The other day when I first posted after my super long hiatus, many people left excellent suggestions and requests for before/after photos of home projects. Well well well, don't mind if I do throw a couple up here for your enjoyment.
We'll do the living room today, okay?
Here is the photo from the listing:
And this is the first pic I took on closing day:
And then it got REAL up in here...
When I randomly do things like tear out half walls, my kids know to make themselves scarce.
But tada!
And to the right where the deer heads were:
And to the left (a photo from December, obvi):
My only regret is that I can't find the pic of the bear skin that was hanging on the wall when we first saw the house. Learn from my mistakes, friends!
(as always, pop your q's in the combox or on the media of socials)
I hate to tell you this... but I thought the 'before' photo was beautiful. Not ugly at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just got a bearskin rug for in front of our woodstove/fireplace...a childhood dream that finally came true.
Not all your readers think a style like this is horrible!
Having a different style doesn't mean I think all styles unlike mine are horrible! That would be terrible, don't you think? I also don't like super traditional or ultra modern, but if someone enjoys that in their own home, more power to them :).
DeleteYeah, my hunting sons would have loved the dear heads and bearskin rug. Me, not so much, but I would have put up with it. Our house has an alpine, rustic feel and the previous owners (who lived here a long time) put in a light fixture made from a wagon wheel in the living room. It's not my thing, but since everyone else in the family likes it and it would be so complicated to remove and replace, it stays.
DeleteLove the removal of the half wall! It was odd to begin with and just by taking it down it really opened up that space!
ReplyDeleteIt was really hard to understand why it was there at all, truly. It took all of 20 minutes to take down!
DeleteI also liked that you removed the door from in front of the staircase. The half wall and that door were just too much! Not needed and taking up space. It looks breathable now. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the door was so beautiful, Aileen. So beautiful as a door! But the placement just didn't work for me. It's currently waiting in the barn for me to think of what we might do with it. It is ENORMOUS.
DeleteHeadboard!
DeleteCan you make it into a table? I see that a lot on Pinterest, and I REALLY want to do it. Except it could end up a total fail. But a table from a door is, in my opinion, oh so very cool.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! So cozy, like it belongs in a magazine cozy!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so opens that area up :-) Nothing like pulling out a wall to make a girl feel great.
ReplyDeleteLove before/afters! Yours looks great! Love the removal of the wall and the added color!
ReplyDeleteYour living room looks so much better. That little wall was odd. I am in the middle of a living room renovation that I had hoped would be done before home schooling was in the full swing. I am whitewashing the old knotty pine in our living room. Always enjoy your posts!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cozy and inviting now! Did you restain the floors?
