After a whole week, this is what I give you? (7qt)

(1)
Oh my sweet moses.  What is up with this sciatica business?  What is UP, y'all?  For 7 whole days I have not blogged because I'm old and decrepit.  Apparently.  See, I can't stand for long periods.  Nor can I sit in a firm chair.  Which means I can walk around (not carrying anyone or anything) and I can lie down.

Hahahahahahaha!  Lie down!  Woooooheeeee!  Funny stuff, amiright?

So I've been trying to basically move non-stop during the day, with short periods of standing or sitting to accomplish boring life tasks interspersed, which have so far resulted in me being incapacitated several times throughout the week.

Lawdy.

Anyway, that's why I haven't written anything until today- because my main computer is on a kitchen counter and I use it (or I USED TO USE IT, DAGNABIT) while standing up.

Enough whining from me.  Will you look at these sweet chil'rens?
On Saturday the big girls and I went on a double date with one of my friends and her two big girls to see Oliver! produced by a super neat organization called Homeschool Performing Arts.

Should I be embarassed to admit that my expectations were not very high?  I should be.  I am.  And they weren't.  But wow, wow, wow was I impressed.  I have seen a lot of theater, you guys.  I have been in a lot of theater.  This show was good.  So really very excellent that we are counting down the days until we can see the next production (The Sound of Music!) in May.  May?  We have to wait until May?!?!?  *sobbing*

(3)
Before we left for our girly night on the town, Cari insisted I take a plethora of photos of myself not-wearing-jeans.  I hope by "plethora" she meant "one mirror selfie at 11 p.m.

Voila!
Hey, I love this dress, bee tee dub.  Gap.com had a 40% off coupon the other day and I snagged it for NINE DOLLAH, MAKE ME HOLLAH.  They still have them!  Get one!

(4)
Speaking of clothes, let's discuss Mary's ensemble here, shall we?

Dress covered with owls.  Striped leggings.  Leopard (cheetah?) print fleece hat.  ONE floral sock.  Tres chic.

(5)
Whilst above outfit was being worn, Cecilia donned this lovely size 2T frock and plastic shoes.
You love the trash under my couch, I know you do.
She requested I take a photo, but when she saw the results, she insisted on a retake.

Here is what she did for installment dos.
 We. Are. In. Trouble.

What else....what else....

EDEL!

I do believe The Edel Gathering is sold out and I just, wow, cannot WAIT. If you've got a ticket in your hot little hands  inbox, leave me a comment, okay?  I need to make a list.  And then put little photos by the list. And then quiz myself. Because ohmygosh I am so bad with names!  Really, it's going to be a remarkable tragedy when someone whose blog I read on the reg approaches me and I'm all "Oh!  Hi....Mary?  No.  Wait.  Katie.  Nonononono...gimme a second...uh....Je...ssi...fer?"  #meltsintopuddleofshame

In closing, enjoy these Puritan Valentine's Day cards.

  2. Bells! On your crazy shoes! That might just win you the contest, girl...

  3. I'm going to Edel!! Ahhhhh! So excited!

  4. I'm going too! (And like you, I'll have a baby in tow! I'm 32 weeks today.)

  5. Poor mommy! Sciatica is no fun at all. Been there, done that. Walk like I am 90 years old. Hope you feel better soon!

  6. ugh... sciatica is awful! Here's hoping yours calms down (ice, stretching, and more lying down than I ever wanted did help mine, but, man, it's rough stuff)!

  7. Oh, Dweej. So so sorry about your back. I just hurt my hip/lower back today and I'm walking like 97 year old. Srsly. The only time I've ever felt this pain was with sciatica during pregnancy. Sadly, there isn't even a bebe to blame this on/offer it up for. SO I will offer it up for you. Feel better soon

  8. Me! And I hope this baby gives you a rest sometime soon!

  9. I'll be there and I think shoes should be clarified. It is any sort of foot covering or it definitely shoes, like I'd normally wear in public. Totally a difference, right? I have a pair in mind because they are my craziness footwear EVER with a homemade touch but definitely not shoes I would wear to work/church/grocery store (well maybe the store only if I was really feel bold)

  10. I'm so sorry about your sciatica! My back went out a few years ago (not pregnancy related) and the sciatic nerve pain was awful. Couldn't sit or stand for more than fifteen minutes before needing to move again. That was one thing I was really worried about, getting pregnant again - that the weight of the baby would throw my back out again. I'm so grateful that hasn't happened. Maybe you can find a chiropractor that works with pregnant ladies?

  11. Go see your chiropractor if you can. Adjustments help pregnant women in so many ways including sciatica pain.

  12. Pregnant with number 3 here and by week 20 I HAVE to see the chiropractor to function. Otherwise, back pain is incapacitating. Can't hurt to try, but ask around first for a good recommendation. Hope it helps!

