In which I do an amazing impression of Jennifer Fulwiler

The talk around the virtual water cooler today is aaaaaaaaaaaaall about Jen's book being released yesterday and the trailer for said book being shared today.  So I started watching the trailer and I was like "Wow.  This is incredible. Everyone is so poised and collected and well spoken. Oh my gosh, am I starting to cry??? (I was).  I'm so grateful she thought to include me in this proj....."

At which point we arrive at my little segment at 2:07

First, watch the trailer, then I shall EXPLAIN WHY ALL THE THINGS.

So there I am, already jittery because a video call is like a telephone call on steroids (and we all know what phone calls do to me.  And steroids.  But not really the steroids.  Just the phone calls.) and sweet Jennifer, in all her soothing sweetness and putting you at ease kindness says:

"Okay, I'm going to mute myself SO THAT I DON'T DISTRACT YOU (emphasis mine) and you just read and don't stop if you mess up."

Whew.  Okay.  I can handle that.  Deep breath.

And THEN (emphasis still mine), as I'm trying to be sleek and chic and enunciate and do her proud, I see her doing this on my screen:

See, apparently silent Jen had made e-friends with my 6 year old son over my shoulder via the magic of our shared video-call experience and suddenly he appears in his lion Tina Turner costume and she is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacking up whilst I, and I quote, "don't know what's going on!"

Ah yes.  So professional.  Much clearness of speech.

OBVIOUSLY I would have been, like, great or something if it weren't for Jen's insta bond with my carnivorous feline pop-star child.

But she kept me in anyway because she is incredibly charitable.  And loves cats...?

  2. I watched the whole video earlier, and your part was my favorite! I also liked her husband dressed as a banana. This probably says something about me as a person, but I'll pretend it doesn't.

  14. Why, oh why, does my Skype recorder not capture both of us on the video? If I had footage of me, I would totally post it so that everyone could see that your impression is dead-on.

So, so, so happy to have you involved!!!

  18. That was awesome. I think your part was the perfect illustration of how life with kids isn't how you thought it would be, but it's better and crazier.

  19. Haha, the promo video was hilarious and touching but your re-make just adds so much depth ;) Love the back story!

So, essentially what you're saying is it's all Jen's fault? :)

You are just a real person, and that, my friend, is what makes you SO AWESOME!

  27. I dad the whole thing in one sitting. And wrote a amazon review before I fell asleep. A book like that doesn't come across very often.
