Degrees and kids and birds and SUMMER (7qt)

(1)
This morning I peeled myself out from between my toasty warm child sandwich.  Or was it a mom sandwich?  Mom sandwich with kid bread.  Yeah, that's what it was.  So the filling peeled herself out of bed into the silent, chilly house and went to check the temperature on ye olde atomic clock that hangs in the dining room.

12 degrees.

Dagnabit!

But wait.  What's that little mark there in front of the 12?  A MINUS SIGN, PEOPLE.  Negative twelve degrees.  Honestly...if my kids didn't love going to co-op so much, I woulda thrown in the towel right then.  But not literally because a towel can also be used as a small makeshift blanket and at that point I needed all the help I could get.

Nothin' to see here, folks

Right before I sat down to write this, I was making 20 copies of color and shape sorting worksheets for the pre-schoolers in our co-op tomorrow and packing my extrabag (all one word) with art supplies and an ergo and seven shirts that can be worn as smocks.  Because you just never can tell with 3 and 4 year olds.

This Week's 5 Favorite Homeschooling Resources

I'm pretty sure I read in the fine print that no homeschooler is permitted to participate in the 7 posts in 7 days festival without devoting at least one to the schoolin' of the youngins.  And I am a rule follower, people. Give me my gold star and certificate of achievement and my green light in the classroom and...an m&m.  Or whatever you use to reward kids.  Give me all the rewards!

A Tale of Two Checkout Lines

Normally my husband picks up dog food on the way home from work.  But somehow he didn't and we needed it so yesterday before dinner I decided that I would go.  Our 11 year old daughter asked to tag along.

I'm giving you this terribly boring introduction because it often seems that when I find myself doing something unusual, something unusual ends up finding me.  So this was unusual and yes, it became more unusual.

My enormous belly preceded me, of course, at the cash register.  The cashier smiled as she scanned our purchase.  "Boy, I can't wait for August...." to which I replied, with a quick glance outside at the terribly frozen, snow-covered parking lot, "Tell me about it."

Pigtails

So here I am on day one of seven posts in a row and all I've got for you are these probably-sinfully cute pig tails that Mary sported for the first time on Friday courtesy of her favorite Lizzy of all time.

Food and funny stuff and dishes and math and.... (7qt) (phfr) (TT)

{pretty}

Lately I've been intrigued by the idea of charisms, but I think figuring out a charism is like...scratching a back.  You just can't do your own.  Or at least I can't do mine.  But I can do my husband's, oh yes I can.  And do you know what his charism is?  Finding neat dishes at thrift stores.

Splurge vs. Steal : eye makeup

Shamelessly ripping off your favorite girly magazine with a little splurge vs. steal beauty product action on this beautiful, sunny Wednesday.

"Please sir, I want some more" homemade toothpaste recipe

When I get pregnant, I cannot STAND using regular toothpaste.  It really makes me gag.  Then my eldest daughter did some reading about SLS (sodium laurel sulfate), discovered that it is probably quite not good for us, and we decided to give some all natural toothpaste a try.  But before I took the plunge and bought all the ingredients, I ordered this natural toothpaste off of Etsy so we could see if we even liked it.

And we did.

After a whole week, this is what I give you? (7qt)

(1)
Oh my sweet moses.  What is up with this sciatica business?  What is UP, y'all?  For 7 whole days I have not blogged because I'm old and decrepit.  Apparently.  See, I can't stand for long periods.  Nor can I sit in a firm chair.  Which means I can walk around (not carrying anyone or anything) and I can lie down.

Hahahahahahaha!  Lie down!  Woooooheeeee!  Funny stuff, amiright?

Not so Great Expectations

The other day I read this post by...um (...Michelle Duggar...) this amazing woman with more than three times as many children as I have and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall week long I've been meaning to write something about it.  About the idea of expectations being our enemy.  Or rather, expectations being the door through which the Enemy has access to us.  But it hasn't happened because, you guessed it, real life didn't coincide with my expectations.  Hah!

Laugh then say WOO HOO!

{pretty}
Look!  I just hopped in my car and leisurely drove to our parish church and took this photo of a baptism in progress to link up with Cari's Theme Thursday: church windows.  Aren't you impressed with my gumption?  Or some other more appropriate word?

The devil totally poops snow

I had big plans. Big ideas. Lots of amazing stuff to say, people!  Okay, maybe not that amazing.  But stuff.  Real words.  But instead Snowpocolypse #728 happened in this most horrid of all winters and my brain is too fried from this morning's adventure to say anything of value.  Instead I will share with you one of my uber uber profesh diagrams while I rant.

Kzoo Air Zoo photo dump

Did I forget to be a mommy blogger last week?  Probably.  So Imma make up for it with six thousand photos from Saturday which I'll pretend are  interesting to you by intermittently complaining about how hard it is to take photos inside a dark building without using a flash.  Err'body loves complaining!

 ISO1600, f1.8, slow shutter speed.  Results: many blurry photos. Such glare.
