But you guys have been so patient, so I'm buckling down and doing what a good diy-er should: posting my after pics!
In case you've forgotten, you can look at all the before pictures here, but I'll share one of the gems here so you can get into the same this-has-got-to-go mood that I was in when I embarked on this crazy journey.
*shudder* |
Y'all, brace yourselves....
TA DAH!
Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha! I'm absolutely giddy! Here are some more:
Remember the three atrocious mirrors that were glued to the wall? Here's that same wall now:
And the rusty old heater vent underneath the half-removed wallpaper underneath the dingy window sill? Not anymore, friends!
And the wall o' closets is bright and beautiful now...
How about some detail shots?
And the very bestest part? Total $ spent from our bank account for this project: $0
Happy day!
Very nice!!! The color really brightens the room and feel. And great job on doing it for free!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! That yellow makes it looks so bright! Great job. Oh and I'm glad you found a big mirror.
ReplyDeleteIt's gaaaaawwww-geous! I must know how you did it. More details. The curtains are beautiful and the coordinate perfectly with the bedding and the plates! Your baby is going to be so cozy in there with you!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!! Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! What an amazing transformation! Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I bet you're thrilled!
ReplyDeleteYou would never guess that is the same room! You have an awesome eye for decorating and your entire house is proof.
ReplyDeleteOk, in order:
ReplyDeleteThe floor looks awesome now. Even if you didn't even touch it, now in context of the bedroom set and paint color, the floor looks like something that people with way too much money pay people to install. Honestly, unless it looks much different in real life than in pictures, I'd never touch it again.
The closet doors look 120,535,772,348,765 times better. Great choice.
The paint color is spot on.
The bedding?!?! Shut up- where did you find that duvet cover? It's gorgeous, I love the spots of red throughout the room, and the pillows help tie it all together.
All the other things, from plates to dress form to curtains- lovely. Absolutely lovely. You went from "West Coast (of Michigan)" scary to French Provincial airy on the kind of budget I love.
Now come redo my living room.
Charlotte- I'll do another post and list exactly what we got and how much it cost. The only money spent was from the magical Amazon gift card that our anonymous well-wisher sent us. The rest we already had in the house (but I'll tell you where I got those, too :) ). It'll be fun!
ReplyDeleteDwija, it is gorgeous. Great job! BUT you now need to create a post in which you explain how you did this practically for free. I. Am. Impressed.
ReplyDeleteYou're a miracle worker to do that for $0
ReplyDeleteThat is one fantastic transformation!! This may be the inspiration I need to redo my boys' room :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful, Dwija. So bright, warm and inviting - everything I certainly would want in a master bedroom. Did you replace the light fixture? And how did you manage to make the ceiling look so great?
ReplyDeleteLove it Dwija!! Great job.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love the color - so bright and sunny.
ReplyDeletedebbie- (can I call you that? ;) ), I do have a new light fixture which Tommy hasn't put up yet. I'll include that in my write-up of what we got where and how much it would have cost.
ReplyDeleteFor the ceiling, first I primed with the same primer we used on the walls and then painted with a high-hide ceiling paint from Valspar. Had to do 2 coats over the brown spots and you can still kind of see them if you look for them, but it is WAY better!
I'm impressed you painted the ceiling. And I'm sure you didn't have scaffolding that you could lay on to prevent neck pain, either. You're a warrior, Dwij. -debbie
DeleteDang, girl!!! There are 2 words that best describe that room: FRESH and PRETTY! I am mucho, mucho impressed and maybe a little envious. Now, go back in that room and just... BREATHE!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful and cheery! A perfect place for you to welcome a new baby :) Also, you motivated me to finally finish painting a few rooms in my home! "If D can do it sick and pregnant and with little ones, then I can do it with a 3 week old and a 3 year old," is what I kept telling myself :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I love that color - it's the shade I'm imagining for my kitchen someday, once we get around to painting over the horrendous shade of peach the previous homeowners used.
ReplyDelete$0????? Are you kidding??? This rooms looks amazing. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like your room so much now
ReplyDeleteWow. Just WOW. I am AMAZED. I have spent most of my adult life living in houses that look a lot like your BEFORE pix. I am very impressed by your transformational abilities!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful now! Congrats, Dwija!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! It looks like it should be in a catalog. What a transformation!
ReplyDeletelovely! it really looks nice, love the pops of blue!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Dwija! If I were you, I would live in that room! It will be a wonderful place to welcome your new baby! Congratulations on a job well done.
