And now, after over three entire years straight of hang-drying the clothing for a family of six which then turned into a family of seven in the not-mild climate of Southwest Michigan, I am enjoying (oh yes, quite literally) the beauty of this glorious modern convenience. I can do multiple loads in a single day if I want! Take that, stinky underoos.
Imma spare you anymore sappy talk right now (stay tuned for some of that coming up later though, m'kay? M'kay.) and git right to the photos.
If you have not seen the before pictures, stop this very second and look at them first here.
Sorry for super super yelling, but I regular yell so much around here that I needed a new way to actually get your attention.
So, we'll call this our official before pic for the purposes of this post:
so that we can call THIS the after picture:
I know, I know, I know. It's a miracle. Want I should go around the room like I did before? You know das right.
Pause: Clearly this room is so large and wonderful that it manages to be combination laundry room, workshop, linen closet, and food and toiletry backstock area. It has revolutionized our lives, truly.
Also, check out this clever use of space:
Voila! Sneaky ironing board action up in here.
And back around to a view of the entry and the closet-formerly-known-as-mouse-haven
Oh, and close ups of things. Gotta have those. The fabric for the curtains:
Handy dandy drying rack storage zone:
Gorgeous machines of fabulousness:
Lack of tin foil on ceiling:
And this shelf, which gives a little idea of what goes on in this house. Beer brewing equipment, part of the harp that Tommy's building clamped together, and piles of body wash and toothpaste. Because we're dirty and our breath smells bad:
Magical extras y'all bought, in case you were wondering if we already had them, include the tool peg board, brand new chest freezer, new cover for the ironing board and FORTY FIVE MONTHS of water softener rental.
Alright. I'll try and come back and add links to paint color and curtain fabric, but my 45 minutes are up. Houseyness calls, friends.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Editing to (finally) add colors and brands and all that good stuff..Wall paint color: Yolo Colorhouse Aspire .01 in eggshell (you can have a cheaper paint color matched, of course)
Table paint color: Turquoise Tint by Valspar
Curtain fabric: Madhuri Main White by Riley Blake Designs
Washing Machine: Samsung 4.2 cubic ft HE top loader purchased during July 4th sale from Goedeker's
Dryer: Samsung 7.3 cubic ft electrcic dryer, purchased during same July 4th sale
Flooring: Tranquility 5mm click resilient vinyl in Antique Oak from Lumber Liquidators
Did I miss anything? If so, let me know and I'll add it to the list.
I love it! So bright and clean and cheery! If only my laundry room looked that good, maybe I'd actually stay in it long enough to iron something once in awhile! After years of hang drying in that nightmarish room, you deserve this!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! So sunny and bright! And I LOVE the table color (especially how you coordinated it with your body wash and toothpaste). It's just amazing! What a great space!
ReplyDeleteLOVE!!! All of it is fab, but my personal favs are all of the natural light and the bright cheery colors on the walls, table and drapes.Well done guys! Have a beer on me…well, not paid by me of course, but with me in mind. ha! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! what a great room :) enjoy drying your clothes!
This is a great room and I am sure you will smile (even just a little) every time you enter it. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. And bonus... it's like a hug from bloggyland every time you go it.
ReplyDeleteLove! Makes me smile to see it. Also, makes me want to finally paint my laundry room (its been just primed for 6 years), finish the missing trim, and sew pretty curtains. Because your laundry room is just so happy, happy, happy!
ReplyDeleteYou just don't know how happy those pictures made me!!! So glad we were all able to make that happen for you - really, truly. What a gift you gave US to let us participate in something wonderful. That was my smile for the day!!
ReplyDeleteOhmygosh, Dwija! It is gorgeous! I'm so happy everything turned out so lovely. xoxo :-)
ReplyDeleteNice. Anytime I start to doubt whether all this internet/blogosphere/social media is making a positive difference in our lives, I'll go look at the pics of your laundry room. The internet brought so many people together to give you that room, and now we all get to enjoy it, too.
ReplyDeleteI mean, through pictures, of course. I am not going to sneak into your house at night and do a load there. Heh heh. Though I would if I could.
I'm thinking there's a perfect space in there to hang a certain picture of Our Lady doing laundry :-)
ReplyDeleteLove! Everything about this room makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteSo fresh and pretty! What is more amazing to me is how you didn't have a dryer for that length of time; you should get some kind of domestic award or something for that!! ;)
ReplyDeleteCan I come over to do laundry? I live in NY...izzat cool? Be right ovah!
