Talking to a Two Year Old
Mama! I'm awake! I need to go outsiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide!
Hey, why is all your stuff on the floor?
Because I was cwyin'
Why were you crying?
Because I don't have no pants on.
Why did you take your pants off?
Because I need to get up.
And I want to go outside. And put my pants on.
*********
And that, my friends, is why moms need internet access. Because otherwise they might start thinking that this is what conversations are supposed to sound like.

When my grandmother was raising her children, she would kick them outside, lock the door, and tell them, "See you when the streetlights come on".
ReplyDeleteThen she'd go over to the neighbor's house, and have afternoon wine and conversation in the living room.
The world has changed, and while I have been known to lock my children out of the house on nice days, I no longer have the same recourse to streetlight curfews, neighbors, or wine that my grandma did.
But I do have the Interwebz! And that's how I know I'm going to make it!
I call my 2-year-old daughter "The Pantsless Wonder." Violet is just her alter ego.
ReplyDeleteMakes perfect sense to me. Clearly I need to spend more time on the computer!
ReplyDeleteSounds about right. The quality of conversation increases so much between the ages of 2 and 4 (I have one of each), it's startling how quality a conversation i can have with my 4 year old. Although the neighbors do think she doesn't own any clothes - she still constantly strips: naptime comfort, changing for dressup, getting out of muddy playclothes. And then once in a while she strips totally naked, runs into the room, and says "I'm nakey! ...look at my booty! booty booty booty!" (I have no idea where this came from - I promise that i'm trying to teach her modesty, but it's difficult when i'm giggling)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE 2-year-olds and yours is super adorable!!!! Great convo!!! hehehe
ReplyDeleteHahahahahaha!!! She is AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteLol! Too cute and too funny. She is adorable, and can't believe how much she has grown this past fall and summer. Hope you have been doing well and feeling comfortable! ;)
ReplyDeleteHmm sounds like very logical reasoning to me. Well, I have had 6 two year olds by now so I guess it just rubs off on you eventually!
ReplyDeletep.s.you will be so glad in a couple of years that you have this written down.
UNfortunately, that is similar to my current conversations with my FOUR YEAR OLD. Only more confusing. If that's possible.
ReplyDeletejust checked my WW pic....yep, no pants. which is sadder, that she doesn't care, or that I don't even notice anymore?
ReplyDeletemakes sense to me.... wait, what?
ReplyDeleteGosh I love toddlers!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother one who can totally relate! Got to love 2 yr old conversations!
ReplyDeleteHoley Moley, that is vaguely like a conversation I have had with my 16 y/o daughter.
ReplyDeleteLOL! SO true!! My son (13) just got out of the shower. I swear I just asked him to put his pants on! He still thinks its ok to walk around in his underwear!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank goodness it's not just me who has conversations like that.
ReplyDeleteWhile I love this converstion, I equally love the fact that she's just hanging out playing with her belly button in the picture. She's such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I love it! The worst is when you start to talk like them. I swear I can't have normal adult conversations anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love how this makes perfect sense to her!!! :)
