I want to talk about why I'm so lucky to be part of a really big family and how happy I am to live closer to them finally. I want to talk about our homeschool discernment process and how learning new things really teaches you new things about yourself. I want to tell you the story of our amazing fellow parishioners who just said yes to a surprise call (both a literal call AND a spiritual call!) to adoption and brought their brand new baby boy to be baptized just this weekend. I want to talk to you about a hundred tomatoes and a thousand blackberries and a hen that's probably a rooster and how my oldest daughter said that yesterday was the best 4th of July in her whole life even though we didn't DO anything really and why it melted my heart and what it taught me.
And our sewing projects and our soon-to-be canning projects (hopefully) and that our anniversary turned out to be a fabulous day after all and how the world really IS how you see it.
But I don't know where to start. So instead I will say thank-you to Charlotte at Waltzing Matilda ( a fellow UD alum, soon-to-be mom of 5 & a homeschooler) who inspired us to make our own Independence Day t-shirts during our stay-at-home-and-let-Tommy-work-even-though-the-air-conditioner-is-broken holiday. They turned out great and we had a bucket of fun making them!
the girls designed the transfers in microsoft publisher... |
...and we printed them onto iron-on transfers. So easy! |
This was the best we could do for a picture of all of them. Crazy kids! |
I got goosebumps just reading the beginning of your post, Dwija. I had quite a day myself today and yet,...all is well.
ReplyDeleteYou are just brilliant and awesome. Love ya. Glad you and your gorgeous family had a great long weekend. Those tees look great!
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! Isn't it wonderful how once you no longer have an obligation to write suddenly, you feel so much more freedom?
ReplyDeleteI can't get two kids to look at the camera for a picture, so I can't imagine four. Love the shirts and the post.
ReplyDeleteYou have me so curious!! I would especially love to know about your friends who adopted a baby and your garden!!! Pics please!
ReplyDeleteOh, and those shirts are awesome!! So you used a color printer to print them onto iron-on material??
ReplyDeleteThose look great! I'm gonna have to remember this idea next year when I have a baby to care for and the idea of pulling out paint gives me hives! All of your tempting tidbits sound lovely. And Melanie is right, when you take the pressure off, the creative juices start flowing more freely.
ReplyDeleteIt's plain ol' okay to post when you feel the need to post, you know? And if you've got nothin', then that's okay too.
ReplyDeleteLove the last picture the very most! <3
those iron-ons are so great! Love it that you all did it yourselves!!! Very cool. Oh yeah, and I can't tell you how many times I just haven't known where to start...
ReplyDeleteThe tee-shirts turned out great!! Happy 4th!
ReplyDelete@Heather- Yes! So easy. Got the iron on "paper" at Meijer (or Target or whatever you have that's a big store full of stuff). It went straight through the inkjet printer like any old thing would and then you iron it on your shirt. The cheap ones only work on white shirts, but you can get some for colored shirts too if you like. It was the easiest no-mess craft EVER :)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your encouragement!
Great t-shirts!! And SO glad you had a wonderful weekend, friend, and that you've found your inspiration once again. :) The joy I see in this post is the joy I know and love from my Dwija...you're lovely, just lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh, and let me know how the canning goes. I started freezing our squash the other day, and I just can't seem to get up the nerve to can. I think I need you to inspire me.
I love your shirts. You guys are so awesome. And this is the first time I realized you had a BOY too. Poor kid. So out numbered!
ReplyDeleteThat all sounds wonderful! Can't wait to hear all about it!!
ReplyDeleteThe shirts look SO MUCH BETTER than the old navy cookie-cutter shirts you see on everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read about all these happenings because it sounds like something that YOU are passionate about. I'm especially interested in the unfolding tales of home schooling.
ReplyDeleteAnd love all the matching shirts, but especially love the tiniest, little Dwija baby. What a cutie.
Also, when oh when are you getting your AC fixed?!
The shirts look great! I'm right there with you on having things to say, but not knowing where to start. So, I just did a post on things I'm grateful for right now. There's more in my head, but it's a start.
ReplyDeleteWow! This post is overflowing with awesomeness. No wonder you didn't know where to start! :D The shirts are adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. You are so crafty. The t-shirts look great.
ReplyDeleteIts wonderful to have too much to write about as opposed to not enough. :)
Your family is just lovely - you are blessed! Praying that as you lean on Jesus every day, He will guide you along and whatever you need, He will provide! I will be praying for a job for your husband, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the hen/rooster conundrum.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. I have so much to say, to write, to show in photos...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful Fourth with your family.
I also know that you have your priorities absolutely, undeniably, in the right place.
So cute! I want to hear more about these tomatoes of yours. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Rosann
They did such a good job on their shirts! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could hug you, Dwija! You inspire me. When I am in a bad mood and insist upon staying that way, I don't read your blog and my day stays bad. When I'm in a good mood and want to stay that way or in a bad mood and willing to change, I read your blog, and it's ALMOST as good as chocolate. Almost.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a wonderful 4th! Sorry about the AC. The shirts look great! I may need to make some onesies for Donut!
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures!! Glad you got that "itch" back!
ReplyDeleteOh Dweej I love this post. It's awesome because you said so much about so many things just with the way you expressed wanting to say them! ...uh, Does that make sense to anyone besides me?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm so glad you feel such a lift from blogopression! (Yes that's one word. But don't look it up, just take my word for it.) ;D
I felt the same way once, and just when I decided to take it easy and things would come naturally... I found a much harder way to overcome it! (Just in case you want to stick with your "I like a good challenge" trend haha.)
I got triple-loaded with extra work here at work, and so now I only have time to post every couple of days. Worked like a charm! Now I think of a billion things I want to say...
You didn't need a place to start. You never do. I get sucked right in anything you write and you keep my attention through the whole thing( which is very hard to do, trust me!)I loved this post and it made me happy for your little ones that they are blessed with an awesome mommy!
