Are you ready for the closet? Did you look at the before pics already?
Okey doke. Drumroll...
Oh, you say be selective about the sweaters? Fine, I will!
And hey, all my shoes have mates. Mates for my shoes! No longer single and looking to mingle.
Ah. So lovely.
Hey, some of you might be wondering how I survive with such a small closet space, yes. Here are my two tips.
#1 Use one of these hanging fabric shelf things for stuff that can be folded rather than hung:
(how do I take such high quality images? amazing) |
#2 Layer common combinations straight onto the hanger, like this:
Because the hangers take up so much more room than the actual clothing does, you know? Plus, this makes getting ready really super fast. Okay, go check out all the other linkers.
DANG!!!! You knocked it out of the park!!! And after seeing all the cool stuff you get a Kohls, I went 3 weeks ago but found schnada on the sale racks. Except really ugly stuff. But I did buy Apt 9 clam diggers that I LIVE in!!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job Dwija! I'm almost inspired to tackle my pit of despair. Aaallllmost, but not quite yet. I'm picturing all of your shoes saying, "G'day Mate!" to each other.
ReplyDeleteNice! You look great! Your closet looks great! Win!Win! Love the bangle bracelets. Your anonymous gifter has great taste!
ReplyDeleteYou are the Queen in my head of combining colors I wouldn't think to combine. My inner/outer artist is embarrassed. I will now stalk you and pass your ideas off as my own.
ReplyDeleteWay to go dweej, on the closet and the outfit. I love how you combine colors!
ReplyDeleteLove that color combo. Hooray for GREEN!
ReplyDeleteThe closet looks great. Almost makes me feel inspired to clean out my closet...
Love the shirt! Love the color combination! Love it.
ReplyDeleteThat is one sharp looking closet and I am so glad you got that green shirt. I thought you had, but then I wasn't sure and I was thinking "I really hope she got that green shirt because it just suits her so well." Et voila, you did get it! Also, another tip for managing small closets. Get/keep/find any of those hangers that come with two piece outfits (like the pants hanger that loops over the regular hanger) and hang multiples of those all from one regular hanger and from each other. This is what I do with my daughters skirts. 1 regular hanger and 3 or 4 of those other hangers that just have a loop, no hook at the top.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in your green! dots! and I need some not-very-skinny jeans b/c I'm all bootcut. And your closet is quite an achievement! Love the idea to put combos on one hanger! Yes!
ReplyDeleteYour hanging fabric shelf looks like it is dying under the weight of all those clothes! I used one for shoes before when it made sense for me (I called it the "shoe accordion"). We now use it in another room for other stuff. In other closet-organizing news, we also use one of those hangers that you can put 4 pairs of pants on for my nice pants. (Sorta like this.
ReplyDeleteI really love that polka dot shirt. And those bangles are awesome!
Yeah, the cheapo cardboard they use for the shelves always break after 3 days. So lame!
DeleteI had one of those fabric shelves and shoved anything stiff and roughly the right size onto the bottom of each shelf: cookie sheets, cutting boards, random whiteboards, whatever. It helped.
DeleteYour what I am wearing posts are so fun! and hey, CONGRATS on your closet. Can you come do mine??? Please??
ReplyDeleteIt literally took FIVE HOURS to clean and organize that thing. It was cray!
DeleteJelly! Of the closet and the fact you can look so awesome in mustard yellow!
ReplyDeleteI would never think to wear that color yellow, but so many of you fashionably cooler bloggers look so great in it. So, skinny jeans question...all the pairs I have tried on are too tight in the thighs. I don't even think that I have big legs (but they are muscular) and I don't know if you can recommend a version that could work. Or maybe I need to buy a bigger size than I normally wear in pants?
ReplyDeleteLove that shirt! LC really knows her stuff - I kind of wonder if she realizes just how many moms are wearing her clothes :P
ReplyDeleteAMAZING job on the closet re-org. Give yourself a round of applause girlfriend. You didi it!! Isn;t it nice when you can find everything?? Love that!
ReplyDeleteYour blouse is so beautiful and those earring rock. Nicely done this week.
Love the mustard and green! I never would've paired them but it's stunning! Great job on the closet!
ReplyDeleteYou just have mad skills Girl....the closet tricks, the outfit, the thrifty finds...SKILZ!!
ReplyDeleteLooking into people's closets is almost as fun as looking into their medicine cabinets.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome! And you are going to be SO sad when the weather warms up and you can no longer wear the boots of awesomeness. Wee've had several days here in the ATL where I've worn them in the morning and had to strip it on down by the afternoon because my legs got too sweaty. So sad to retire them to the back of the closet for spring.
ReplyDeleteI love that mustard sweater and the bangles are awesome. Wish I had an anonymous friend mail me a bunch of stuff. Then maybe I would be inspired to clean out my closet. Guess I'll just have to clink on the link you gave for my inspiration. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the closet. I love a good before and after!
I don't know what looks better: you or the closet!
ReplyDeleteLove the polka dots and the mustard/green combo.
ReplyDeleteAnd your closet organizing alllmost makes me want to tackle mine. Maybe when I can finally put away the maternity clothes I'll give it a little overhaul.
You look great and your closet is amazing! Come to Alaska and be my fashion/organizing consultant!
ReplyDeleteI do have the hanging tower for additional storage (LOVE it!) ... but you simply blew me away with layering the outfit on one hanger! Brilliant!!! (Why didn't I think of that??!??) :-) Love the new organization! And your outfit!
