Homemade Goodness is always Gooder Goodness

When our grouch-tastic mail lady dropped two boxes out of her vehicle onto the ground at the base of our driveway yesterday, I was sure it was just things for our (never ending) bedroom redo.  And one box was.  But in the OTHER box was a surprise!

Or really five surprises.

A big thank-you to my wonderful sister in law Paula (she and her husband own Aquinas and More, did you know?  So if you're about to order some Catholic-y stuff, you know where to shop...) and her sweet, helpful children for these delicious homemade treats.

Just look at all the fabulous goodness we've been able to enjoy the last two days!
They are all third-helping delicious.

And let's not forget the precious hat that the Choke Cherry Jam was wearing.

Don't you just wish you could shrink your head all Beetlejuicey like and wear that as a little bonnet?

  7. I always love reading your musings Dweej! Where else can you find raunchalicious mailwomen and shrinking heads for the sake of wearing prettily knitted jar toppers? ;D xoxo!

  8. I love, love, LOVE homemade jellies and jams. One of the kids in my CCD class brought me apple cider jelly and ginger peach jelly, and I just about tackled her out of appreciation.

Sometimes I think I verge on overenthusiastic.

Maybe if you share some of the jelly with your mail lady, her heart would soften toward you?

  9. Oh Dwija, there is nothing like looking at beautiful pictures of homemade jams and jellies and then having the image of Michael Keaton eating a roach pop into my head. Awesome. You have an awesome SIL! I'm off to look at her shop. Who doesn't need more Catholic-y things?

  11. Yum - that was so sweet of her - and is there anything better in the world than unexpected deliciousness?
Also, you look fabulous - I always looked like a whale while pregnant, even with my 1st!

  13. So glad to know the connection with Aquinas and More ~ will definitely keep this in mind. Are you feeling pregnantly better now? Seems so ; hope so!

  14. Anonymous: the round cookies are hard-as-rocks-gingersnaps. They are AWESOME with milk, coffee, hot cocoa.... Just about anything but beer - sorry, Dweej.

Dwija, I am so glad you all enjoyed the goodies! I was talking to Tommy about a book set in Michigan the other day. It has essays and RECIPES for lots of yummy preserves, etc. I was inspired to buy my own canning equipment, instead of canning at my MIL's only in the fall with hers. We'll definitely try to make the jams-n-jellies a yearly Christmas gift tradition! It is fun to share all that preserved goodness.

    Love you!
    Paula
