God is berry, berry schneaky...

I’m starting to think God was on to something when he came up with this whole kid-raisin’ scheme. I mean, I imagine he could have made it so that we popped out of enormous eggs fully grown or matured inside a pod growing on some oversize vine. But he didn’t. He decided people would start out as babies: helpless, fragile, tyrannical little things. And that parents would start out as…well…helpless, fragile, tyrannical things, too. And together, in that mystical way that only God is clever enough to orchestrate, those two helpless, fragile, tyrannical things can work together to bring one another closer to eternal happiness. Pretty wild, right?

Lately I’ve been forcing myself to marvel at this fact (you know, to keep my mind off the muddy paw prints in the carpet and that place where someone broke a pen and forgot to tell me about it) and...

Stream of Consciousness

The hubby hates it when he can't find his tools.  Lordy, lordy, it is not pretty, no sir.  Luckily I'm pretty much the world's most awesome wife and found the caulking gun in the basement and the staple gun in the barn.

Also, it's a good thing you can't see my house or the state of the laundry.  Oy.  The weekend always makes a huge (literal) mess of my life.

Stuff You're Gonna Love

In case you haven't noticed, I get excited about things.  In real life I hop around and do happy Wallace & Grommit hands about all sorts of things.  You know, like homemade salsa and a $6.99 bread machine from the thrift store.

Do you wanna know what I'm doing happy Wallace & Grommit hands about right now?

10 Books to Read with your Kids

Well, I started feeling a teeny tiny bit guilty.  Okay, not really.  Lemme start over.

I started feeling a teeny tiny bit guilty that I DON'T feel guilty that all of a sudden a zillion (only a slight exaggeration) new people (Hello, new people!  Hope you love parentheses!) are visiting my blog and the first post they see is of my husband cross-dressing as a pregnant woman.

Scientific 31 Week Photo Comparison

The other day, I scarred the facebook page by posting a comparison between myself now and myself when I was similarly 31 weeks pregnant with Cecilia.  It was painful.

7 Quick Takes Friday- Goats and Annoying Homeschoolers

This day.  It just completely got away from me!  I mean, almost 5 o'clock already???  So I will be super speedy in that super speedy way that is super speedy.  Because hubby has been working outdoors all day IN THE RAIN and when he comes home I want to at least have an idea of what's for dinner.  So I can pretend to be a good wife and all.

Ready?  Go!
We made delicious pies on Saturday at a friend's house- and just look at how serious and cute my little nugget is.  Matching rolling pin and everything!

A Gorgeous Pile of Poo {p.h.f.r.}

I've been waiting all day for naptime (just like every other mother on the planet) and thinking about what I might say in this post.  But I can't think.  You wanna know why?  Because every time I get to the "real" part in my head, my brain says "It's gettin' REAL in the Whole Foods parkin' lot....".  And if you don't know what I'm talking about, I am fixin' to MAKE. YOUR. DAY.

Top 10 things NOT to buy if you're pregnant

Oh my gosh!  You're pregnant?  Yay!  So exciting!  I mean, yeah, being pregnant pretty much sucks, but there's gonna be a baby!  A brand new person!  All fresh and pink and not arguing yet!

Sigh.  I sure do love it when they're not arguing....

Anyway, the second you peed on the stick, you got your first free issue of American Baby magazine in the mail, amiright?

Video of that mouse "situation"

Remember yesterday, when I almost died because it was the grossest day of my life?  And then my daughter agreed to help me if she could video tape the helping?  I now present to you, in all its screamy glory: That Day with the Drowned Mouse....

5 Tips for Housekeeping with Toddlers

Right now, everyone else in the house is asleep. Everyone. Dogs included. There is a basket full of clean laundry next to the sofa, just begging to be folded, and a sea of toys covering the play room floor, waiting to gouge someone's foot during and impromptu game of contraband indoor tag. Meanwhile, instead of tending to these "issues", I'm toggling back and forth between a document I ought to finish and a screen full of tweets that I definitely do not need to be reading.

In other words, I am clearly the last person who should be doling out homemaking advice.

But I'm going to give it a shot anyway, not because my house is ever ready for a Better Homes & Gardens photo shoot, but because....

Easter Egg Hunt and a Link

Y'all, I'm the worst Easter photographer on earth.  And this year was really bad.  I think...I THINK I managed to get one picture of each child, either blurry or from the back or from really far away, and that's it.  No pics of me or hubby and certainly no pics of all of us together.  Whew, that would be way too much to ask, now wouldn't it?

So here, in their total lack of professionalism glory, are the Easter pictures you've just been dying to see:

What I Remember

12 years ago tonight, I don't remember what I wore.
12 years ago tonight, I can barely remember who was there.
12 years ago tonight, that old life ended and this new one began.

What I do remember...

Practicing for the Beauty Pageant {p.h.f.r}

Can you believe Easter is THIS Sunday?  Lord knows I can't.  Because a) 25% of my children still do not have anything to wear and b) our cupboards are embarrassingly bare.

Also, clearly I am a poet.

Top 10 Ways to Not be Un-Lame

It's that time of year (apparently I have that time of year at least 73 times) when it's hard for me to be, like, un-lame.  In fact, you may have noticed that I'm extremely skilled that this not-being-un-lame thing, especially lately.  And you've wondered "Gosh, how does she do it?  Not be un-lame like this on such a regular basis?"

Wonder no more, foxes, because today is your lucky day.  You are about to learn all my secrety secrets!  You're welcome.
