7 Quick Takes: napping, family, fires, napping

(1)
I'm waiting for the photos to download off my camera right now.  105 of them.  I need an intervention.

(2)
Mary is apparently giving up her morning nap.  ****insert sobbing soundtrack here****

(3)
Okay!  Photos are done.
Here is a shot of 16 of the 19 people who slept at our house on Tuesday night and ate and played at our house on Wednesday morning...

(4)
I was going to include one with Tommy in it so you could see the adorable height difference between his sister and him, but Lizzy decided to hide her head behind Aunt Paula's head in every. single. photo.  Okay fine.  I'll show you one anyway....

While they were here, they were closely following the forest fires in Colorado that have so far destroyed over 350 homes.  Yesterday they, and we, found out that the house belonging to the parents of my brother in law Ian (owner of Aquinas and More) was completely burnt down.  Everyone is safe, but no material things, except their chickens (!) were able to be saved.  Here is his status update from yesterday:

Sigh.  It is so sad.  They had created such a beautiful home and made so many memories over the years.  Will you real quick say a prayer for them?

(6)
Oh, and the last I heard, Paula and Ian's house is currently in an evacuation zone.  They are still out of town, but I don't really know what the status is out there as of right now.  Say a prayer for them that their home is spared!

After 24 hours of preparing and then not-sleeping and then frolicking with cousins, interspersed with much melting-down due to said lack of sleep, my boy looked like this.  He has the best ideas.

  2. That is an adorable passel of kids. Praying for Ian's parents and that Ian and Paula's house is spared. I was so sorry I wasn't able to meet up with them when they were in Boston. Things were just too crazy here on Monday. :(

  6. Ugh. Praying. Joy and sorrow, always so intertwined, yes?

  7. So sorry to hear about your brother-in-law's parents' home. As a very sentimental person, the idea of losing a home full of so many memories is extremely sad. Will keep them in my prayers.

  9. I hope everything's okay at your brother-in-law's. Unfortunately (as I'm sure you know) the number of houses lost has gone up even more, I think 480, but thankfully it is also 45% contained. We're getting thunderstorms right now, which is always a mixed blessing. Humidity helps fight the fire, but the wind and the lightening are sometimes very bad!

I am glad that you are getting to spend some time with family. It's always a good thing.
