We are in southwest Michigan, zone 6b so our average last day of frost is the first week of May. We started our more tender seedlings indoors and then transplanted them the second week of May. The hardier plants (snow peas, english garden peas, potatoes, spinach) are well suited to our climate and can be started outdoors before the last frost, so those went in the first week of April.

Here's the book I've been using (as this is my first garden ever, I needed a lot of help) : http://www.amazon.com/Guide-Michigan-Vegetable-Gardening-Guides/dp/159186402X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306419718&sr=8-1

Hope that helps!Dwija {House Unseen}https://www.blogger.com/profile/17887429052179249473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6378450001604002654.post-12999007742746536592011-05-26T10:18:40.908-04:002011-05-26T10:18:40.908-04:00Hi, I'm new to your blog and just read it all ...Hi, I'm new to your blog and just read it all over the past few days. I have a question about your garden - how did you get to start it so early in April? Doesn't it frost where you are in April? I live in Southern MN and we still haven't started our garden. It's just too cold still. We can probably start planting the seeds this weekend now. But I was just wondering how you were able to plant them so early.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6378450001604002654.post-77574141033351155742011-05-26T00:03:44.366-04:002011-05-26T00:03:44.366-04:00We just started getting cucumbers and tomatoes fro...We just started getting cucumbers and tomatoes from our garden and it's heavenly.
