Baby Borobia 2014 is a.....

Have you ever seen a cuter profile?  Pretend you don't have your own children and that the answer is is an unequivocal "yes" because oh my gosh....so cute!!!!

Y'all, I totally cried.
Here's the honest truth: I was worried that I would be sad if there weren't twins in there.  That it would be like I lost a baby I never had or something?  I don't know.  Emotions are weird. I mean, being sad about the idea that I might feel sad?  Silliness.  Absolute silliness because of course I was not sad at all.  And I wasn't relieved, either.  I was just too busy being so happy to see his sweet face and his crazy legs for there to be room for anything bad.  All things good and wonderful.

So there she was trying to get good pictures of all the parts and there he was going berzerk (as he is apparently wont to do) and I kept seeing his butt zoom in and out like Bart Simpson sitting on the copy machine and I could. not. stop. laughing.  Which of course made it even harder to get a good view, but really I didn't need a better view because I know what a penis looks like, people.  And I had seen it already.  My little boy and his crazy legs and his Bart Simpson butt and his penis.  But then when she finally DID get a good shot and she said it out loud and everyone cheered, I just....I just started bawling.  It was all too amazing.  Too beautiful.  Too much of what I absolutely could not have anticipated.  God is so good to me.

Oh, and do you want to know WHY I've been measuring ahead two weeks at every appointment?  Because every single measurement of that sweet boy in there, from his brain parts to his femurs, is telling us he is two weeks older, two weeks bigger, than what we thought.  23 weeks instead of 21!

Could it be?  Could I have this baby in late May instead of early June?  Or will he wait until early June and be an enormous Godzilla baby measuring 42 weeks instead of 40?  What say you, oh wise and experienced readers? Was I just given a Get Out of Pregnancy Two Weeks Early pass????

Baby boy!  Big!  Healthy! So happy.

  5. Congrats! I didn't scroll ahead and just looked at that cute little face and instantly thought - BOY! I like his little nose. So adorable. And I so hope that you are 2 weeks further than you had thought! My midwife said to me the other day, "So you're 21 weeks now?" and my heart skipped a beat. But no, still 18. I'm ok with that but oh the thought of shaving off a few weeks doesn't hurt. ;)

  10. Yay!! He looks beautiful! I'd stick with the later date mentally to help you not go crazy in the end and then be ready just in case of an early surprise :)

  11. Now that's a photogenic baby! And how cute is his profile! The profile picture I got of our little guy at 20 weeks is just a blurry mess. And, of course, the tech tells me he's "just not a photogenic baby." Sigh. I'm hoping he'll be a bit more cooperative when I go back for my 32 week scan. Thanks to my "advanced maternal age" status at least we'll get another peek at him.

  18. I've been following your blog for about a year now and am SOOO happy for you! I too had a 2nd trimester loss and truly felt your pain with Baby Nicholas... And like you, I'm now pregnant and am due in mid-June! We just had our ultrasound this week as well and I totally cried (out of happiness, of course) when we learned we were having baby girl #4. Like it was meant to be. And that perfect little profile... can't be beat. God is good! So thrilled for you and your newest little man!

  37. His profile pic in utero ranks right up there in cuteness with my granddaughters' sonogram pics--and if you knew how I feel about them, you would realize that is high praise indeed! He looks like a cutie pie. Congratulations!!!

  38. What happy news!! I had a similar experience with measuring big and psyching myself up for twins in between midwife and ultrasound appointments. My midwife said that in her experience, mothers are more accurate than ultrasound machines in figuring out when baby was conceived (esp. when you use NFP) I was right about my dates, and gave birth to a big baby girl a week late, but I was happy I had fought for my date, so I didn't have to face any pressure for induction. You and sweet baby boy are in our prayers!

  39. congratulations! Good job, mommy and baby!

  42. Congrats on the little boy! Such a blessing! Ultrasounds are seriously amazing :)

  43. I gotta say, he *must* be adorable if he could project all that cuteness through a sonogram :). Those sweet little lips just made me grin!

  45. Oh congratulations! We are having a boy too! Due in mid June.

  46. That is a genuinely cute profile!!! Congratulations again, I am so, so happy for you all!

  47. Oh, cutest. Cute, cute, cute. Ok, so with my use-to-be-baby-nurse hat on, I will tell you that ultrasounds are not perfect, and the later they are done in pregnancy the more inaccurate they are for dating purposes. I have giant babies. Giant. My biggest was 10'14. No, I am not diabetic. Anyway, they *always* try to move my due date up on me. I fell for it for my first one, and was induced, and it very nearly ended very badly. Ever since I have insisted they let me go on my own. B)ut, what's funny is that the ultrasounds always predict my babies will be even bigger than they are. WIth my last baby, I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks and the tech told me that she was already 9 pounds and her head size was off the chart, that she was going to be 11 or 12 pounds by my due date. Well, she was born at a very modest (for me) 8ish pounds. So. There's that. :) You might go two weeks earlier than you thought. But, here's my two cents,,,in your head, plug your ears and say, "LALALALA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU" whenever you start to go there. Otherwise, your heart (and back) will hope and pray for that earlier date, and you will be disappointed when it comes and goes, and it will make the end of pregnancy even more eternal. That was my second baby. ;)

