Beach Babies and Other Things (phfr) (TT)

Maybe I should give myself a dang blogging challenge every week, huh? Because last week: so much. This week: so nothing.  Until today, my friends.  Until. Today.

The pretense for posting is going to be linking up with Cari's Theme Thursday, which is "knots" this week and adding a little PHFR from Like Mother, Like Daughter.  First I was like "Oooooh, like knots in your life and you're trying to undo them and then Mary Undoer of Knots comes along and...." And then I slapped myself and grabbed the first thing I could find that's in an actual knot and took a picture of it.

SPEAKING OF CARI.

She is in Michigan right now.  Along with Mary Kate AND Jessica.  And do you know where we all were at the exact same time yesterday?  En la casa Borobia, claro!

This picture is not even a joke.  Totally candid.  Mary Kate drank straight from her personal keg all night. In my kitchen.  It's how we do.

{funny}
And this, well, this one is teaching me two things.  1) Never, ever, ever duck face at the camera and 2) put on some dang eye make-up so Cari doesn't out-glam me every time.  Sheesh.  Painted nails AND eyeliner.  And she was camping.  Is there nothing she can't accomplish?

Now, if it were regular land, I would have lazed around my house today "recuperating."  Translation: being a bum.  But because it is Donaldson Land, I hauled them children to a dang state park and we went to the dang beach BEFORE LUNCH ON A THURSDAY.  For you fun moms, the previous sentence would not require aggressive capitalization.  But because I'm not, it did.

Proof!

Scrumptious wumptious little girls with their ridiculously enormous diapers under their snazzy girly swimsuits of adorableness...

Oops, sorry.  Got a little distracted by all that yumminess.  Also, Mary eats sand.  Eats it.  For real.  Thankfully I'm sure that's part of a recommended toddler diet.

{real}
Whew.  Is that enough for one post? No, you say?  Well then, how about a teeny tiny itty bitty peek at what's going on in the laundry room today?

I do believe this warrants a boom shakalaka, yes?  Fo' shizzy yes.

  2. Lena eats sand too, I've almost convinced myself that it's good for her digestion...or something! Your laundry room looks great and so glad you got to hang out with friends. Sometimes a girl just needs that!

  6. This is so crazy. I had never heard of Mary being the undoer of knots until yesterday. I was texting my husband that I was in "knots" about something, then saw your post about the gift you got from Colleen, went to the website from the link you had, and there was it was on the home page- a portrait of Mary, The Undoer Of Knots. Then today, Colleen's post with Cari's link-up with the theme today being "knots." Love that Holy Spirit! He must want me here, so I am now a follower and loving your site.

  7. So happy you got to meet Cari! And, yes, your beach trip deserves all caps says the mom who woke up at 10am this morning to a sad toddler poking her saying, "Mommy. Can I have a snack?" Ugh. Fail.

  8. Welcome back from that very tiny yet unbearable for me hiatus, dear Dwija! I swear, I must have checked yours and Cari's blogs four times a day, and rearead past blogs to make sure I didn't miss some sort of "we blogged every day last week so this week we're not blogging at all" post.
    I want to frame that picture of the four of you. I don't even know who Mary Kate and Jessica are (other than wonderful, obviously, the picture screams that) and I want to hang it on my wall for inspiration. Also, where does one procure a personal keg? Do they sell them at that feed store you love?

  9. Okay you stinkers! Do you realize I drove the entire state of Michigan YESTERDAY! Like from Charlevoix all the way down to Ohio! Man, little did I realize I was at some point on that journey so so so close to the Blog royalty convention! Ah well, so happy for you guys, looks like so much fun, and those babies: full bottomed beauties, both!

  11. Oh my goodness, I had to dig up this video in honor of a BOOM BOOM SHAKA LAKA LAKA BOOM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYKupOsaJmk

    And then I had to dance to it. While sitting down. Because I'm sitting with my husband, who is watching TV. I could hardly keep from singing it! BOOM BOOM!

  12. You made my night! After sending you a message saying how much I missed you, I get this wonderful piece of happiness! Can't tell you how jealous I am of the blogging night! Hanging with the four of you... for me that would be the equivalent for my hubby of having Jeff Cavins, Scott Hahn, Tim Gray, and Curtis Martin over for dinner. It's like the Catholic greats of Mommy Evalgelization! Still jealous!
    BYW, love the sand. Just think of it as building immunities. That's what I tell myself with every kid.
    Welcome back. Loved it!

  17. Fantastic pictures. I have three sisters. we attempted a duck face. my sisters all perfected it, I just look pissed off ;(

  18. My baby eats sand too. Sand is definitely an important part of the baby/toddler diet. It provides all sorts of mineral and roughage and things like that.

  19. Fun! I remember my first sand-eating baby (who was actually my second -- the first wanted nothing to do with sand at all and at 14 she is still the most neat-freakish of all of them). I was so puzzled by the sand in her diaper even after we'd left the beach. Then I was like, "DUH!!!!" Her next two siblings have followed her sand-eating ways, but fortunately grew out of it by their first birthdays.

  20. OOOOO!!!! SO MUCH JOY AND FUN! So happy for all of you!

  21. Ok... so first off, I NEEDED THE CAPITALIZATION. That would NOT have been me. But I do see now why she's friends with Colleen, as those two are certainly motivated! Does it come as the children come? Do babies who like to have near drowning experiences and eat hermit crabs count as beach deterrents?

    And why wasn't I in Borobia land? Looks like SO much fun! Sending love from Massachusetts!!! xoxoxo Heal up beautiful lady and know we're praying!

  22. Ugh!!!! I'm so jealz of your laundry room!! I got started on mine BEFORE you and they are nowhere NEAR done!! And our "before" laundry rooms were very similar. Maybe if our contractor showed up every once in awhile! Seems like the work one day every two weeks. So very glad yours is looking so smashing though! You deserve it! :o)
