As usual, kickin' things off with a book that doesn't need to be reviewed and that I haven't actually read this week. Go me!
This is one of my favorite books of all time. One of my mother in law's favorite books (Hi mami if you're reading this!) is Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day (stay with me...). That one, Alexander, has now become one of Cecilia's favorite books. The other day I
finally put book and book together and realized that Judith Viorst wrote both of these gems and she is obviously fantastic. I've owned the same copy of
If I Were in Charge of the World and other worries (a collection of poems) since I was...probably 8 years old. It is charming and lovely and funny and great. Fun for kids, fun for adults.
You should get it.

WARNING: Some of the signs in the above link are vulgur. NSFW (not safe for work), NSFHS (not safe for homeschool), NSFMIL (you can see where I'm going with this....)
But you will laugh. Laugh and laugh and laugh!

If you haven't read the original from the funeral home yet, click and read to catch the sweet final sentences that hufpo left out. If you haven't read it at all, grab a tissue first. I was laughing and crying at the same time like some kind of ridiculous fool. Which mostly I am, but still. Incredible.
Yep, still crying. And laughing.
Oh my gosh! #2. I laughed so hard! What a classic kid move.
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, those signs? I laughed until I cried. What on earth is going on with rooster man?
DeleteThose signs are hilarious. The Oreo one killed me.
ReplyDeleteThat cave is so insanely amazing! It is making me crave a new travel adventure like whoa! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat cave looks fabulous! I might be inclined to go camping if it was somewhere really cool like that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great obituary! What an amazing woman she must have been!
ReplyDeleteWhat an obituary!!! We had an awful time with those things when my parents died. Funny and happy is so much nicer than boring and solemn ones that usually happen.
ReplyDeleteLoved the signs. One of my favorite sites is passiveaggressivenotes.com--definitely NSFW/HS/etc but so funny.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the obit. I read them all the time in the paper. This is the best one by far. Wonderful loving person.
ReplyDelete#2 is AWESOME!! Having sons means having a lot to laugh about every single darn day!!

ReplyDeleteHa- #s 2 & 4 are hilarious! Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteThat obituary is beautiful - what a joy. The book I have had for as long as I can remember, without a doubt, is "The Teeny Tiny Woman." Raggedy old copies are the best.
ReplyDeleteI love the obituary. There was an equally great one a month ago as well. As I posted on Facebook, I want to live a life that requires my family to write such an obituary but I know, deep down, that my husband will never do it.
ReplyDeleteEvery single thing on here is worth the read. And that is what I will tell people when I share it.
ReplyDeleteThat is the best obituary I've ever read, thanks so much for sharing it! If only I could be worthy of such an obituary I would consider my life a success :)