  48. Congratulations!! He is one cute, cute, cute baby - but you already know this of course!

I hate to burst your bubble of possible early delivery, but I measured 3 weeks ahead of my dates with every single baby. All their body part measurements, my fundal height, the whole nine yards . . . always 3 weeks ahead. I had doctors argue and argue with me, and change my dates on my chart, etc . . . and every single one of my babies was late (or on time, according to me) except for the one bugger we made come early for other health reasons. Also, 4 of the 7 were over 9 pounds, 2 were just a few ounces shy of 9, the one born a month early was still almost 8 lbs, and one was 24 inches long! No wonder they all measured so big!

All that to say that measuring ahead is totally normal sometimes, and babies will come when they come. So happy for you, Dwija. :)

  49. This post is just emanating joy! Yay! Congratulations :-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Congratulations! I agree with the post above. My boy always measured a couple of weeks bigger than he was, but his growth slowed down in the last few weeks and he was born on schedule and not huge. You know your dates with much better accuracy than an ultrasound. By 21 weeks they have a margin of error of 10 days or so I believe. Stick to your date, you know your body best.

  51. Oh my gosh, a million congratulations! As soon as I saw the profile I said, "BOY!!!" He is beyond precious. I am due June 5th and having my ultrasound on Tuesday, I CANT WAIT. I hope that you are feeling fantastic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yay!! And what a cute little boy he is already!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Beautiful little boy in there, Dwija! We're excited for you.

  54. Don't believe the ultrasound. It's good for looking at parts and seeing that they're all there. But for dating and size, no. My first was supposedly gigababy - when she came out she was tiny. My second they moved the due date forward one week, and then she was born 41 weeks, and they'd overestimated her size too.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yayyy!! Congratulations! SO looking forward to seeing this little guy up here. GIVE US ALLLL THE PICTURES!

  56. Not to rain on your two weeks, but with my last I was told I was FOUR weeks further along then I thought. WHAT? But then he ended up being two weeks late. So honestly I don't know if he was two weeks late and they were right or he was two weeks early and my date was right. Guess I'll never know.

  57. Awesome, just awesome!

My friend - mother of three boys -- had an ultrasound that showed she was expecting a girl. They named her Maggie and loaded up on girl clothes. Long story short . . . "Maggie" turned out to be "Paul" and while everyone, of course, loved Paul, they sort of mourned "Maggie" who never actually was. Emotions are weird.

(Her next pregnancy produced an actual Maggie).

  58. So much joy for you!!! As the mother of all girls, I will give an unequivocal yes to Pointy Bird being the handsomest lad I've ever seen on ultrasound. His profile looks royal, yes? :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Pointy bird has a pointy bird. buahahahahaha.

  60. So exciting! Yay for baby boys!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Absolutely wonderful! He's profile is amazingly cute :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah Baby Boy Pointy Bird!!!! I would love to have a two week pass but I have my NFP chart and knew the date before they did. I second the comments above - don't worry about size based on the ultrasounds and measurements - mine have never been right. Thanking God for you and baby.

  63. Beautiful, so exciting, congrats!!!!!

I have never found out the sex of a baby ahead of time but was thinking next time we might. Did you always?

I know a lot of babies on the way for spring-summer-fall! Hooray!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. YAY!!!!!!!

My son was born at 37 weeks weighing 8 lbs 2 oz. (In other words, right on 50th percentile for a 40 weeker.) And I can show you the chart that says when he was conceived. So it does happen. :)

  65. It all makes sense now! So excited that you'll be having another boy and that baby is healthy :) And while it's a little sad that you're not joining the twins club, you've still got plenty of time to become a member ;)

  67. Baby Boy Borobia - B-cubed!! So I dub him. You are totally not biased (well I mean even if you are..) that is a super cute profile. So so glad everything and everyone is healthy and well! Congrats Borobias!!

  68. Wonderful news! Congratulations! He's beautiful! Re: the dating of the pregnancy, they could totally have been two weeks off before. I was initially dated a week off with this pregnancy and FOUR weeks off with my last pregnancy. (Yes, really.) The errors were revealed during early sonos, so my due dates were adjusted pretty quickly. And then they were borne out by all subsequent sonos.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Oh, and by the way, early sonos are super accurate re: dating but later ones are less so. My ob has sonos in each exam room, so you get one every visit until you can detect baby's heartbeat with the dopplar. Which is why we knew the accuracy of my sono-calculated due dates. (As opposed to the due dates calculated by date-of-last-period.)
