LIST POSTS.
Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes indeed, I do love me a list post. Anyway, so I see I've got some new visitors from Faith & Family Live! today (Hey, y'all! Crack open a beer if you're not pregnant! Although if you're here because of that thread then you probably are. So, um, have some super exciting water, then? Yay! Water!), and since you came because of lists, I'll take that as a sign that another list is in order.
Hold onto your seats folks because it's time for....
Top 10 Photos from Mary's Baptism on Sunday (TTPMBS for short)

Don't be fooled by the size of those cheeks and forearms- the enormous child is barely 2 months old |
(2)
"Focus, focus. Pay no attention to the screaming toddlers fighting over sippy cups. MY screaming toddlers. |
(3)
One of the screaming toddlers. Right after she was foiled in her attempts to knock over the baptismal candle. |
(4)
The big moment- and approximately exactly when Cecilia started yelling "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY BABY????" |
(5)
Parents, godparents, priests, baby, toddlers and that electrocuted badger on top of my head. |
(6)
"That was really hard work, guys." |
(7)
3 slow cookers of delicious, delicious glorious food. "Pull here for sandwiches" |
(8)
My screamer changed and got her key-ring of awesomeness- then was quite hospitable to sweet Ben, son of Rhonda of A Naptime Novelist. That faker. |
(9)
She was also QUITE fond of the baby's gifts. Including the size 6-12 month jacket that she forced me to put on her. It was 90 degrees out. |

Yay! Baptism! Delicious and gorgeous cake, handmade by Mary's sweet godmother. |
It was a great day, full of love and joy, food and drink. And 2 priests who stayed at our house until 11 p.m. discussing subtle nuances of liturgical music and Greek translations of the New Testament with a certain husband of mine who was very, very happy.
"Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine, there's always laughter and good red wine.
At least I've always found it to be so. Benadicamos Domino!" ~Hilaire Belloc
Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteARRRRGH. Hang on. I'm going to fix the whole I-wasn't-there-thing. Will be in your inbox shortly.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Sweet baby, sweet, happy family.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile today! What beautiful memories you shared!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And that end quote is my favorite. I have it hanging on my bulletin board at work!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteI love that super cute, beautiful, chunky baby pic! I hope that now that we are in a small town we will have the opportunity to get to know our priest on a more personal level, where it was not possible in the large city we were in previously.
ReplyDeleteAnd that end quote is awesome! I have never heard it before!
I can almost smell the chrism oil. My favorite post baptism baby smell!!
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet little family so much!! Congrats on such a big day!!
ReplyDeleteMARY!! She's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd is it weird that I found Ceci's "What are you doing to my baby?" thingy really sweet and adorable?
Congrats on Mary's baptism! What a beautiful gown too.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at the priests' late departures. Somehow we always have religious folk hanging around on our deck discussing liturgical abuses, sacred music and other papist what-not until the wee hours over cigars and aged scotch at our parties.
I hope you weren't cleaning up alone that night. Or do you just leave everything until the next morning? Sipping coffee from a red Solo and eating leftover chili with eggs.
Dude, have you been spying on me? 'Cause that is *exactly* what happened the next day.
DeleteThe joy on your face in #4...words fail.
ReplyDeleteYummy baby!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, I love baptisms! Such a beautiful day :) Oh, and that cake? Can I have a piece in the mail? I'll pay postage. (Wait, is that gross?? Yes, yes it is...)
ReplyDeleteWelcome Marybel :) What a beautiful, fun day. Is her godmother your sister, cuz you look like twins.
ReplyDeleteHi Colleen,
DeleteIt's the godmother here. That is such a sweet compliment to me, but maybe not so much for Dwija.... You did notice the large abdominal protrusion...mine could never rival the size of Dee's at 9 months! BTW, we're just friends!
Oh my gosh. My torpedo belly was the torpedoest ever!
DeleteRelated (not to the bellies, but to the original question)- my uncle totally asked if Tommy if he and Jeff were brothers. It was awesome!
Welcome, Mary, new creation, sister of Christ and daughter of God! Congratulations!
ReplyDelete(New reader here who came over from F&F Live -- you are living an alternate version of my life -- right down to the DH who is happiest discussing minute details of Catholicism at 11 p.m.)
Um, you know who the real faker was? Benedict. Case-in-Point - he just screamed his entire way through a necessary and necessarily long trip to Meijer. He was being super-good for you all. Maybe it was the goats.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's Ben, I think it's Meijer, Rhonda. As a matter of fact I myself screamed the whole way to and through it today. And I still forgot the peanut butter!!!! He was super sweet, and you are, too!
DeleteHahahaha!!! Girl, you are on fire today! Laughing so hard at this image...
DeleteWhat a perfect, memorable, maybe even saintly, day.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say, sacramental shin-dig or not, Tommy is one of the best cooks ever! You're so lucky, Dwija!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an amazing day, with great family, friends & even a great story to tell thanks to C! :-) The cake looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What a blessing, and looks like a good time was had by all. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What a beautiful top ten. :)
ReplyDeleteThe caption for number four made me burst out laughing. LOL
Thanks for sharing your special day with us.
So what you're saying is that her name is Mary and SHE WAS BAPTIZED ON MY (32nd but almost the Jesus number) BIRTHDAY!?!?!?!?! Soul sisters she and I.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and welcome, little Mary!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! Happy Baptism baby Mary! And I think all baptism of third-plus children should be held privately so we can ignore the shenanigans of our older children while we try to pay attention to the sacrament!!
