Don't let the door hit ya, October

Boy. Was October a poop-fest or what? I don't know. Maybe it was awesome for you.  But for me it was like...it was like I was starring in a new reality show about how to be the most boring, most suck-tastic, most non-homemakerest woman in the world with an added helping of Terriblest Homeschooler Ever.  Or maybe it was just the last week of October and it gave the entirety of October a bad name.  Whatever it was, thank God it's over.  OVER.  OVAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Anyway, we celebrated the blessed arrival of November with a last minute bonfire par-tay on Sunday and I've basically been doing dishes since then, which is totally worth it but explains my absence from ye olde internet.  As if you were concerned.

Speaking of said par-tay- Tommy has done brewed himself some proper cider because none of the grown up ciders have met with his stingy approval.  To be totally honest, the cider isn't really ready yet, but he made people try it anyway.  How kind of him!  But really I'm telling you this so I can show you the absolutely adorbz labels that Paul and Cecilia made for the bottles.
Rainbow Label --Cecilia, age 3
Pauly's Wonderful Cider -- Paul, age 6

Also, I'm going to make all reasonable people of the world angry and say I am in LOVE with this time change right now.  I didn't change a dang thing and suddenly everyone is magically going to bed and getting up an hour earlier.  Thank you, Lord!  Give me the light shining at 7 a.m. again!

Okay, enough.  Love you, missed you, Mary hollering to be rescued from her crib.

  1. October wasn't much fun here either and the end of DST has been just fine too. The kids had been going to bed at 10pm and getting up at 9am and that just needed to stop.

    1. Huh? I would $5000 (that I don't have) to have my kids wake up at 9:00!!!!

  2. You are not alone! October is sucktastic, minus the bombdiggity feast days and Gia's bday (though to be fair that contribute to chaos at the Casa too). So glad to move on!

You are not alone, although my particular brand of this malady seems to be continuing on into November. Ugh.

  4. Normally I heart everything about October (which all the feast days and my son's baptism day are always awesome), but both my boys got all snotty on me the last two weekkkkks! Being a newbie mama, mothering two sick boys (one toddler and the other sick for the first time ever ever ever at 8 months) was HARD! Not to mention the toddler having a go at potty-training nearly made me crawl into a closet to hide from pee, poo, snot, and tears. Oye! Praying November is sweeter! and less snot and tear filled!

  6. awww man I hate the time change. I'm stuck at work all day and I never get to see any daylight. It's pitch black by the time I emerge from the lab!

  7. Omigosh, cider?!?! How does it compare to brewing beer? My hubby has done a variety of beers but we've never done cider and I looooooooove cider.

  8. My October wasn't awful, per se, but it sure wasn't great. November already seem infinitely better. I am digging the time change too, but am dreading that the morning are just going to keep getting darker . . . again. *sigh* Here's to a great month!

  9. Worst October of my life. Here's hoping November is better. It could be a few years until my life is better, though. Love the time change too!

  10. We, too, had a suck-tastic October! Not of the traumatic variety, just of the underachiever/blah variety, and started it off with a dose of pass-around-the-sickness. :)

Yay for seeing something good in November - usually I'm mourning it's arrival! (Save All Saints Day - that gets me through!)

  11. Yeah, yeah yeah, October sucked. Can we get to the part where Tommy sends me some of that cider? Because, like, I'm a cider connoisseur. For realz. I've had independent cider-makers follow me on Twitter just because I Tweet about dang cider so much.

And has Tommy tried Woodchuck's Pumpkin cider? What about the Woodchuck Pink? How about Angry Orchard's ginger? I need to talk to Tommy.

  12. I love the time change too...especially the fall one. Because I hate dark, dark mornings and I love , love, love kids going to bed earlier.

  13. K. I feel better. Maybe God had a world-wide plan to make October suck? Here's to better wrap up to 2013!

  15. I hear ya on the bad homemaker and bad homeschooler front. My excuse is lots and lots of illnesses (and there are only 4 of us!). Mainly I'm just waiting for 2013 to end.

  16. I think the time change was colored with a case of stomach flu, other than that, it usually is that magical reset where we're able to get up earlier :)
