Books. Videos. Websites. Blathering. (7qt)

There are a lot of surprise perks to homeschooling that we've been discovering as we go along- perks you won't really read about on the HSLDA website or whatever.  This week's happy moment: a full-sized backpack for the boy for just $7.99 (because, you know...it's February.  Ain't nobody startin' school in February).  He wore it the entire day yesterday.  Like, while he ate dinner and then (unsuccessfully) changed into his pajamas.  If I were a good blogger, I'd have a picture of this, but since I'm not, you get words.  Oooooh, you can paint a picture in the gallery of your mind!

Speaking of homeschooling, a bunch of clever moms have linked up their fave homeschool item of this year right here.  If you are new to homeschooling, definitely check it out.  If you are old to homeschooling, link something up, will ya?
I know people are starting to think of next school year already and maybe we can help some homeys out.

Um, hi.  Watch this.

disclaimer: my husband insists that my obsession with animals doing funny things is "weird" and that "not everyone understands what you're talking about most of the time.  you know that, right?".  Consider yourself warned.

And if stupid animal stuff is not your shtick, watch this instead:

A-May-Zing.

Musical talent is something I just cannot wrap my brain around.  HOW DO THEY DO IT????

Pictures!

They put this up in the kids' section of our library.  Have I mentioned how much I love our library?  I BIG FLUFFY HEART OUR TINY LIBRARY.

Are you looking for a good Jesus-y book for Lent?  Or anytime?
The Privilege of Being Catholic

The Privilege of Being Catholic- solid and joyful and affordable to boot.

If you have not seen the new Electing the Pope website (brain-childed by the awesome Dorian Speed [homeschooling Texas mama: what what!]), go to see it now.  Informative AND sunny.  My two favorite things.

  2. If being obsessed with animals doing weird things it's wrong...well I'm pretty weird then. I spent minutes of my life yesterday watching a dog potty in a toilet. MINUTES!

Alright, off to check out that book!

      First comes love,
      Then comes....
...you know what? This is even weirder than the goat video, with none of the hilarity. I think I'll stop now.

    2. I'm offering up my Lenten sacrifices for all of your filthy-weird minds. I have told you all that I am the better (best!) person, and now you and the blogosphere know it.

  5. Typically I never watch videos in blogs but something compelled me to watch the goat video. I was about to hit the pause button during the first goat but then the second goat came on and I lost it! It is very unfortunate that I am home alone and have no one to share it with. Counting down the minutes until the kids and husband are home so I can share it with them.

    Thanks for the laugh!

  6. A friend sent me the goat video last week. Zeke watched it over and over and then bang mimicking it. It's freaking hilarious. Baby mimics goats mimicking humans? I'm sensing a new viral video...

  8. Excellent video links, but my favorite QT has to be #1 because one of my takes this week was about a room redo with...just words, no pictures! Ah, solidarity!

  10. Thanks for the video! Musical people speak a language the rest of us simply can't.

Can't wait to read Dorian Speed's Pope website! She's awesome! We made our respective daughters' communion dresses from the same pattern last spring. Except she used the hard sweetheart neckline and embroidered it. Stunning.

  11. I need to keep up with the Pope-ness. I will check that out! And, when Ellen is of age and I decide to homeschool (if I go crazy by then, I'm saying, which I certainly will), I'm going to pick your large brain.

  12. Ryan is watching the Pens right now and I can't find the headphones - how am I going to survive without watching this video?!

    Have you seen this??? http://fantasyconclave.com/

  13. ohmygoodness I am dying laughing.... I watched the goat video three times and it never gets old! We are all recovering from a cold and everyone was sent into coughing fits while watching.
And those musical brothers are amazing! I think what I love most about it is that they are having such a good time playing together. It's always good seeing families doing something awesome like that together!
