I promised you a super quick giveaway of Leila's new book The Little Oratory bundled together with Father of the Family for Father's Day, and I'm gonna deliver (hah! deliver! I had a baby! Get it???? Okay. Done. Promise.) because I'm still riding high on those baby birthin' hormones and it's still acceptable for me to sit here and not cook or clean or get dressed.
Also Tommy is playing his new baby games on the sofa with JC and the big girls are cracking up. My fave. What better time to hot bliggity blog?
So I have this book. I am loving it. Especially now that I can get my brain out of waiting for baby mode, we can start putting ours together. It's gonna be a great summertime activity, I can tell. If you need great summertime activities, get this book. Not that you need to do it in the summer but...whoah. I'm rambling. I think I haven't slept as much as I imagined.
musical interlude time!
blaaaaaame it on the baaaaaaaaaaaaaabe.....
Ahem.
This book I do not have, but if Leila says it's good, I know it's good. Plus: free. So why not?

ReplyDeleteYou're too funny. Not a lot of people would have a new baby and feel like they were takin' it easy. :-) I've had the Little Oratory on my list for a while, would love to win!
ReplyDeleteWe've wanted to start a little oratory in our home, but we're looking for some help in how to do it. This book would be exactly what we need! :)
ReplyDeleteYay for giveaways! I wonder if this book has any ideas that would be relevant to a college dorm situation? If not, I'm sure it will be useful for the future :)
ReplyDeleteBoth my husband and I have wanted to design a little prayer corner, so I think this would be a great way to finally make this desire a reality. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on baby and it looks like a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have one, I just rarely use it. My toddlers raid it for rosaries and prayer cards to play with, then scatter throughout the house.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! He is so beautiful :). Enjoy every minute and thanks for hosting a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI started something similar to a home orator once, when first married, but disassembled it when my first bebe got old enough to mess with the icons! I'd love to have another one, though maybe on a higher shelf this time!
ReplyDeleteOh, this book! I've been hearing about it everywhere and wanting to get my hands on it! We are in the midst of settling into a new house over here and I can't think of a better time to read it. The idea of a little oratory is not new to me, but I guess I always had it in my mind as a "family alter"? Perhaps these are different things? See, clearly, I could use some guidance ;).
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to set up a home altar for some time, but this book has really given me the push that I needed. Having a definite purpose and some guidelines in mind really helps.
ReplyDeleteO my G.O.S.H. what a great giveaway! Pointy bird is so adorbable! Nothing in the world beats that newborn baby smell (ok maybe the chrism oil at baptism but it would totally be a tie).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your precious baby. (And the books look great too!)
ReplyDeleteWe have a family altar, but I really want to read this book for great ideas and inspiration!

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new baby! Love those feel good birth hormones :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have a little oratory, but that's fallen by the wayside. Seeing this book was a good prompt to recreate it when we have a home of our own again.
We do not have a little oratory. This book would be necessary to introduce/explain the concept and encourage us to have one.
ReplyDeletecongratulations! would love to win this book.
ReplyDeleteI've been totally curious about this book since I read about it on Leila's site.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new little one! I would love to win this book and would probably use the summer to institute it into our home life as well. i will have some down time where other people are cooking and cleaning as well coming up soon because I am due in two weeks. We are a homeschool family with 5 kiddos (the 5h will be making his appearance soon)!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Dwija! He looks so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe do not have a little oratory, but we do have four icons of the Gospel writers we don't really know what to do with, so the book would be really helpful!
I have been curious about this idea of a little oratory since I read about it over at Like Mother
ReplyDeleteLike Daughter. Thanks for the giveaway!
I'd never heard of it before. But I definitely want to read it!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win these for my husband! I know he would love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've heard about it....sounds very interesting!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to set this up in my home!

Congratulations again! I’m not sure what a home oratory is. We have a family prayer table but the book has piqued my curiousity. :) Thx!
ReplyDeleteI have Catholic-ness spread all over the house - would love to get some ideas for kind of collecting it all into a more special place!
ReplyDeleteHoping to gain inspiration from the book!
ReplyDeleteWe kinda sorta have a little oratory in progress, but..... it's not quite come together yet, so maybe this book will be a good help to get things more off the ground?
ReplyDelete~Ruth Anne
Congrats on your special delivery. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have not been setting up an oratory, but I think it's something our family needs. I would love to get my hands on this book.
Sounds like a great book!
ReplyDeleteI've never even considered this....now....I'm completely curious and inspired!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on that gorgeous baby! The books look great, thanks for the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI have a little prayer table, but it needs a little TLC. As I type this, the only thing left on the table is the Blessed Mother, who is lying on her back at the moment. Oh, dear. Maybe Auntie Leila has some advice for keeping toddlers' chubby hands away from said table? I'd love a copy...
ReplyDeleteI hadn't really given it much thought before finding out about this book, but I would love a copy!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your cutie!!! We've always had a prayer table but this gives me some fresh inspiration. Hope we win!
ReplyDeleteIts always been in the back of my mind, but maybe now this book will get me in gear!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! This has always been something that I've considered and thought we should do, but, alas, we haven't. This book could be the kick in the pants that I need to finally establish our own little oratory!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of having this in the home but it always intimidated me. I'm so excited to have it explained more and to make it happen!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to win this book! Congrats on your new baby!
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the giveaway - I'd love to win!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about this book, but am interested to learn more. Congrats on the precious new babe!

