"Tuck your elbows in!"
"Smash the camera against your face!"
"Wait until it focuses on the right place before you take the shot!"
On deaf ears, I tell you. On. Deaf. Ears.
For your viewing enjoyment, another blurry installment of What I Wore Sunday courtesy of my second child:
Top: Sonoma (probably Kohl's) via Goodwill, which I altered yesterday using single-seam method
Cardi: Mossimo (probably Target) via hand-me-down bag
Jeans: some brand called 21 from an off-brand store at the mall in Temecula because...wait for it...my daily-wear pair of skinnies that have heretofore dominated my attire is now [insert drumroll here] TOO BIG!
Now let me point out what you're already thinking...same color scheme and earrings as two weeks ago. Same boots as every dang week. Same cardi as week 2, just in a different color. I started feeling lame. Like "okay, people are gonna start getting bored". But then I realized that this is part of the "secret" of getting to Mass on time(ish) with kids and not looking, therefore not feeling, therefore not acting, like an encrusted turd: A system!
I've got my system. Cardigans to give coverage while nursing. Long tops to cover the muffin. Dark jeans (Clearly I don't subscribe to the denim is always less appropriate than any other fabric philosophy. Plus, by adhering to the clothing mores of our parish, I can draw as little attention of any variety to myself as possible.) that fit properly. Snazzy it up with a pair of earrings or a necklace to remind myself that this is my weekly date with Jesus. Voila!
Do you have a system? How about color combos you love to pair again and again?
Don't forget to visit the other linkers over at Fine Linen & Purple!
You always look good so the system works. I really like that top.
ReplyDeletetripod? :)
ReplyDeletelove your outfit!
You look gorgeous as always! My favorite accessory is that precious baby! These pics remind me of those photos of St. Gianna Molla with her little one. So, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI always wear the same colors. Maybe next week I'll write about how I picked them! My colors are black, white, metallic, pink, green, red, purple and some navy. Anything other that...I can't pull off.
Hey if the system works don't knock it! And the colours are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOn the upside, I did not notice these HUGE similarities to past outfits, mostly because I'm forgetful and overwhelmed after clicking thru 30+ blog entries every Sunday. Good news for you, bad news for everyone around me!
ReplyDeleteAmazing cardi, btw.
Having a system is great!
ReplyDeleteIf it ain't broke don't fix it, girl! And you GO GIRL on the jeans-now-too-big front!
ReplyDeleteIn the first couple months after giving birth, I exclusively wear "My Sunday Best Dress". Every baptism from Gabriel on, I'm in that dress. It's forgiving, it's easy to nurse in, and I don't have to think about it.
ReplyDeleteBy the time I don't feel like I'm drowning, I can spend more time picking my Mass outfit, and I can happily put that bad boy away until next baby.
Yeaaaaah I'm there. Which is why I have never done a WIWS link up yet...
DeleteI heart your shirt and your baby... both are too cute. I actually like a blurry photo sometimes.. kind of artsy.
ReplyDeleteHooray for jeans being too big! I read a blog post somewhere about having a "uniform"--basically a go-to type of outfit for days you don't have time to over-think it. I'm still working on mine, but it's a lot like your system. I really love that shirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks! When I took it off the rack at Goodwill, I almost didn't get it. But then Paul said "that shirt is nice" and then I HAD to get it because what 5 year old compliments mom's clothes???
DeleteYou always have the nicest clothes..you look great!
ReplyDeleteThat "weekly date with Jesus" line totally rocks.
ReplyDeleteYou always have the nicest thrifted and masterfully-altered clothes! It really is a talent to be able to separate "the wheat from the chaff" in thrift stores and then have the creativity to know that you could fix something to make it fabulous. I think I'm just lazy. And I'm afraid to go to Goodwill because it's in a scary part of town :( Anyway, great job, I'm super impressed!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I never have such luck with thrifted things. Love your top and the boots rock too!
ReplyDeleteYour momma-baby pictures are ADORABLE, as is your outfit =)
ReplyDeleteCute love the cardigan
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I love your clothes choices! If it ain't broke ... don't fix it. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I love that shirt. That is right up my alley, I tell you.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's your shutter speed at? Making it faster might help a shaky jr. photography. I'd be sure to be at least at 1/250.... maybe faster, like 1/400-- but then you'll have to either open up your lens wider or boost your ISO.
Anyway, feel free to email me to brainstorm. :) I don't really know what I'm doing, but it's more fun to bumble around in the dark with friends.
OK. I get that its VERY weird for a guy to comment on this post. But... Those wood floors are da bomb!
ReplyDeleteYellow pine! Amazing. They are the only redeeming quality of this house and they are ONLY in that one room. Such a travesty.
DeleteI really like your top. Very fun and cute. Not boring!
ReplyDeleteTotal success! The one-seam method is so brilliant, I have to go try it on half a dozen things. so simple and clever, but not even New Dress a Day thought of it (have you looked at that blog? you might like it. I devoured it over Christmas break. she has systems, too. so good to learn). The color combos you do are great. we neeeeeed the vibrancy in this Indiana/Michigan part of the world! you makin motherhood look good, sister.
