I glanced out our south windows as the sun rose this morning and saw this...
I wish the photos were bigger. I wish you could see them better. I wish you could know the peace and joy I felt when I allowed myself those few moments alone outside with that little point and shoot camera.
God created all of this majesty. He makes the sun rise and the sun set. The leaves grow then turn and fall then sleep. Despite us. Our worries and our frustrations, our cares and our fears- they're so tiny. Really. Minuscule in the face of His Glory.
I don't know where I'm going with all this. Maybe just trying to capture a little piece of whatever that gift was He was trying to give me as I stood on those rickety back steps, barefoot in the dew of a crisp October morning.

Lovely thought for the day! P.S. Every time I see your picture in the Spiderman mask I have to laugh. You look so much like my OB GYN it always makes me chuckle!
ReplyDeleteDoes your OB wear silly costumes and stuff??? If so, I TOTALLY need to go to her!
DeleteAs I was browsing my subscriptions this morning and looking out over a scene very similar to yours (Grand Rapids, represent!), I was also singing to my empty house:
ReplyDeleteWhen through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze
Then sings my soul, my savior, God, to Thee...
Your words really drove home the significance of that moment. Thank you, Dwija. :)
Amazing pictures! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I love the changing leaves of fall. To look out across the fields as we drive and see such beauty really does remind me of the awesome power and majesty of God!
ReplyDeleteI feel like every time the seasons change, it's another reminder of His dominion over everything. It's so comforting to me.
DeleteGorgeous, Dweej, and so SO true.

Perfect on this Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the view from my window (in rural Illinois). I can't get enough of fall. None of my problems seem to matter in such a perfectly beautiful world. God is good. Life is grand. And fall is a lovely reminder.
ReplyDeleteOh so jealous. Texas ain't got nuthin on your views. A little perspective is good for us :] Especially after I was ranting and raving yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteAhhh... the beauty of Michigan in the fall...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!
Beautiful shots! Glad you found that slice of peace and joy.

ReplyDeleteThat's so pretty. I look out the back door and can see all the neighbor's running around, obsessively watering their lawns. Majestic.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I know what you mean! I've been trying to capture this peace, this serenity, this overwhelming awe I feel when seeing the scenes unfold across the trees and prairie ... and I just can't perfectly. Beautiful words and scene! So glad you shared this week!
ReplyDeleteThis made my day. Thank you.
ReplyDelete"Minuscule in the face of His Glory."
ReplyDeleteAMEN to that!
