38 week belly pic

One of the comments on yesterday's post made me feel a whole lot better about non-stop preg talk these days.  You know what she said? If'n somebody don't like the baby talk, maybe they should rethink their Catholic momblog reading habit.  I'm paraphrasing, as usual, but it did make me laugh.  Because do you know what I L-O-V-E reading on other people's blogs?  Pregnancy updates.  You know what I L-O-V-E seeing on other people's blogs?  Belly pics.

So I'm just gonna post all about the babe because soon enough I will be not pregnant anymore and I will get back to...you know what?  I don't even know what I write about here anymore.  I'll get back to rambling about non-torso related things, how 'bout that?

Less talky, more belleh.

38 weeks and...still growing

I think the last time you guys saw this sweater was in the 32 week pic, so you go entertain yourself with that for a sec if you wanna.

Back?  Good.  What I'm seeing is a not so distinct increase horizontally but some serious growthage vertically.  Do you agree?  Anyway, I think if PB were to decide to come tomorrow, he would be a respectable 7 and a half pounds or so.  The ISSUE is that I've never had a baby this early and if he waits until next week he will weigh EIGHT and a half pounds.  And if he waits until 40 weeks, lawdy, lawdy, I'm thinking about 9.5 lbs at this rate.  Because we're in the pound-a-week baby weight gain zone and wow.  Yes.  The nether-regions can tell.  TMI?  Sorry.  But not really.

Soon and very soon, we're gon' meet a baby boy....soon and very soon, we're gonna meet a baby boy....soon and very soon we're gonna meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet a baby BOY.  Hallelujah, halleluja......

  1. You look beautiful, Dweej! Pregnancy updates and belly pictures make the world a better place, IMO. Can't wait to see baby boy!

  2. Biggest singleton belly I've ever seen. But beautiful. Can't wait to see his sweet face. And 9.5 lbs? I'm thinking like, 10-11 lbs. lol

  3. Beautiful belly picture! And don't worry, my mom claims birthing big babies and little or average babies really doesn't make much of a difference (she had a couple 10 pounders too!). There is a theory that bigger babies actually cooperate more in the birth, so they are sometimes easier than smaller babies. Just some thoughts to brighten your day!

  4. You look lovely, dear! I'm 39 weeks and 4 days and my nether regions totally feel it, too. Let's both just go ahead and have these babies this weekend, mkay?

  5. Ohhhh my I gasped at the vertical increase! And how do you not look at ALL pregnant in the face with a belly like that?!

God is merciful to mothers of many, I guess. :) Great color on you.

    1. I know! My face always looks a lot wider thanks to all the preggo chub. Way to go, Dwija!

  6. If it makes you feel any better, I was HUGE with #2 and everyone predicted a 10lb baby. He finally came at 42 weeks and was my smallest baby at 7lbs 9oz.

  7. It isnt the weight of the baby that matters as much as the size of the head. My last kid was 9lbs 12oz but after his 15 inch head was out, the rest was easy. How do you fit behind a steering wheel?

    1. Historically my children have had tiny heads (thank you, husband! Unmarried ladies, add "measure head circumference" to your to-do list when considering a potential mate.) so maybe it will all be a gloriously easy birth experience even at 40 weeks :)

    2. "Measure head circumference" actually made me laugh out loud. I married a man with a very average-sized head, and thus far I have delivered two 9+lb babies. Both of whom had heads in the 90th percentile. I feel so betrayed. Perhaps I could get a refund on the husband?? (I kid, I kid). ;)

    3. Too funny! My husband has a HUGE head! And 2/3 babies have been 9 lbs+, with, yes, large heads. Did I mention I am 5'4 & on the petite side? But I did both all natural, with (TMI) no tearing! You got this Dweej!

  8. Of my six who made it mostly to term, my sections were 5-14, 6-6, and 7-7. My VBacs were 8-5, 8-15 and 9-14. Go figure. The 9-14 was the easiest too. (she was number 4). I love seeing your pictures. Praying for an easy birth.

  9. Definite vertical increase! And you look so very pretty.

  10. Totally gorg, as usual! And my almost 10 pound turkey was one of my easiest labors and deliveries ... And she's the one born on May 23rd, you know, the day PB is coming. ;-). I have full confidence that you will do great! Can't wait to "meet" him.

  12. You know what? I'm gonna break from the pack and say that I don't think you are going to have a particularly large baby. I think you were huge early on, as a mama of many, and even more so having just been pregnant with Nicholas. But now, I just think you look full-term. Not really much bigger than 6 weeks ago. (This, incidentally, elevates you to rockstar status in my opinion, as you have essentially been 38 weeks pregnant for what... 10 weeks or so?? I think you deserve some ice cream.)