  13. Even though I am 2 hours from Austin, I can't make it to Edel! My grandson turns 5 that weekend and it will be party time in Fort Worth! I have sciatica as well! The nerve somehow became trapped in a line of scar tissue. Worst pain ever. I have, for the first time, been seeing a Chiropractor and he has worked wonders massaging the tissue loose. Go my friend in haste!!!!!

  14. Yes! finally someone who understands what I meant when I told my husband I had "upper butt / lower back pain" during my last pregnancy. He could never figure that one out :)

  15. That's a really beautiful picture of you! Oh man do I hear you on the sciatica. I always get it so bad I can barely walk around. And don't even get me started on sleeping on my hip. An old woman, am I.

  16. I'm so sorry for your pain. But I can't wait to meet you at Edel! Can we do a link up where those attending each write a short post introducing ourselves, with pictures?

  17. Sciatica is the devil's own plan to reduce the population. If it weren't for my DEBILITATING sciatica, pregnancy would be a... well, not quiiite a piece of cake, but close.

I did, however, find a helpful exercise for some temporary relief. Two actually. And this website is super helpful: http://spinningbabies.com/ I'll pm you the exercises I used. My sciatica was due to posterior positioned babies and my normal old run-of-the-mill scoliosis.

  18. If standing and sitting is painful, you obviously need to ramp up your holiness-factor so that you can start levitating! ;)

And I'm going to Edel!! And I'm bad with names too, so I totally understand! There's a picture of me with my going-to-Edel sign on my 7QT post for you to add to your list. LOL

  19. I will not be attending Edel, but you might want to raise the suggestion that name tags include a space for name of blog. I'm sure you'll know who is who then. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm so looking forward to meeting you at Edel, and I have no requirement that you know my name :) I'm going to be too starstruck to make coherent sentences anyway! Will pray that your pain subsides; I know sciatica pain is the. worst. ever.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll be Edel. I am actually hoping that name tags will include blog names AND what we're best known for. Because some women I remember their names, some the names of their blogs, and some what they do, blog about, etc. So like Cari's would be:
    Cari Donaldson
    Clan Donaldson
Blog with fisher cats, Author of Pope Awesome

It would help me at least.

    1. But I think they're doing something like what you said on the Edel website.

  22. You. look. SO. great! Wow! I love the dress.
Sorry about your sciatica.I have had it before and it's no joke! For some reason, mine would really strike whenever I was using the toilet, which is of course the most delightful time for it to strike.
I will be at Edel!! I can't wait to meet you and everyone else!!:)

  23. So sorry your back is all twingy. That is NO fun at all! I wish I was joining you in TX at edel, but alas that was not to be. The mortgage needs to be paid on a regular basis and this doesn't include me taking of for places unknown...like Texas. LOL! So have a blast for me why don't ya!

  24. I am coming, but I don't have a blog. (Hope that is okay. Though, in my defense, I read too many to write my own.)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sadly, not going to edel. Dress question, since I just impulse-bought at your reccomendation: reviews said a slip was needed to successfully wear the dress with dignity/modesty. Yes/no? I am hoping its really versatile-this is my first summer baby and I have very little spring/summer maternity wear. Layering in summer in an un air conditioned house won't be my first choice :)

    1. You know, I'm not even sure about the lack of layering. What I mean is, I haven't tried it without anything under it because it is so freaking cold here! In that photo I have a tank top and opaque tights on underneath the dress. No slip. But not nothing either. The fabric is very soft and looks thin when you hold it, but when I put it on, I was really pleased. Not sure if any of that helps you. Fingers crossed it works for you!

    2. It's perfect! (and yes, tank and tights underneath...I dont know why I was worrying about heat already, Northeast Ohio will still have plenty of chill :) Thx for the recommendation! Hope that your sciatica is resolving at least a little!

  26. Sciatica is no good at all! Hope you're feeling better!

Hmm, Mary looks about as coordinated as I feel some days. Too bad I don't have any excuse. She's cute no matter way! :)

  27. I'm going! Don't have a blog but do have a baby. So I'll be in that club. Going through RCIA right now and this is my first "Catholic thing"! Woot woot I picked a good one!

  29. I get to go to Edel! Woot! I don't have a blog either, but it counts if you read all these terrific Catholic bloggers obsessively, right? :) BTW, You look fabulous in that outfit, Dwija. Hair is amazing, earrings, make-up, all of it. How did you get your hair to behave? Mine is so frizzy and I have yet to find a way to tame it. And yes, sciatica is horrid. Paul: "And she shall be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness." Saved?? We should be canonized. :p I've got the whole round ligament pain thing going, was up 6 times with it last night. Good time to pray.

  30. I'm going to Edel! I don't have a blog. We'll not one that I write in anymore at least!... But I love reading your and many of the other awesome catholic mom blogs! You look beautiful in that dress! Hope you get some relief soon!
