Oh my gosh. You guys. Moving is insane. Who invented "moving" anyway? And it's not all the stuff you're thinking about, like the paperwork and the endless phone calls and the putting of each individual glass from your kitchen into cardboard boxes. Well yeah, it's all that. But it's not JUST all that. It's the cleaning! Holy. Mackerel.
The cleaning.
I am in super-duper-clean-all-the-things-non-stop mode these days. The regular house things, yes, but also the chil'rens. Because kids gotta be kids, you know? The syrup and the dirt and the dog hair. Have fun. Be happy. But mama can't have the syrup and the dirt and the dog hair all over her freshly painted, pristine wall of pristine-ness, no she cannot.
And let's not forget the beginning of cold and flu season! No, no, no. Between carting the littles to co-op, to rehearsals to drop off and pick up the big kids, to the barn for riding lessons and on any number of errands in between, we are bound to be picking up our share of germs 'round here.
Anyway, needless to say I was legitimately stoked a few weeks ago when I found out that Babyganics wanted me to try their non-toxic cleaning products. And other things too! But I didn't even realize that, the thing about the other things, until I had already said yes because NON-TOXIC CLEANING PRODUCTS.
Did I mention cleaning products? For free? And yes, other things too.
First the haul, from left to right:
face, hand & baby wipes (unscented)
toy & highchair cleaner spray (unscented)
foaming dish & bottle soap (citrus)
foaming hand sanitizer (mandarin)
moisturizing baby lotion (chamomile verbena)
Right after I snapped the photo above, Tommy started a teeny tiny bit hyperventilating about a diaper "situation" he had just discovered. So you know what I did? I grabbed that package of wipes right out of my snazzy set-up and tossed it over to him so we could put them to the real test pronto.
The way the package opens is excellent. The little sticky flap that usually sticks to the wipe and makes you say bad words as you try to hold two legs with one hand and extract the wipe with the other? Yeah, there's none of that here. The flap stays flat open. Whoever designed that should get a prize.
As for cleaning, they did a good job. They don't have that slimy texture you find with some wipes or the thin fabric feeling of others (those always start shredding into little pieces when I used them, you know?).
What can I say? I think about baby wipes a lot. Anyway, I was really impressed. They're also good for face and hands and gentle enough for eczema prone skin, which is great because clean all the things!!!!
Now, I know the spray cleaner says "toy and highchair" but I went ahead and used it all over my kitchen. The counters, the front of the oven, the top of the coffee maker. Then I used it in all sorts of other places around the house. It doesn't smell like anything and you don't have to rinse it off (you just wipe it dry) and if someone were to come and lick the countertop (hey, I wouldn't put it past them) they'd be totally not poisoned because non-toxic. Sweet.
Added bonus: when little hands want to help, you don't have to turn them away. Many levels of win.
Let's move on to our first scented item, shall we? This is the foaming dish & bottle soap in the citrus scent.
I totally saved the Pyrex pan from making Dutch baby pancakes for dinner (because I'm all about that health, 'bout that health...) so I could hand wash it with this soap for the purposes of reviewing it fo-o-or youuuuuuu (thanks, Elmo). Cecilia, the most sensitive nosed of my children, liked the way it smelled and my hands felt not at all dry and scaly when I was finished.
And a little by accident I also discovered that this soap makes GREAT bubbles, so for a few minutes I forgot that I'm not really "The Fun Mom" and I blew totally non-toxic bubbles in my kitchen with two of the above-mentioned children and it was pretty awesome.
Bloodhound Ceci gave an enthusiastic thumbs up for the smell of the hand-sanitizer and I'm giving another one for the fact that it's alcohol free. I actually got a three-pack of 50 ml travel sizes of this so I could carry one in my purse, put one in the car, and stash one with the diapering crate that I keep in the living room.
It really does absorb right in and your hands don't feel dry or overly fragranced. I can't deal with that fruity mcfruiterson stuff, y'all. Cannot deal. This is not like that. It's truly pleasant to use.
And finally, my favorite thing of all! Yes, I was surprised, what with my obsession with cleaning stuff these days and all that. But seriously this lotion. First of all, it smells really nice. Not perfume nice but kind of herbishy nice. Does that make sense? Sort of like...herbal tea or something.
Clearly a scent-describer I am not. Is there a word for that? Olfactoryer? Anyway. A baby lotioner I can be as long as the lotion is this. Everyone's skin always starts to get really dry in the winter once we're running the heater all dagblam day long, too, and I know we will all happily use this lotion. It feels great, smells great, and lasts a long time. Babyganics moisturizing baby lotion: not just for babies anymore. Zomg, just thought of that all by myself. That should totally be their new slogan!

Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own. They're compensating me because dang, this took a long time to put together! But I only agreed to do it because I think these products are worth it. Bueno? Bueno.
So, weirdly, I like looking at and buying cleaning supplies, but I'm awful at using them! I like how you used each thing for more than its prescribed purpose. Multipurpose cleaning products for the win!
ReplyDeleteI think the herbal lotion sounds great! And the baby wipes are pretty impressive! Tweeted here: https://twitter.com/SarahBrooks180/status/522783438441443331
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine came over and used the wipes the other day, not knowing I was reviewing them. The first thing she said was "whoa, these are really nice!" Tada! Blind wipey test :)
DeleteWipes, but maybe all purp cleaner….and yet lotion. Although I'm partial to my "secret" lotion a la olive oil+lavender. So, WIPES!!!

I'm with Sarah, the herbal lotion and baby wipes are what caught my eye. My daughter has wicked eczema so I'm always on the lookout for lotion that keeps her skin from drying out but also is basically no more harmful than water because the slightest chemical additive makes the eczema worse instead of better. And my husband HATES anything floral-y scented, so herbal is definitely a win here too.
ReplyDeleteDish soap - my 4 year old actually enjoys "doing the dishes" (=putting hands in bubbles and pouring soapy water back and forth into cups). Would be nice to have a more natural dish soap.
ReplyDeleteWe have some super sensitive smellers in our house. So I am eyeing the cleaning spray. Do you think it would clean grimy fingerprints off of fridges or stainless steel??
ReplyDeleteI used it on the front of my oven and the front of my dishwasher! Not stainless, but still gross and it worked :)
DeleteI'd love to try their wipes!
ReplyDeleteMy little one loves to help clean. I am super curious about these products. I am going to hunt them down, and give them a try. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try their sanitizer!!! I like to keep one in all the places as well!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a wee bit obsessed with the alcohol free hand sanitizer! I like germ free kids.
ReplyDeleteI like the Babyganics sunscreen and would definitely like to try the lotion. But also the cleaner and the dish and bottle soap. I like cleaning things too, and I totally get in that mode when we move! Not that we ever plan to move again at the moment, but with a new baby scheduled to arrive in a few short months, I'm sure I'll be in clean-all-the-things mode pretty soon anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteIntrigued but is it really better than cheap-o vinegar?
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm not sure which is better, but I do know that if my big kids use the wrong ration of vinegar + water, there is a distinct "fish and chips restaurant" fragrance hanging about my house, whereas the Babyganics unscented spray is truly smell-free.
DeleteWhat is the price point of these cleaners?? Where do you buy them?
ReplyDeleteYou can get them on Amazon or diapers.com or at Target or Meijer...You know what? I should just share the finder with you :) : http://babyganics.com/retailers/map/
DeleteI'm still thinking about that herbal lotion.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I would love the cleaning spray!
ReplyDeleteIntrigued by the lotion and the ingredients therein! Also the dish soap!
ReplyDeleteHere is a link straight to the lotion- there's a handy dandy ingredients tab right underneath: http://www.babyganics.com/products/moisturizing-daily-lotion-chamomile-verbena/
DeleteOoooo. I didn't realize that a sweepstakes for CLEANING products would be so tantalizin'. Yet, I would love to try these things because of the non-toxic and the all natural. You had me at "herbishy" ;)
ReplyDeleteVery interested in the cleaning spray. I have the messiest toddler at mealtime. Would be nice to find something that cleans well and is baby safe!!
ReplyDeleteReally interested in the dish soap, have had trouble finding a sudsy natural one.
ReplyDeleteI think the dish soap sounded good. Even though my youngest is 14, I still buy wipes in bulk, though, because they are handy to have!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I don't know if you read the Happy Housewife, but they just bought a house about 10 days ago and she is blogging the renovation. It might be nice to know someone else is experiencing similar things to you guys. :)
DeleteFace, Hand, and Baby wipes with all the craziness going around this season with germs and craziness. Thanks so much for the giveaway. And, with all the craziness, I've been wanting to crazy clean our home and the world. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOkay, my last comment seems to have been swallowed--I'm not trying to cheat by posting again!
ReplyDeleteThe lotion sounds the best to me, although the wipes also sound good. How effective is the cleaner? I've been using Freshana Eezee and Maxana (organic and microencapsulating) on tough stuff, which has been really good. I use Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day for more benign cleaning.
