But what rhymes with broccoli, truly? To facebook! To facebook! People are so much more fun than Google, always. Which begot (begat?) this fabulous stream of comments.
(And that's not even the end but seriously how many screenshots can a girl take before she scraps the whole project? Anyway.)

Which begot (begat?) this Dana Carvey/Jimmy Fallon duet of Choppin' Brocolli.(You just can't not love it!)

And then, as if my day wasn't already awesome-fied enough, Cari presented to me, via the www, this enchanting, broccoli inspired Valentine's Day cardwhich I will cherish until the cockles of my heart are withered and grey, or whatever it is that cockles do.
So if you haven't started reading other blogs or writing your own, git on it, will ya?

Speaking of blogging and community and doing things, last year I found Ann Marie's blog when searching for a 40 Bags in 40 Days link up challenge thingy. And I started following her and she me and now it's Lent again and she's hosting again and I totally think you should do it!
It's not too late. Just do 3 or 7 or 20 bags at once, okay? Done and done.

Unrelated to the clicky clacky in any way: yesterday my kids assigned a planet to each member of our family (If we're supposed to DO something about our assigned planet, I am going to be in big trouble). I'm Earth because of the food thing I guess. Paul picked Mercury because he/it is very fast. Mary is Pluto because it's the smallest (non)planet. You get the picture. Anyway, during the evening Tommy was discussing the whole thing with them and he said "Which planet is very gassy? That should probably be my planet..." to which someone mumbled something about Jupiter. And then Katie says "Oh, Uranus is gassy too".
Tommy: Uranus is gassy?
Tommy: Uranus is gassy?
Katie: Yes.
Tommy: So what you're trying to tell me is that Uranus is gassy.
Katie: Uh, yeah...there are four....wait Ooooooooh, I get it! Hahahahaha!
Dads. Amiright?

Okay, I've saved the best for last.Aquinas and More, owned by my lovely sister in law and her husband, is closing at the end of THIS month. That's 13 days, people! 13 days to take advantage of 20% off almost everything in their entire online shop. Some items even more. They need to sell off as much of their inventory as possible in a really short amount of time and I want to help them. So. I'm going to give away two $20 dweej credit to Aquinas and More so we can GET THE WORD OUT.
Which means this: two winners will each get to pick anything they want priced up to $20 (one item, multiple items, whatever. You pick.) and I will pay for them plus pick up shipping and tax or whatever. We just need to let people know about this clearance sale, know what I mean, jelly bean?
a Rafflecopter giveaway
I'll announce the winners on Wednesday so we can get your orders placed before the website closes for good. Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for helping out a family that is dear to my heart!
You're hilarious...as always.
ReplyDeleteAm I really the first commenter? Maybe I need to have this baby instead of pretend to (and waste my time on the internet). Wait...I have no control over that.
haha-second commenter over here also waiting to have this baby!
ReplyDeleteI better not lose just because I'm not hip with the twitter
You have such funny friends. That card cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteDads are so good at the gassy humor. So glad he let Katie figure it out herself.
Valentine greatness. I so wish you guys were a day ahead of me instead of vice versa. Then I could have stolen, ahem, borrowed all of your great Valentine ideas. Work on that, would you?
ReplyDeleteHey, if you like planets, y'all should vote for the next 10 days at www.plutorocks.com to help SETI decide a name for a couple of Pluto's moons. Please pick Vulcan...just because!
ReplyDeleteSo the planet thing just reminded me to ask if you have ever assigned the 7 Dwarfs to each member of the family? Just an idea :)
ReplyDeleteI have a blog.
ReplyDeleteI LUV your blog!
That is all.
Oh man I did the 40 days of purging last year... worth it, man. So worth it.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if its in store too? Because we live 15 min away from your dear SIL and her husband's brick and mortar (and have had the pleasure of meeting them, and the Rutherfords took my husband in when he got his new job but was house-less) anyway, we'd love to help!
ReplyDeleteBummer, b&m closed. but can order online and schedule pickup -- will do! Sad to see them go
Deletedads, uright...
ReplyDelete40 bags in 40 days... That's part of my Lenten plan too! Thanks for the heads up about the link-up.... There's nothing like accountability, eh?
ReplyDeleteAnd... your broccoli looked just fine... :)
Got the 40 bags covered.....
ReplyDeleteIf only I was on facebook....
awesome giveaway!
I can't even tell you how much I hate, hate, hate broccoli. The sight, the smell, the texture. omg (gosh) I just gagged. moving on....
ReplyDeleteWhat?? How come i haven't heard of this shop before? I've been checking it out and gift card or not I think I'll be placing an order! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for reminding me about the 40 bags. Since I tend to declutter regularly (more like a wild woman rampage through the house than calm and peaceful trimming the excess) I might not be able to come up with a bag-a-day. But, a bag a week - that I could do :)
(ps - you're lucky your broccoli grew... we got nary a broccoli sprout this past summer!)
Thanks for the heads up on the shop. Bummer that it is closing - they have some really great stuff! I am currently fasting from social media for Lent though, so I'm outta the running for the gift card. Ahhh... penance.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the community that blogging creates. I also think that's a pretty nifty photo of rotting broccoli, so I'm pleased it's getting such attention. Thanks for furthering the community.
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks for spreading the word about the 40 Bags 40 Days challenge. That is EXACTLY what I need this Lent.
Uranus!! That would be my husband´s planet too!!
ReplyDeleteMike would kill me if I did 40 Bags in 40 Days. It's more like 365 Bags in 365 days around here. I am a purge-a-holic. It coordinates really well with my shopping habit...
ReplyDeleteAnd, that Dana Carvey skit? I had to start buying frozen broccoli in the bag so I would stop singing that song when I made dinner.
Cari has talent!!!! What a hysterical Valentine!!!
ReplyDeleteHelp! What do I do with kale, oh wise one?
Drat, not a winner. If only my name started with A!!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh :) And I need to check out that 40 bags challenge!
ReplyDeleteWait wait wait is that even broccoli???
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't "e coli" rhyme with broccoli?
