JAZZ HANDS! |
See, I force my poor 11 year old daughter to take these photos of me (when it's my husband, they are so bad. So very bad. And I know he's just sabotaging seeing as he's truly an artistical genius and junk) so I feel like I owe her payment of some sort. But since I'm a total tight-wad, I pay her in jigs. That's cool, right? 11 year olds like jigs, yes?
Anyway, so she took these, like, 3 hours ago and then I was all "I won't be the last person to link-up after all!" but then all that life stuff happened in between and I got all domestic-ish on this Christmas Adam and I threw (not literally) some banana bread into the oven and started the bread machine and tossed (not literally) some Rust Out into the dishwasher (file under: I hate cleaning things that are supposed to clean things). And then the baby woke up. But lo! The husband is not at work! Baby Duty O'clock, senor.
Oh yeah, we also went to Mass this morning.
Snazzy merino/rabbit sweater: Banana Republic (there's something about the 3/4 sleeves and bateau that makes my love affair with this timeless top continue even after six years. Does that sound like a line out of Lucky magazine?)
Dark skinny jeans: Apt. 9 via Kohl's
The boots, the boots, the daily-wear boots: Croft & Barrow via Kohl's
Cheapo pink cubic zirconia studs
Glorious $0.99 Goodwill belt
Not one, not two, but THREE necklaces. I don't know. Without truly obnoxious earrings I had to bump things up a notch
Nota bene- don't judge me and my alternative afternoon beer-drinking lifestyle, okay? If you had an Arcadia IPA in your house, you'd be drinking it too and you know it!
Fake boot socks made out of sleeves cut from a bright green turtleneck that I was never ever ever going to wear again (high five for thrifty genius).
Happy best long weekend evah!
Can you come over and teach me how to dress? Or, better yet, dance?
ReplyDeleteI can see it now- a new TLC show combining poor dancing with cheap fashions. It'll be a hit!
DeleteSet in drafty drafty Michigan to boot! Or to Mitten.
DeleteYou remind me of Cynthia at Finding Great Joy. She has similar moves.
ReplyDeleteLove the socks!
Great get up!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to rember to cut clothes up for my boots. :)
The whole post I kept thinking "I have to comment on the awesome socks!" and then I find out they are a cut up turtleneck!? GENIUS!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!!! Boot socks?!?! Who even knew this was a thing?
DeleteI'm telling you- these WIWS linkups are my fashion education for the week. Every week.
Bahaha! Because there's nothing that makes an eleven year old love their mother more than watching her dance right?!
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm still a little confused about boot socks. I think you have to have lady like calves or something because my weird/stumpy/pudgy legs almost never find boots that can zip up to the top, let alone fit a cute sock in between said leg and boot. It's a bummer.
Skinny jeans on a skinny lady. Buhbye baby weight!!!
ReplyDeleteNo Arcadia in da house, but we do have 5...oops..hubbys working on one...4 Olde 22 from Ann Arbor Brewing..enough of those and I will freaking do a jig at Christmas eve mass. While hubby is lectoring...and jr is altar serving...it will be a family affair...
ReplyDeleteCute boot socks lady! ;) You were made for skinny jeans.
ReplyDeleteI am on the PROWL for a sweater to cut up....genius!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had an 11 year old slave. Mine is growing slowly, and is the less helpful gender.
Love the eyes to accompany the jazz hands...really makes the finale pop...hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteGenius! What an awesome idea with the boot socks. Totally digging. Also, your posts haven't been showing up in my RS
ReplyDeleteS so I'm going to unsubscribe andresubscribe. No idea what happened to my comment here...
ReplyDeleteMy husband seems to prefer pictures of me when I look absolutely, positively psycho. I think it's safe to say that while he's relatively enthused to take my picture every week... I don't really trust him.
ReplyDeleteMy mind is blown. Sleeves for boot socks? Genius pop of color.
ReplyDeleteI took apart the turtleneck and used all the pieces (neck, sleeves, body) for different things. I know. I KNOW!
DeleteI know everyone is already saying it but boot socks from an old turtleneck! My mind is blown. I'm running off to grab scissors and old shirts right now. And dancing, thank you. Next time I break into a spontaneous cabbage patch and my kids roll their eyes, I'm going to reassure them that I'm not the only mom out there who dances. And now I have actual visual proof that at least one other mom has moves like Jagger. They'll either think I'm less weird or we're both weird; I'm fine either way.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Your second photo makes me wanna say "Holla!" Fake boot socks... I've been meaning to do those... forever on my to-do list.
ReplyDeleteWe actually have tap shoes at our house (garage sale) and I have never tried them. Of course it is hard to do jazz hands with one's arm in a sling...
ReplyDeleteGreat dance moves. Love the necklace(s). Awesome faux boot sock idea. And, love your sweater. It looks fab on you! So, by all means... keep that thing forever! :)
ReplyDeleteDwija, I love absolutely everything in this post.
ReplyDeleteYou are my hero. That is all.
ReplyDeleteFaux boot socks? I think I need to find me some scissors and an old top. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteLove the boots! been on a hunt for cute pair to replace my old Aldo's... I was on the Kohl's website looking for keurig (don't ask how I ended up in the shoe dept from the home/kitchen dept -- my hand just had a mind of its own clicking links away....) and saw these boots. They LOOK GOOD ON YOU!
ReplyDeleteLooking SKINNY, Mama....and the boot socks...genius! Just genius! Mighty put together all around!!
