If you were here with me now, we'd be sharing this loaf of banana bread. You'd hear the Canadian geese announcing their arrival as they swoop down in pairs onto our pond. The morning song birds are singing. Dew covers the grass. We're getting a late start today, but that's okay. I mean,
you're here
. And we are sharing this banana bread, after all
Yes, everything you've heard is true. Spring has definitely arrived in the midwest!
{pretty}
I adore the way maple leaves begin, red and filled with potential.
Surprise! Last year's Easter flowers bloomed after all!
{happy}
Our garden is about as far along as any in Michigan can be right now and that makes me SO happy. Radishes, turnips, leeks, and onions all sprouting. Peas and lettuce and a collection of other goodies in the warm soil, just waiting to make their appearance.
Will the lilac bush flower this year? Oh I hope so!
The wild black raspberries with their purple stalks promise the sweet deliciousness of summer.
And the crabapple tree says "Yes! I'm back!". The chickens wait patiently around the trunk for their favorite treat.
{funny}I'll have to let you guys decide what's going on here....
{real}
Can you find two goats in this picture? They: happily munching at the underbrush. We: happily saying goodbye to the underbrush!
Yep. This is real, too.
Ooooooh, if you want to read about how homeschooling made my life easier (and might do the same for you!), check out today's post at Catholic Exchange. Just give it a little clicky-clicky, will ya?
Oh it most definitely has sprung! This line: I adore the way maple leaves begin, red and filled with potential.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more.
Also, I love the real. Living without blinders is the only way to go. And can I share your fresh raspberries the next time? Although I just bet the banana bread is delicious!
Alita
Spring is awesome, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteyour maple buds are a little bit futher along then ours. but we just want the sap inside the tree these days. who ever thought you could actually get sick of pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast?
ReplyDeleteI see the goats! I sure could use them myself for our non-composting pile of brush!
Beautiful pictures! I feel like our growth around here is soooooo slow compared to every one else! Can you sense the bitterness?? I hope not ;)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I would LOVE to come over for some banana bread. Yes, please!?! Have a great day, lady!
love the boy in the cage picture. I believe I have one of those too. Boy in cage picture that is. How I miss pretty happy funny real, need to commandeer dh's laptop to down load my photos, since my ports are still broken.
ReplyDeleteOk just found your blog-bookmarked!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading more and being inspired.
I wish I was there, eating banana bread with you! And not just because I'm staring at six inches of snow out the window. :)
ReplyDeleteMy onions haven't sprouted! *sob*
ReplyDeleteWe need to borrow your goats to tame our underbrush. They're easy to mail, right?
Is there a flat rate box that's 4 foot cubed or something....?
DeleteMy huge deck pots greeted me with Hostas poking up through the soil this morning. If I had some of your Banana Bread to go along with my coffee, that moment would have been ever so much more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteLove Cage Boy. He seems so content.
Hugs!
Beautiful, fun shots. How are those goats of yours doing?
ReplyDeleteThey're getting better! The daughter is great, the mom will soon be great. They just needed some real care- deworming, hoof trimming and LOTS and LOTS of food. We'll probably be able to have some baby goats by next spring. And then MILK!
DeleteYou will love it!
DeleteYou should market those kid cages. I'll take five, please (two extra large, for teenagers).
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your pictures of spring, especially as I am staring at an incredible four inches of snow right now. I am glad to see it really is spring somewhere! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteUgh I love spring until...sneeze, sniffle, cough! Pollen!
ReplyDeleteOooh, bummer...my husband suffers from allergies too. And apparently at least one of my kids! I'm so lucky. No allergies for me, so I get all the fun and none of the boogers :)
DeleteI love your pictures and the description that go along with them, they paint a perfect picture of the arrival of spring with all its lovelines.s
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and great introduction up there on the header as well, I might add.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures, and cage-boy is pretty funny!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of these happy pictures of spring...and the boy in the cage, and the girl with the messy face ;)
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Dweej! Glad you're enjoying this awesome weather!!
Love it. Spring. And those sweet boy and girl pictures.
ReplyDeleteSuch cheerful, spring-y pictures make me happy!
ReplyDeleteDamn, and we thought our radish sprouts were so BA but compared to yours they're pitiful. Although our maple tree is starting to get some beautiful red leaves as well. So pretty! And just to clarify that our yards are identical we also have a crabapple that is just starting to bloom! Great minds...
