If you need someone to just go to the store and get the one thing you're looking for and come straight home, do NOT ask my husband. If, on the other hand, you look forward to special treats found cheap at the local second-hand store, then he is your man. Exhibit A: On a mission to Goodwill for a new tie, he came home with this:
Chia Obama! |
I don't care what your political leanings are, you have to admit that this special treat is OUT OF CONTROL.

Really? I mean...someone made money by thinking of this? I think of stupid crap like this all the time!
And in case you were wondering, "Happy" and "Determined" are sold separately. You know, in case you thought you were lucking out and getting TWO Chia Obamas for the price of one.

Sorry, just one more...
Hail to the Ch-ch-ch-Chief! |

Speaking of a new tie, in case you missed yesterday's post, Tommy had his very first real Michigan interview yesterday and it went great! They even sent him home with an essay question to complete and send in by 5 p.m. today which everyone says is a good sign. Yay! Good sign! We won't hear back until November 15th at the earliest though, so you can pretty much just imagine me pacing back and forth gnawing on my finger nails and inhaling Halloween candy for the next 11 days. Good times.

Hey, I haven't tortured regaled you with any Halloween pictures yet. Aren't you so relieved disappointed? Anyway, the reason is that most of mine didn't turn out and I have to hound a poor, unsuspecting friend (are you reading this, friend? I need your Halloween pictures!) for hers. I do have one that is so cute that it makes me make a little squealing sound when I see it, though. Enjoy!
Wittle Bwue! BowbowbowBOW!
Note that Paul is looking at her little tail sticking straight out and trying his hardest not to grab it. It was insanely precious.

Hey, we dug a trench this week, too. Unlike the northeast, we've had some pretty awesome weather for November 'round here. Tommy decided that we should run some electricity to the barn before the ground freezes so that we can have lights in there and put in a water defroster for the chickens.
"Okay, Katie...lemme show you how it's done." |
No tools for daddy! |
pretty snazzy, yes? |

Have an awesome-tastic, dirt covered weekend everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love that Tommy picked that up. My kind of man. Its fun and quirky. Not needed. The not needed part is the biggest bonus!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just need some cheap laughs, ya know? Plus...Godwill prices!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! That Chia Obama is hilarious! Thank you for sharing that little gem with the world. I wonder if they make any other people themed chia pets.
ReplyDeleteIf they would kindly make them of each and every president, we could collect them in the name of homeschooling social studies!
ReplyDeletehey, we're digging trenches this weekend too! ours is for our new water system - no more hauling water for us hillbillies :) love that chia pet, too funny!
ReplyDeleteTrenchtastic!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Love the Chia Obama. "Chiabama?" When I saw a commercial for that I was sooo tempted! Just because it is so randomly hilariously wrong that it's right! Of course the non thrift store price prevented me from doing anything too drastic. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can never get over just how tacky Chia pets are! So glad to hear the interview went well - the waiting is always the worst part!
ReplyDeleteSo, be sure to show us Obama with his hair. OK.
ReplyDeleteAnd so glad to hear the interview went well. God is good.
Ah Chia pets. Just when I think I've gotten over their tackiness, they come out and surprise me all over again!
ReplyDeletelove the last picture! And what an awesome way to gtlat out the digging...Taking the pictures, Brilliant!

Haha!! Did someone bury her in the dirt, or did she do it herself? Either way, it's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteChia Obama? Wow
ReplyDeleteYour husband and mine must be related. He once went to the dollar store and bought 10 spatulas because they were, you guessed it, a dollar. I refuse to take him to the 99 cent store.
Oh Lordy....we must never let them out together!
ReplyDeleteOh.my.dear.lord! I NEED, not want, need that Obama Chia pet. I am googling stat.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine offered her Scooby-doo Chia pet so that my Chia pet can have his own pet. Isn't that so sweet of her?
ReplyDeleteI just insanely love you and your family.
