This is the rock that made the hole that gave me a heart attack

This is the rock.

This is the rock that got hit by the blade.

This is the rock that got hit by the blade that is on the lawnmower that the husband used.

This is the rock that got hit by the blade that is on the lawnmower that the husband used to mow the lawn.

This is the rock that got hit by the blade that is on the lawnmower that the husband used to mow the lawn which hit the window on the side of the house.

This is the rock that got hit by the blade that is on the lawnmower that the husband used to mow the lawn which hit the window on the side of the house and managed to break through a screen and two panes of glass and bounce off the back of a sofa.

This is the hole the rock made.

This is the girl waiting by the phone hoping that the window company, who promised that windows would be replaced free of charge for any reason, has not mysteriously gone out of business and will call her back soon.

Because, um, HAVE YOU SEEN THE HOLE IN THE WINDOW CAUSED BY THE ROCK THAT GOT HIT BY THE BLADE THAT IS ON THE LAWNMOWER THAT THE HUSBAND USED????

Yeah, that's what I thought.

    1. It is a thankful, miraculous miracle that no one was hurt. Not by the rock or by any glass. Scary!

  2. Can I use the phrase, "Holy freaking crap" on your blog? Because that's my first choice.
If not, I totally understand, and will substitute it with the Downton Abbey-esque "I say, old chap! That's a doozie of a rock, a wot, wot. Let's retire to the drawing room for cigars and brandy!"

  4. Good Lord! That is one honkin' rock! I am so glad that none of the kids were in the way! Has your heart resumed normal sinus rhythm yet?

  6. That is so very frightening. I'm so thankful no one was hurt or worse. This happened to a friend many years ago, too. No injuries either, thankfully. I am writing this, BTW, while my husband is mowing lawn just feet away from my office window.

  7. Oh my. Thankfully it's just the window and not a small person. Or a chicken.

Hope you get the replacement soon!

  8. Good grief! If I were you I would have gone into premature labor.

  9. When my parents had their first home,my father cut off part of his finger while mowing the lawn. He became a lawn mower safety addict after that. He'd get anxious if anyone was in the yard or neighboring yards when he mowed--knowing what a rock could do (even though his accident had nothing to do with a rock, go figure.) If he were alive to read this, he'd never allow a mow again if anyone was in the house, in the neighboring houses, etc.

Can't say that I'd blame him.

    Eep!

  12. Holy crap! That is a terrifyingly ugly hole in your window. So, so grateful no one was hurt!

And thank you for your post on CE. My oldest girl is about to turn 11 in a few short weeks, and we are seeing inklings of everything you mentioned. She has been such a sweet, loving girl, so it's totally like she's being taken over by a snippy, bossy alien being from planet Emo. I'm so grateful for "heads up" posts from people who have kids a year older than mine!