ReplyDeleteI know nothing about this book, but am interested to learn more. Congrats on the precious new babe!
ReplyDeleteI think my kitchen ledge qualifies as my at home oratory but it wasn't done purposely. Leila's book is on my list of books I'd like to read so I'd love to win a copy of it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, little Charlie is an adorable baby.
I would LOOOOOVE to WIIIIN! Congratulations on your new precious son! He is beautiful and so are you! It has been so fun to follow your blog (you're naturally very funny and entertaining! ) We are expecting #10 at the end of September. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a little shelf in my room near my calligraphy copy of the Magnificat that my godsister gave me that probably counts as the beginning of a "Little Oratory," so the topic isn't completely new to me.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your little boy, he is beautiful!
This would be my first introduction to the idea so this book would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe book looks amazing and I would love to read it. Also congrats on the new cutie. He is so handsome.
ReplyDeleteWe have several areas with statues and prayer books on them...I also have a 4 year old, 2 year old and a 2 month old taking them apart. Well - not the 2 month old. That would be impressive...
ReplyDeleteI *love* Auntie Leila's blog. As a convert - I have found it incredibly helpful. Her parenting, cleaning, and general home keeping advice has helped me immensely as well. I would love to read her book!
Congrats on your newest little! He's gorgeous. ((and thank you for the musical break. I've now got Milli Vanilli in my head... ;) ))
Congratulations on the baby!! As far as the oratory, I had never heard of it before Auntie Leila's blog started talking about it pre-book publishing.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I would LOVE both of these books. I've never heard of the second one, but have been wanting The Little Oratory. Is it selfish if I give my husband a book for Father's day that I actually want for myself? Don't answer that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your precious baby boy. Many blessings on all the family!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have an oratory, but never really gave it much thought.
ReplyDeleteNever really thought of having an oratory.. Hopefully I will win this book and be filled with ideas!
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing great things about this book! Would love to win a copy!
ReplyDeleteI've thought about having a dedicated prayer space at home...but this book sounds like it has a lot of great ideas!
ReplyDeleteHearing about "The Little Oratory," has inspired me to want to create a special place for prayer in our home. I also would love a copy of "The Father of the Family," which I have actually wanted to purchase for a while now.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your bouncing baby boy, too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new baby, how fun. Thank you for an opportunity to win two books.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new baby! Hope you are both still going GREAT! Even if I don't win, this book is on my summer reading list.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a copy of this book! We have several religious pictures, but no altar, exactly.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've thought about it for years, but this book has inspired me to revisit the idea.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sweet baby! I tried to set up a prayer table a few years ago, but it didn't get used much since it was hidden away in a basement room so as not to weird out husband. Now I mainly read the Bible and pray in my kids' rooms, which is good, but I'm not sure about an oratory there. I need help from the book to figure out how to make it work for us.
ReplyDeleteWe have a little "oratory" (we've just called it an altar) in our house for a while. It's always been in our bedroom because of space considerations though. The book is definitely inspiring me to bring more out into the house though!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway and congrats on the baby! I wish I had quick labors like you!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on an adorable little boy and I'm immensely jealous of the 1 hour labor (mine was 30 hours + c-section and 6 months later I think I'm still tramatized).
ReplyDeleteCould definitely use this book. Every night when I'm praying with my tiny human, I wonder if I'm "doing it right" and if there are better ways, tips, ideas, etc. to help raise this tiny guy!
I have been wanting to make our new home into a beautiful "domestic church", but just don't know where to begin! Money is always tight since we put ALL of our savings into this house. So it would have to be little by little. But just knowing how to begin would be so valuable! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would love to read this book. We have a little prayer corner, but it is collecting dust and monotony....this may be the inspiration I need!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! There is nothing like a new baby. My youngest is 10 months old, though, and I am still recovering from baby brain. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeletewww.veilsandvocations.blogspot.com
Most importantly, congratulations!!! Welcome, to the world, beautiful little man, and God bless!
ReplyDeleteNow, thank you for the opportunity to win. The Little Oratory keeps popping up on my radar everywhere I look, so I think I need to take the hint here soon!
What great additions to life - both the baby and the book to win!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of the idea before, but this would be a great way to get more complete info and how-to's :)
ReplyDeletewould love to win this book - thank you for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to set up something permanent. I've made a couple little altars for St. Joseph's day and during Lent, but it would be nice to have something always there to visit.
ReplyDeleteBooks look super interesting!
ReplyDeleteI want to add my own "PraisebetoJesus, Charlie is here! Congratulations, Borobia Family!" to the heaps of love on this here comment thread. So happy for you all. And I would love to be entered for the giveaway--I have a small spot in our home that I have been pining to turn into a family altar. Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the baby! Would love this book and will be praying for you and how you can use it this summer (give yourself plenty of break time!).
ReplyDeleteI've officially run out of interesting ways to enter little Oratory giveaways, but I'm so grateful for all the opportunities!!! Here's hoping this ones a winner!
ReplyDeleteSounds like great books!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm not unknown, that must have been a teen not logging out!
ReplyDeleteI have thought of doing it but never have:( Before space was the excuse. Now I don't have that one.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Thanks for hosting the giveaway. They look like beautiful books!
ReplyDeleteWaltzing Matilda sent me your way! I love finding new Catholic family blogs!! It makes me feel normal to hear other moms going through similar experiences :) I am loving the silliness I get through your posts. You crack me up (i. e. blame it on the baaabe! haha love the Milli Vanilli reference. ...lol). Looking forward to reading more, God Bless you and your new little scrumptiousness!
ReplyDeleteWaltzing Matilda also sent me your way. I've heard of building up your domestic church and it is something I've been praying a lot about. Through some great blogs I've actually heard for the first time of celebrating the liturgical year and started implementing some things with my family over the last year and a half. Definitely a work in progress. I keep hearing good things about this book and would love to get my hands on it. Thanks for the opportunity. Congratulations on your new baby!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I entered and forgot to leave a comment...just in case I did forget, here is another lol!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea and don’t have an oratory yet!
ReplyDelete
