Paper Plates
Y'all, I do usually care about the Earth and stuff. I mean we gots the composting and the gardening and the recycling and all the INGs, but dang- when a new baby comes, you buy yourself the super jumbo package of paper plates. I mean, put that ish on your baby registry if you have to. Because you know the only thing more awesome than when friends bring you meals? You know it: not having any dishes to wash when you're done.

Complete Pancake mix
Speaking of emergency baby mode, if you want to hang on to the potential of some semblance of fanciness, keep some of this in your pantry stash. Your other kids will think you are the miracle worker of all miracle workers and really all you did is run your tap water into a bowl with some powder with one hand while holding a newborn in the other.

Miss Jessie's Original Quick Curls
I got a sample of this in my last Birchbox and even though

Paddle-to-the-Sea
Another homeschooling, fellow-parishioner mom friend of mine (she doesn't have a blog. Hey Meghan if you're reading this! I'm so glad we got to be friends, fo realio) recommended this a few weeks ago so I snatched it up for the small-kid nightly read aloud sessions. Paul, who will be 7 in August, is enchanted by this book. Cecilia, who is 4, is moderately interested. That's winning enough for me. History and geography and animal science hidden in an exciting story? Yes please.

Even if you're usually like certain bloggers that shall remain unnamed (CARI) and don't watch videos embedded into blog posts, just watch this. Watch and know my heart.
I've done No Scrubs at a karaoke bar before. Somehow it probably would've sounded better if I could make it sound like that^. Ooh, an excellent find right there, my dear.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should also admit to watching the movie they made about TLC while I'm still here listening. It was fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI'll show myself out now.
I'm almost certain you and I were separated at birth. I love you. And I mean that in the creepiest way possible.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Creepy Sarah. We may be triplets. CREEPY triplets.
DeleteLol, this is just funny Sarah and Mitzi. Embrace the creepiness!
Deletepaper plates, paper napkins, paper underwear. They should make paper underwear.
ReplyDeleteIn the 60's paper clothes were a thing. =)
DeleteDisposable socks been saying it for years!!!
DeleteHa! I just made those exact pancakes b/c the hubby is out of town and I be lazy. No newborn required. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh that video!! Through the whole lead-in I was just wondering, wondering if it was going to be THAT Scrubs song, because surely not. . . Then! I couldn't look away. And even with the guy's accent, I actually understood most of the words to that song for the first time ever.
ReplyDeleteThat song. Is. My. Jam. And I had to give up paper plates for lent because I just love them that much. And it was a hard 40 days. We may have eaten off of paper towels one night because I was so sick of dishes.
ReplyDeleteIt's summer, so no socks. And kids playing in sprinklers= no baths. Winning!
ReplyDeleteUm, BASTILLE. I love them... And using paper plates is a good idea!
ReplyDeleteCountry Girl's Daybook: Jesus, Photography, Fashion, & Food
Paddle to-the-sea is also an awesome National Film Board of Canada short film. I loved it so much when I was a kid! You can watch it on YouTube or NFB.ca :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for some new hair product - post baby hair in Georgia summer weather = I'll try anything!! That's for the share
ReplyDeleteI have a lovely apartment in my parents' basement that has all the comforts of home except a kitchen. Due to my semi-disabled status cooking is difficult. Fortunately, my dad and my son are great cooks so almost every day a decent dinner is only a stair climb away. I can climb stairs - but not without pain and not often - so almost all my meals are on disposable dishes so that I don't have to climb the stairs again to put them in the dishwasher after the meal. I consider this my guilt-free pass to using paper plates! And let's not discuss hair as I am naturally curly in the deep South. Not pretty.
ReplyDeleteJust recently I purchased 6 fancy plastic plates from of all places the dollar tree. Yes, they are the hard plastic the kind they come up with each Spring and I love them so light and they look like real china. They are for when we have company (family) over for a BBQ~ other than that it is Paper plates all the way. I got rid of all my glass plates ..My glasses are the nice clear hard plastic ones too those I got at Pier one. and again, those are for Sundays.. I have foam paper cups for during the week..
ReplyDeleteand it feels so goood.
Man, I was sort of hoping that the Miss Jessie's would take my fine, bodyless hair, and make it gorgeous. Have #3 due in 4 weeks, really at a loss on my hair.
ReplyDeleteBut paper plates, for sure!
I also love Bastille's cover of We Can't Stop. Genius.
ReplyDeleteWhats a postpartum Five Favorite without a picture of the very newish one?
ReplyDeleteLame-ish! :)
Don't miss all of Holling C. Holling's other titles! Our mostest favoritest was Tree in the Trail! He also has Seabird, Minn of the Mississippi, and Pagoo. All great books! You have beautiful children and the last one absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeletePaper plates!!!!! A big fat favey right now, too! And I have to wait for the oppportune moment to listen to the Bastille thingy (the boys hear a tune and they wake from naps from all ends of the house to come see what I'ma doin'.) AND! I love your headshot/bio over thar. :)
