A real dress and some Lenten gratitude {wiws}

I shouldn't EVEN be blogging right now.  I have a secret thing to make for Ana's link-up, which will probably close before I finish said secret thing and I'll have to cover myself with ashes in mourning.  Such a mess.  BUT I am so very excited to be wearing this dress again that I had to share.

It's even roomy enough that I can perform a very-opposite-of-inconspicuous out-the-neck-hole nursing-access-procedure (in the van or at home.  Not in the pew for this one.  I have some standards.)

Dress- merona for Target (clearance.  I would have never been brave enough to buy this color at full price)

Boots- same precious gems from Kohl's that I've been wearing all fall and winter

Tights- Brown. You pick your fave place.  These are literally over 10 years old from Old Navy.

Earrings + necklace: gift from hubby several years ago.  I just love to pair greens with pinks.

Belt- same $0.99 gem from Goodwill (instead of the self-fabric belt that came with the dress) that I wear all. the. time.

(my 10 year old said "Hmmm, a thick belt with a dress.  I never thought of that.  Good idea."  Go me!)

Also, can we talk about Lent for just a second?  I always feel like it needs to be hard and miserable and if it's not, then I'm doing it wrong.  Or something.  But this year, cabin fever aside, Lent has been...so good.  So far it's felt, I don't know, right.  Like, a spiritual attack comes on and after wallowing for only a few minutes, I've been able to get my wits about me and turn my griping into prayer and it is magically mystically amazing the way the edges of the frustration and anxiousness are immediately smoothed away.  "Lord, thank you for giving me this opportunity to grow in patience.  Thank you for this opportunity to cling to your grace."  Incredible changes to my day.  Thank you, Jesus!

  1. You look great! Dresses and nursing... Can ne'er make them work. Kudos on the Lent! I'm not feeling too hot about mine so far, but I went to confession yesterday and am hoping that removed some of my own obstacles to Lenten holiness. Pleaseprettypleasewithsugarontop?

  2. Ash Wednesday and the first Friday of Lent were both ridiculously, oddly good to me this time around. Weird.

Anywho, I love that color on you- and I wouldn't have thought to pair it w/ peridot, so good on you.

  7. I love the color combination -- I love green with purples and pinks.

And I've got my pile of materials for Ana's craft link-up, but I, too, am worried I'll never make it in time.

Turning my griping into prayer. Yes, I will try that.

  9. Ten year old tights posse - what! what!

Had to nurse Luke during Mass this morning because he started 'asking' and I realized I had totally forgotten to feed him since he woke... I always feel like I have a spotlight shining on me when I have to do it!

    Love the color on you!

    1. Until today, I've had to nurse her pretty much once during every Mass and I do it right there in the pew. I know just what you mean! But baby's gotta eat and mama's gotta go to church. So milky time it is :)

  12. I am also wearing the boots-of-awesomeness today. As I enjoy the 65 degree weather here in the ATL. LOVE Atlanta in the nearly-spring.

  15. I heart raspberry . I think I have a similar dress from Target in Emerald Green! Also dangling earrings work so well for you! I always feel awkward when I wear them. My face is too round or something!

  16. The color of your dress is gorgeous! And the green on your jewelry is my favorite color ever. I've never thought of pairing it with pink but now, I know how great it looks together.

Hope you have a great week!

  18. You are looking lovely! It was oddly weird to read this though as today I wore a dress with the same neckline (for the first time since baby was born also) and did the same nursing maneuver in our van pre-Mass. I also wore brown tights, but I cut the similarities with ankle boots and I don't have a sweet belt like that one! Keep the posts coming - your taste is so fun!

  22. So cute! Seriously, so SO so cute!!!

I'm looking forward to the day of not nursing during Mass... Right now I just have a rule that I'll only nurse one baby at a time during Mass. Discreet nursing with 1? Check. Discreet nursing with 2? Not so much.

    1. wait, maybe that sounds shallow. hard lents are awesome and are so good for lighting fires under our bums and in our hearts but this one has been good and relatively easy for me and i'm so thankful for that because i think it shows that i've grown...and i wanted to write so much more but both of my girls are screaming at me right now so...thanks again! :)

  24. You look fantastic in that color!! And you reminded me of the time I had to nurse my son in the cry room in a shirt that was really too small for the purpose... and totally left the blanket to cover with in the very front pew. Cleared out the cry room, that day. But like you said, a baby's gotta eat!

  28. So, I feel super honored that you commented on my wee blog because you seem to be kinda a big deal in this whole blogging world. Not to mention, I read your article in a MOPs magazine last year. But, the reason I am really commenting (aside from telling you your green and pink combo is really fun) is to inform you that we are related...sorta. Your sister in law is married to my cousin, Ian. Small world, huh? At this point, you may think I am a super stalker, but really I'm not...really! But now I am going to follow your blog and continue to totally not stalk you ;).