  13. That's all *I* want. Baby! And more BABY! I was almost disappointed that the last post wasn't about baby. (Except you're so dang hilarious, that I was completely pacified by the end. And your kids are adorable/beautiful. So it's all good. :o))

  14. My sister-in-law had her little one two days ago!

She was born at 41 weeks, and 10 lbs, 3 oz. Of course, her older brother (who's two) was in 5T clothing at Thanksgiving...

  15. That is one of the best baby bellies I've ever seen. You look amazing!

  16. My biggest baby was 10'15. :) Pick up your jaw. It's ok. You know what the hardest part of her labor was? Very, very, veeeery long prelabor stage, which didn't really have anything to do with her size, just putteriness getting started. Anyway, you look beautiful, truly. I mean, the belly is just craziness, hehe...but you do look beautiful!

  17. I'm calling it, right here, right now. There's a second little babe in there hiding because you are big belly/little body. Unless of course baby boy smuggled a la-z-boy in with him which might be true but...twins.

  18. You look great! My last baby was 11 lb 10 oz and it was the most peaceful birth I had. Prayers for a good delivery!

  19. I'm a kajillion years old, lapsedish, my kids are giant semi-grownups and I still love reading your blog posts. So thrilled you are 38 weeks and rocking it, Dwija! What a colossal life blessing. : )

  20. I looove pregnancy updates. Also, my nether-regions couldn't tell much of a difference when birthing the 9-pound baby (vs the 7-pounders).

  21. Pregnancy and/or child-related posts are the best! Seriously - I get excited when I see them come up on my feed, and purposely wait until I can read in peace without interruption before clicking. That sweater looks great on you, by the way; you dark haired people can rock that cranberry color so well ;)

  22. You look great! Seriously, you're all belly (you know, not all puffy in the face and stuff). I can't remember if I told you before, but I'm loving the new haircut too!

  23. Yes, please! More belly/baby pics and updates. It's what we all come for. That and your cute smiling face. Also the great stuff you write between the pictures. But it's okay if it's just pictures too. They're worth a 1,000 words, right? Right.

  24. It really looks like you've evened out over the last several weeks, I have to look really hard to see any change between the 32 and 38 week pic. What a terrific belly! And I agree...I post lots of belly pics when pregnant because I just love seeing belly pics- and pics of all kinds!

  25. Your belly is a work of art. You look gorgeous.

  26. Now I'm wondering what sort of dolt reads this blog if they don't want to hear about babies and kids (and beehives in walls and mice in pails)? If you were to do a survey about favorite posts, I'd have a hard time picking. I like when you get all frugal on us, like the homeschooling/kids activities posts, like when you wax philosophy, and yes, love the baby and preggo updates. I do love seeing how you take things and fix them up. This line in the Little Britches series (recommended by Like Mother, Like Daughter) made me think of you, "Father could make everything he needed out of anything he had."

  27. I think pregnancy is your super power. You truly are one of those women who glows while she grows! The hair cut is still fabulous, you are looking more gorg each update! Go, mama D, go!! Sending prayer for you and little man, just in case he wants to get on le blog sooner than later ;)

  28. That is a GORGEOUS belly pic!

I was massive during my last pregnancy and ended up going 2 weeks over. My babe was 10lbs 4oz. Blessedly, he was easier to birth than his 7lbs older brother. Personally, I want them to cook inside as long as they want, but that's just the way this mama of big-babies feels.

Prayers for you in the coming days, weeks, (month?) as you wait for your bubby to enter this world. xo

  29. You look SO beautiful! (Kinda jealous over here... I'm only 27 weeks and I don't look half as good as you do!)

Don't you dare worry about baby boy's weight, lady. I'm here to tell you you can do it. My second baby was 9 lbs 3 oz, and she was a piece of cake to birth! (Note: I'm 5'3" and 115 lbs non-pregnant, so not a large person, and there was no "trauma" down there, if ya know what I mean - a very proud moment in this mama's life! lol) She was also born at home. :)

Best of luck to you, and prayers too. I cannot wait to read your birth story!!

  30. Woah, baby! You look amazing! :) I can't believe my belly looked like that just a month ago… :) Prayers!!!

  31. since youre talky talkative, wouldn`t like to share with us details about your sleeping arrangements? Now that you have to make room for one more bed/crib/sleeping stuff, i`m very curious to know how do you fit so many beds in a house, if kids share room, and what about boy/girl ratio, does it count at all? :-)

  32. Honestly, sometimes I stop by a momma blog I'm new to, and what keeps me that first few minutes is pregnancy talk and belly pictures. There's something ridiculously interesting about them.

You look lovely, really. I'm not joking. I know it's a lot to carry around (let alone sleep with!) but it looks beautiful and full of life. I still can't wait to see the baby inside though!