ReplyDeleteRee Du
It is the most beautiful, glorious room EVER !!! You & your family deserve it so much!
ReplyDeleteI am SO SO happy for you and your new laundry/work/storage room. It is awesome. I want a sink like that in mine. And the ironing board behind the door is, of course, genius. I know this because it's where I keep mine, too.
ReplyDeleteHuge smile!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuave Ocean Breeze is the best stuff on the planet!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It's so bright and sunny and cheerful. I especially love the paint, curtains, and that gorgeous blue table. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's just perfect!
ReplyDeleteYippee! It really is beautiful, and I'm so happy that you are happy. I bet your whole family digs it. Hey! Maybe more laundry volunteers!
ReplyDeleteI sooooo needed to smile right now and your laundry room totally had the effect of bringing a smile to my face!
ReplyDeleteI love it...absolutely love it! I would just sit in there and enjoy the beautiful bright loveliness of it!
ReplyDeleteBAH! :0) all the wonderfulness! I think my favorite part (after all of it) was the "magical extras" that included a stinkin' chest freezer! Aw hail yes! :D
ReplyDeleteSo bright and beautiful...this would make anyone want to do laundry. At least once in a while. ;)
I can hear angels singing! I am weeping from the sheer beauty of it all!
ReplyDeleteOh, oh oh. Joy. Such joy!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe table and curtains are my favorites! Looks amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Major improvements over your before pics and so bright and cheery Now! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI love it Dwija!!! So happy for you :D My favorite things are of course the washer and dryer and....the curtains!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! It looks amazing. So bright and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteAnd three years of air drying? Crazyness! I grant you, I live in a flat so have to do it all indoors, but after only 6 months of doing the air drying schtick for a family of four I'm already hoping our next move involves a country where dryers are the norm!
Looks soooooooooooo awesome! I am happy for you, Dwija and family! You are so deserving of this :)
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful! It's a beautiful room. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Very happy it turned out so well! Such a cheerful place now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Honest-to-God...would not mind if I could move in and live in your laundry room. LOL
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!! Love it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh what a relief it is! God is good.
ReplyDeleteThe transformation is amazing! I can't imagine all the work you all put into that, but what a beautiful new room to have! The colors, the space, the organization, all so awesome! Congrats and Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteBeautimus, just yeah, that!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'm so glad you got a top loading washing machine. I was just cussing my in no way practical front loader today!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about a deep freeze and Steven insisted we get one anyway. What was I thinking? How do people live without them?
Also, towel bar on your dryer? Genius!!
Mission complete. Looks fantabulous! Hope your whole family is enjoying the cheery, sunshiny new laundry room.
ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful, and I'm so happy for you guys!
ReplyDeleteIt looks totally fab! And, are those fancy little doorknobs on that cabinet? You don't think people will notice, but we do. Oh, we do. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful, absolutely wonderful! The water softener will be a lifesaver, especially with the cloth diapers. We cloth diapered with hard water and it ruined our diapers, totally destroyed over $200 worth of diapers we'd used for 2 years previously without any problem. The water softener really does help get everything so much cleaner.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love the curtains, they're the perfect splash of color in that room with the cheery yellow and whites! I also love that it's become such a multi-purpose room for you guys in a good way rather than the prior catchall way :)
Applause!
ReplyDeleteIt's really gorgeous and I'm so happy that you get to use it every day. Enjoy it! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mother has been ogling over this for the past few hours. And it's only 7 a.m. This may be the last time she's allowed to use my laptop.
ReplyDeleteOh, so beautiful!!! I love the wall color and the curtains. I love all of it!! I am soooo happy for you, Dwija. Yay!!! Praise God!!
ReplyDeleteI love it. You got some great taste! The curtains, the turquoise table. Pretty sweet!
ReplyDeleteI like the lighting, too.
One time we went to Home Depot, and some pervy employee had mounted two of those lights side by side for an endcap display. I'm not gonna lie...I laughed pretty hard. We call those "boob lights" now. lol
I'm happy for you, girl! You deserve thatbright & beautiful laundry room:)
I'm quite honked off that I haven't been seeing these posts in my feed. This room is fantastic!!!! You have to feel like a huge yoke was taken right off your shoulders. I'd consider taking a sleeping bag in there and spending a few days/nights. One of my favorite parts: the Meijer ice cream buckets on the shelf. We have the same ones on our mud room shelf, waiting for their turn to be compost buckets.
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so happy for you!
Looks gorgeous and wonderful. I don't know how you DON'T spend all day in there!