ReplyDeleteAugghhh! It did it again! I have got to get Phoebe to sign out of Google when she gets off the computer. That was me, not Phoebe! Augghhh!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny, Paula! I love your double posts :)
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely gorgeous. So sunny and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou did a fabulous job! The room was depressing before. Truly hideous and now, WOW! It is bright, cheery, welcoming, and absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed.
What a difference that color makes!
ReplyDeleteIt really was depressing. I hated it! The second picture up there is probably the most accurate color depiction (it's hard taking photos of yellow in the sunlight. My camera couldn't figure it out :) ). *Happy sigh*. Everyone likes it so much, they're ready to do other rooms now!
ReplyDeletelooks amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can hardly believe this is the same bedroom. The transformation is astounding. Beautiful. Cheerful. Happy. I LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteoh how i love paint. looks fabulous and comfy.
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing, Dwija! That baby is going to be born in style!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Dwija! The duvet is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I love the colors you chose. So bright and fun, yet simple and relaxing. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSo Much Better!!! Hurray!!! love it!
ReplyDeleteFull disclosure here: I have been slacking reading my friends' blogs lately. I did not see the 'before' post. So, I saw that first photo and thought that was the finished product. I thought, "Not bad, I wonder what the before looked like". Then I got all caught up :) The redo is lovely!! So much better than the old look!
ReplyDeleteI believe you have a career in interior design, Dweej!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it. I love the color, the sweet details you put in there, the bed linen, everything.
Hey, even I want to hang out in that room ;)
I love it ALL. The colour, the bed covers, the closets, the curtains....the price tag! LOL
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Now go enjoy your new room!
Wow huge improvement! It looks great!

DeleteWow!!!! I think I've fallen in love... <3 Gosh, it's lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteLovelovelove it!! Blue and yellow is my fav combo :) Our whole house in Va was blue and yellow. A perfect room to give birth in :)
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Enjoy your bright and cheerful new room!
ReplyDeleteIt looks AMAZING!!! 100% better! The yellow and white were a great choice by the way! Definitely brighter, but still warm!
ReplyDelete--the Creamy Lemon colour is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job!
What book is on your dresser? !!
The one on the left nightstand is "My Other Self: Conversations with Christ on Living Your Faith" http://www.amazon.com/My-Other-Self-Conversations-Christ/dp/0870612484 , which hubby is actually reading right now.
DeleteThe ones on the left nightstand are ours but were placed for color only (because I'm a dork like that)- the New Testament in Greek, Songbirds of Michigan, and The Dangerous Book for Boys. :)
Love it! Great job! (I still can't believe you conceived a child in that "before" room.)
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME, Dwija! How did you get all that done so fast?
ReplyDeleteBy neglecting all my other household duties AND having my husband home all the time. There would have been no other way!
DeleteOh my gosh Dwija, you are the living end!!! And my hero. Seriously, how is it even HUMANLY possible to take something from looking SO drab... to SO FAB!!! :) (Yup I made that up all by myself just now. But don't give me too much credit; who knows if it just came flying out of my subconscious from some old blondie makes it in the big world movie like "Legally Blonde"... you just never know.)
ReplyDeleteAhem. Anyway. I love it. And you! Both you and your awesomely redone room are bright and sunny and lovely and sweet. :)
Btw, for the record, I'm not dissin'. :) I loved Legally Blonde! I just have a memory problem (and right now his name is either Dane or Jericho or Denver; any suggestions while we're on the topic?) Pregger hormones have made off with my brain!
DeleteHoly crap, Dweej!! That looks awesome!! And amazing!! And so cheery! Great job...hope you're enjoying it :)
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! It looks so yummy and cozy and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE it! You did a fantastic job. I'd stay in there all the time. Can't wait to hear more about what you actually did and where you spent the money.
ReplyDeleteOkay, do you really need comment #61 telling you the exact same thing?? Oh, what the heck...I love it!! It looks fabulous! Great job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation! I know it's so cliche to say, but I truly am so happy for you. Those before pics had me silently shrieking for you. Your bedroom is meant to be a beautifully sacred place... and now you can confidently say it's beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know you and you don't know me but you did a great job on this renovation!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's always nice when anonymous commenters are so positive :)
DeleteUm, plates in a bedroom?
ReplyDeleteYou rock it. Great job!
