Not the Labor Whisperer

I am not the labor whisperer.

I am just a very pregnant woman praying.

Praying for the intercession of St. Gerard.

Praying for patience.

Praying that these contractions stop so I can sleep or they get stronger so I can meet my baby.

Either one would be fine, but the latter would be great.

But one thing's for sure- I am not the labor whisperer.  I did not manage to outfox God.

  9. I guess that would be the silver lining to planned C sections (had gestational diabetes and big babies)...no waiting game. you know exactly when the baby will arrive. although hubby wanted to do the whole "sex will make you go into labour" thing still. men are so dumb.
my cousin started labour by riding the lawn tractor....just sayin.
hang in there and may His Peace be upon you.

  11. The candle is still burning, Dwija, and I (and a number of my friends) are praying for you!

Charles got a rosary from our Bishop that he brought back from his recent ad limina visit to the Holy Father. Bishop Burns prayed a rosary for Charles at the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi, and tomorrow, I am going to use it to say a rosary for you! God bless you my friend, and give you a peaceful rest.

  12. With #3 and 4 of mine I was just having hard time breathing, once I hit 38 weeks, so I did the induction. Probably the fact that I had pain breathing and child #2 went 11 days late was also part of it. Not sure if this is option for you, Dwija. I was a little scared the first time, but that was due to bad OB on baby #1 and #2 increasing pitocin too quickly on me. I had just the best OB for #3 and 4.

God bless you, your baby who will see you soon, and your family!

  13. Oh sweet, Dwija! Praying for you over here! Can't wait to "meet" that little one.

  14. Dwija, I was 6 days late with my last baby, when I was ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY SURE that he would be at least 2 weeks early. By 40 w 6 d I was a freaking maniac.

In the end though (of course) he had his own reasons for choosing his birthday. I will pray for some sleep for you first, and then a baby. No-good to go into full-blown labor while tired.

    Hugs and prayers.

  15. Praying for you!! (And not just so I can win the baby pool, which I believe would be you having the baby tomorrow) But seriously, thoughts and prayers.

  18. Love you, Dweej, and praying for you! You can do this. You're gonna take on labor like it's nothing you'll be so ready for it.

  19. I second Colleen's suggestion. ;-) Even if it doesn't work, it's a win-win.

  20. Try some " chicago" style hot dogs with sport peppers or pepperoncini or giardinera ...this worked for my first. Can you go to a pool? Floating around might take some pressure off, physically and emotionally. Prayers!

  23. You are a TROOPER mama. Praying for you to either go into labor or black out until it's all over. Oh it seems so recently I was there myself...Also, please go get a pedicure and/or foot massage asap. Trust me.

  24. I convinced myself that my baby was never coming. I must have rea he'd an insanely irrational place...because vleven when my water broke (fully) andco fractions were very. Lose I still wasn't convinced it wouldn't fizzle. I wasn't convinced until I suddenly felt her body shoot out of me. It wasthat point that I realized "oooh it actually is real!"

Denial is an awesome coping mechanism. :0D praying for you. The last days of my pregnancies are dark hard times. So hard feeling *so* done and not knowing when your life is going to finally change again...forever. You know it is worth it.<3

  26. Hang in there. Those last few days (weeks) are the hardest, as you obviously know! Soon that baby will be in your arms and all this exasperation will seem like it was long ago!- SHS

  27. Hang in there. My last baby was 12 days late--we were hoping to schedule an induction when I hit 40 weeks but went in for my regular appointment, only to find out that BOTH doctors were out of town. (WHO DOES THAT?) The nurse practitioner fell over herself promising that the on call docs were just as good, but I didn't trust them. Waited until after July 4th and scheduled an induction for July 8...12 days after my due date. And yes, that baby is just as stubborn as he was then, but oh so sweet at the same time. Well worth the wait!

  28. Hey, just think of how much more your cervix has dialated since your last midwife check. You may be at six centemeters by now. Your labor will be short and sweet. Hang in there, Lady!

  29. Praying for you too! prodriminal (sp?) is brutal. I had it with my second...never dilated anything though, so you are in much better shape :) soon!!!! It isnt easy I remember. With my first I went 41 weeks 3 days in the middle of August in So. FL. My Mom had already been visiting two weeks lol. Praying for active labor very, very soon (tonight would be great) and a very healthy safe delivery.

  30. I can relate to this one! I've had over a weeks worth of barely-any-progress contractions with my last three boys before finally giving birth. Been kicked out of the hospital three times too (made my husband learn how to check my dilation for the last one so they couldn't tell me I wasn't "progressing" and send me home!) Discovered I may create an enormous amount of amniotic fluid, so they are more likely swimming in a wave machine instead of actually trying to be born. My advice: clean your house a lot. Especially the floors. It'll make you feel productive and you'll get to have a clean house for the baby! AND it will pass the time! Prayers for you and the little!
