Due date decided! Happy, happy day.

My faboooolous midwife just left. Remember the due date confusion? Well she is really super totally very sure that the earlier date, the May 29th one, is the right one. Which means that in...um...two days I'll be 37 weeks?

37 weeks is a term pregnancy, people.

WHUT?
Now, I've never delivered a baby at 37 weeks before, but my only current boy child was born 10 days before his due date, mas o menos a few days.

Is this the right time for me to tell you that I have zero birth supplies prepared? And that we've been talking about building a new chicken coop?  Laboring women and newborn babies really need chicken coops. Or at least I've heard. I mean, right? Yeah, that sounds good.

Ahem.

Hey, in more good news I've finally stopped growing.  Total sweetness.  Now when people accost me in the grocery store I can say "hopefully by the end of the month!" and they say "Almost time!" instead of "Sweet mother of Moses you must have a litter of babies in there!"

So. I should maybe go buy a few chux pads or something...?

Unrelated photo from sushi day because Tommy brought me flowers. And made me sushi.  He is my favorite.

  1. Resisting the urge to say, "Told you so!" Oh wait… I think I just did it. Get that baby boy born already!!!

  2. Does building a chicken coop fall in that whole "nesting" category? Hmmm....

  3. Well, you know how the story goes about the rice paddy births. They just give birth and keep going. I bet Pointy Bird will love building a chicken coop.

  4. I just can't get over how invested I am in the birth of this child... IT'S STILL SUCH A MYSTERY!!! I cannot deal with the uncertainty - come now, baby!

  5. You always make me laugh, Dwij - I'm so thrilled and excited for you! I say yes to the chux pads, but I should maybe also perhaps give myself some similar advice... I'm not far behind ya, althoughsometimesIpretendIamsoI'mnotsonervousallthetime. Ahem.Love and prayers to you!

  6. I had one 22 days early. I didn't have clothes washed or diapers ready but it worked. I cried and cried all through labor but, hey? Who didn't?

    1. I had one of those. 20 days early. Spent the day in labor telling my mom which drawer to put the just-washed-that-morning baby clothes into and installing the carseat.

After 2 overdue babies, it seemed like there was so much time left...

    2. Oh my gosh. The carseat. I'd better get my butt down to the basement and clean the spiders out of that thing! Dagnabit....

  9. Totes jelly about your new and improved due date. I just keep telling myself, "Two months from now, so help me Jesus, I will NOT be pregnant." No nesting on this homefront, unless catching up on Once Upon Time episodes counts as nesting. C'mon Baby Borobia! May Birthdays are the best!

  10. The chicken coop sounds like the same kind of good idea we had when we decided to pull down all of the wood paneling on our walls and I heaved myself up and down a ladder to paint the week before #1 was born ;) It got done, though! And the coop probably would too!

Glad the squishy baby squishes and end to all the aches and pains and are probably closer than previously predicted--and if you do for some unearthly reason go past the date, I guess you get to say to the midwife "I told you so!"

  11. I'm so happy to hear that for you--when I think about fellow mommy blogger who are pregnant, you've been on my mind with your unknowns about due date (nightmare!). So glad you now have a semblance of an end in sight!

  14. So excited for you! Wow, I never knew you could purchase chux pads. Or that they even had a name beyond weird-crunchy-hospital-pad-that-never-stays-in-place. Beautiful flowers. :)

  16. I'll admit I'm sort of bummed you got your earlier due date, but it's only because my EDD is solidly at 6/21 and I'm at the point where it'll be painful for everyone I thought was due in June gives birth before me. I am happy for you.

I've been forcing myself into nesting because apparently the instinct isn't going to kick in on its own this time. My prefolds came in the mail today and part of our bedroom is cleared, so we might actually be prepared if I have another 37 weeker. But preparing seems like I'm dooming myself to 41 weeks. I did realize that I have to give birth in under 2 months now. I guess that's good.

  18. I'm due in mid-June with #5, so we got ducklings. Yeah. Nesting. Ha! They'll be living outside by then, and my dad built us the duck house when he was visiting, so all we have to do is the day-to-day and build the fence. Not much for the third trimester, and I console myself that I did NOT demand either a move or a kitchen remodel during this pregnancy, which is a big change from my others...

  19. Sheesh it seems like you've been prego forever! My daughter's dance teacher announced she was 5 months it seems like last week (that may be an exaggeration). Her 7lb+ baby was born last night, and several days past due!
