? And remember, you can click on any of the photos to make them ginormous.

So let me remind you what it looked like the day we got here...

And what it looked like the day we started painting (again, I've watched enough HGTV to know that you do NOT clean up the room for the 'before' picture.  In fact, if you can find some soiled laundry and a wet dog to further disgustify the photo, all the better)...

Okay seriously....are y'all ready for this (dun dun dun dundundundun dun dun dun dundundun)?

SHAZAM!

 KACHOW!

BLAZAM!
around the room for another...POW!

BLAM!

and another little turn to the right for a final VOILA!

Now imagine me singing this (insert down arrow here) because I totally am.

  3. It's a relief just to look at the pictures of how much brighter that room is so I am very sure it's a huge relief to actually have it done! Yippee!

  4. Great job! (I wish this comment were more interesting but "great job" is all I've got today. At least I managed an exclamation point.)

  5. Thanks, guys! I feel the need to

    1) observe that Paul spends a lot of time with his head on the floor when he pushes his cars around and

    2) explain that we ran out of paint before we could do the girls' bedroom doors. So we will do them too...eventually

    :)

  8. Somebody purposely put down a red carpet? It looks so much brighter now that you've transformed it. Great job!

  10. Can you come over and help me do my new place up? Because girl, you've got talent! To transform that hideous room into what it is? Awesome. It actually looks like a room that someone would want to voluntarily spend time with, unlike its previous incarnation.

  12. Beautiful transformation! Amazing. I wish I had the nerve to paint the redwood interior of the cabin. The redwood is so beautiful and yet it makes the room so dark....

  13. Why on Earth would you get rid of that blood carpet?

It looks fabulous and I can only imagine how refreshing it is to see the change. Congratulations!

  16. No way, that is not even the same house. Ya'll just moved, didn't tell us, and revealed it as the new den, right?! Haha. You did an AMAZING job on this. I bet ya'll are enjoying the heck out it now!

  18. It looks great, and like the carpet isn't very likely infested with bugs anymore. That red carpet was creeping me out. It looked like something lived in it. Great job!!

  21. Your enthusiasm is contagious! Ka-Chow! :) Hooray for a new den! I would take your old den if it meant some of these toys lived somewhere other than my living room, but one day I'll have a home as nice as yours :)

  23. You have me cracking up over here, Dweej.

Were you scared in the before room? It looks like a place for satanic worship.

But OH MAN the after! It doesn't look like the same house even. So bright and cheery! You guys did an awesome job.

  24. It WAS scary! We put in new carpet right away. Like, before there was running water, there was a new carpet, because there was NO WAY I was going to let my kids even touch that floor. It was smelly, too!

  25. Totally just heard a chorus of angels singing about those After pictures!!

  26. LOL! I too have learned this from HGTV. Awesome job, what a transformation paint can make. Love it!

  27. Suh-WEET! I liked the old red carpet that screamed brothel/psychotic killer lair. I'll bet it smelled real, real nice. But seriously, it looks like you added space just by painting it.

  28. Oh honey...it was FRAGRANT. Wow. Just thinking about it makes me a little whoozie...

  30. So stunning! You must feel amazing after that dungeon! Your house looks huge, did you all have any idea of the size of it before you moved?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks! We did know how many square feet it had, but we didn't know any specific room measurements. We totally tried to figure it out by measuring the ariel view of the house using Google Earth. By the way, that room is a total of 526 sq. ft. My arm hurts!

  32. So bright and airy! Painting wood paneling is so much harder than it looks. Can I just say I love the kid rolling around on the floor?

    ReplyDelete
  33. You are hilarious!!!! And I know all about fragrant carpet... oh yes :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. That red carpet is soooo funny! It is unbelievable that it was in vogue once upon a time. Seriously?? My mother was the envy of her friends because she had this carpet in her first home! Ugh, gagging!!!

I can't believe how fresh the room is now - you can practially smell the freshness through the computer screen!

  35. What a great transformation! Love the sound effects that came with each shot!! Hilarious!

  36. Dweej, it looks AMAZING!! I remember when my parents painted their old wood paneling...it was quite a moment. Great job!
