Laundry room reveal! (before & after)

I keep waiting for the perfect amount of sunlight and the perfect artwork and for every bit of the room to be perfectly clean, but you know what?  Life, y'all.  A whole lot of life happens in a laundry-room/mudroom combo when you have eight humans and two dogs living in one house, know what I'm saying?  So I'm just gonna show you now and it's gon' be great.  Greaty greaty great great.

Ready?

Before:

taken the first weekend after we closed on the house

taken after our first weeks of living here

You know why I started with this room?  Because we haven't closed on the sale of the old house and can't rip out the kitchen yet!  Yay!  (it's going to be so wonderful/horrible when we get to that point, see.ree.ous.LEE.)

Ready for the mostly finished product?

I got this stick up light from Amazon to brighten up my laundry corner.  Cheesy Catholiciness ftw.

that set of cubbies on the left isn't even finished.  They didn't have enough pieces in stock at Menards, dagnabit!

tools on the bench = real life happening

Do you love it?  Wanna see what took the longest?

Fixing.  This.  Ceiling.

But it was sooooo worth it.  And it was basically an exercise regimen, what with the up-and-down off the step stool and the arms-over-the-head-bicep-burn

  1. I think the only thing this post is missing is a bicep before/after. Let's see those muscles, woman!

  5. I love it! It's so fresh & feminine & bright.

The pic my feed displayed with this post was one of the "befores" and I was feeling pretty worried. Along the lines of "but this is worse". So glad it wasn't true, lol.

  8. Gorgeous!! 8 humans and that room looks terrific! I am down to the two of us (well, kinda almost 3) and I would just curl up and die if my laundry room looked that fabulous!!! You are the winner!!!

  9. The paint is great, but thank you for caulking! Makes a world of difference. Also, cabinets in a laundry room are a winning idea. Great job.

  12. Your caulk job looks fantastic. When we renovated our nursery, I felt like putting so many hours (so many!) into the caulking was worthless, but it makes a HUGE difference in how finished everything looks! Looks great!!

  15. I love seeing the house blessing! Just this last Christmas we learned this was a thing...and then came home to our purchased-right-before-Christmas house and found the blessing over one of our doors! From 1999! So cool!

  20. Okay, I'm missing something. What is the algebra-looking code on your door? Love love love the colors. So fun. You are my hero when it comes to house-doing and ohmygoshidon'tknowthefirstthingaboutwhatproducttgoesonwhatproblem. Can I rack your brain when it comes time? (P.s. It really is rack and not wrack. I just had to check, because nerd.)

  21. I like it very much! The color and the trim are great and I love the windows and that door! In my entryway I needed coat space so I bought an 8 ft pine board (super cheap) painted it matte black and put 12 large white screw hooks into it, (rubberized so I can hang wet things without rust forming). It cost less than $15 and looks really nice, something like that would be good in there.

  22. I have laundry room envy right now. Thank you for the link to the light. I work in an interior office and my workspace is under a set of shelves that creates a dark spot. worst of all I have used all of the electrical outlets so no room for a desk lamp.

  24. Love the colour of the door, the ceiling and the cabinets above the washer/dryer. How was it that there weren't any before? Seems like such an obvious need right by the washer/dryer! Great job with the cheery colours!
