Nasty-tastic Hair Update (and you could win!)

You know that thing about the squeaky wheel getting the grease?  Well consider me well-oiled, my friends.  Because first I complained about my atrocious Bride-o'-Frankenstein hair and then I got free Dove Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner in the mail.

They must have noticed that my plight was super dee duper dire.

Check it out.

What do you notice first?  Exactly. That I take all my photos on my sofa.  But secondly, it's in a fancy pants tube and not in a large jug with a pump a la everything I normally buy.  So you can pick it up and actually squeeze out the desired amount, which is quite helpful if you have children cleansing their own tresses who can barely lift the ginormous regular containers and who then subsequently use a minimum of 18 ounces of product per shampooing.

Also, the stuff is thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.  Thick thick thick thick thickity thick.  Like, imagine that the cheapest, useless conditioner out there is the consistency of that watery layer on the top of your plain yogurt, and then your regular conditioner is the consistency of the yogurt itself.  Well, this Dove conditioner is the consistency of mayonnaise, but in a good way.  Not a bad way, nope not at all.  This is also helpful with regards to the small people who normally proceed to drop 3/4 of their hair care products after glopping it out of the enormous jug, because this will stick to their hands and not slop through their fingers and then down the drain.

And I love the smell.  It's an expensive soapy smell, not a fruity or perfumey smell.  And y'all know how much I love me my bar soap.

But how does it WORK, dweej?  Get to the good stuff, woman!

Okay, first, here's what they say about it: Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner with weightless nutri-oils dramatically transforms & smooths even extra dry, rough & frizzy hair.

And here's what I say about it: It comes out white with a band of gold (a "golden ribbon of treatment" as Dove calls it) and I have no idea if that actually makes any real difference or if they do it solely to make you feel fancy, but guess what?  It TOTALLY makes you feel fancy.  Like "check me out with my dual-toned salon quality conditioner that's super thick and smells delicious instead of that watery cheap stuff I tried  to use that turned my hair into brillo.  I should complain about stuff more often!"

Now I've got to get real honest here for a second.  The first time I used it, I didn't really notice an improvement.  But my husband said the mop looked better, so I decided to give it another try, this time using an amount proportionate to the quantity of hair on my head which, if you were to measure, equals, scientifically speaking, "a lot".  And when I did that, I did notice a difference- most remarkably that after I combed and blowed, I could still run my fingers through my hair without hitting gigantic, tangled, mini rat's nests.

Dread locks be gone!

I've even started hiding it when I get out of the shower so no one else can use it.  So that says something important right there....

EDITED 9/5 TO ADD: I seriously need someone to come and photograph my hair because only AFTER publishing this has it reached epic levels of shiny smoothness.  Epic!  Shininess!  Hope I'm allowed to print coupons that originate on my own blog...

And  hey- as your prize for reading this, now you've got a link to a snazzy Dove coupon down there AND a chance to win a $1,000 Spafinder gift card (a thousand is a lotta dollars). Lucky day! Just clicky the clickster and tell us how you normally choose your conditioner.  Is it the fragrance? A recommendation from a friend? The price?  Spill!

  4. I loved this post! I don't have time for my hair so I chopped it all off (well, I didn't, a lovely student at the Paul Mitchell School did - took her FOUR HOURS and it was totally worth it because it was only TWELVE DOLLARS and that's cheap in SoCal. SO CHEAP!) so I'm living vicariously through you.