Hmmmm, I'm not sure if what I've been cleaning is tough or benign, but I did bring the spray as my main cleaner to the new house and have been really happy with it.
DeleteI want to try the wipes. I'm always disappointed with wipes.
ReplyDeleteVery interested in the spray cleaner ... my little guy would love to "help" clean and it would be great to let him without worrying about chemicals. :)
ReplyDeleteI use lotion all the time and I'd love to find a non-toxic one. My tweet is here: https://twitter.com/LaughJoyClaire/status/522821738158391296
ReplyDeleteLotion! Always love a good lotion. And the wipes sound good....particularly that the flap stays open. I'm pretty sure that's the kind of stuff that will get on my nerves when baby comes along...
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a toy/highchair cleaner.
ReplyDeleteI'm very interested in the wipes and the toy cleaner spray. Hmmm . . . I might have to check this out.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if all the product varieties are available at Target and how much they cost?
ReplyDeleteTarget does carry them! I would call ahead for inventory at your particular store, but you can see prices in the target site here: http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=babyganics&category=0|All|matchallpartial|all+categories&lnk=snav_sbox_babyganics :)

ReplyDeleteI have thought about those wipes more than a few times since I swiped one from you and I can pretty confidently say I will probably be buying some in the near future. ;) However, I am in need of a new baby lotion that is not stinky so I think I would want to try that.
ReplyDeleteThe toy & highchair cleaner spray is just what I've been looking for! We definitely have a counter-licking kiddo over here... If he could a) not poison himself and b) help clean up when he makes sticky messes all over the place, that would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the foaming dish and bottle cleaner!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at non-toxic cleaner!
ReplyDeletedish soap for sure!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the spray cleaner!
ReplyDeleteOoh, the cleaning spray sounds great.
ReplyDeleteThe babyganics clothing stain spray is awesome too says the mom of a 13 mo old!
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in the alcohol free hand sanitizer that does not smell like disgusting, overwhelming fruit. I can't deal with those smells, either!
ReplyDeleteAmen on not-too-smelly hand sanitizer!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the baby lotion. Too much fragrance on a baby is ick...poor thing they can't even run away or wash it off.
ReplyDeleteCute post, Dweeja! Thanks for your honesty. I'm interested in trying the spray cleaner for sure!
ReplyDeleteUgh, don't disqualify me because I spelled your name wrong! *cringe* sorry dear!
DeleteI would be interested in the lotion, especially after I would see the ingredient list. I've gotten pickier about our skin, so hopefully this is everything it sounds like, because it sounds great!
ReplyDeletePlease to experience joy of hand sanitizer. Less germs more happy effect. Grateful moment. :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously not perfumey? Or overwhelming? Because I ***so much*** dislike those. I would prefer all cleaning products to be unscented. Every one of them. And I think people who wear perfume in church should be forced to smell cow poop for an hour, even though I think cow poop smells way better than perfume. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteAnd this: https://twitter.com/phantomdiver/status/522907439730294787
So two entries, please!
My husband and one of my best friends (the one who remarked on the awesomeness of the wipes before she knew I was reviewing them) both have super noses and liked the smell of the sanitizer and the lotion. The spray and the wipes are truly smell-free which is remarkable. Only Cecilia has smell-tested the dishsoap, but it got her approval :)
DeleteThe dish soap and lotion and spray cleaner! Scent free is awesome and so is herbal tea scent.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the toy and highchair cleaner. I am embarrassed to admit that I never clean the toys :/
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the toy and high chair cleaner! My kids all seem to lose half of their food into their seats with each meal and I get behind on the clean up!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the foaming dish and bottle cleaner!

I am not a fan of hand sanitizer because they are either too fragrant or too drying, but I think I want to try that hand sanitizer after reading your review.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Can I use the wipes to clean my face of makeup???
ReplyDeleteI am going to HAVE to try that and let you know, Mitzi. That is genius!
DeleteI'd love to try the lotion. My little guy takes after me with the dry skin that gets really angry when we use anything too smelly or unnatural. Sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteI received the baby lotion in a sample bag from my Target baby registry and loved it. It's the only scented lotion I've found that doesn't make my son break out, and you're right it does smell like herbal tea. I would love to start trying their other products, hope I win!
ReplyDeletehrmm. I am torn. lotion..hand sanitizer,...we go through so much of both during the winter. Ima say lotion. It is more fun.
ReplyDeletePlus: huge bottle. Enormous. So it'll last longer!
DeleteI am really intrigued by the hand sanitizer!
ReplyDeleteAfter your description I think I need to smell the lotion.
ReplyDeleteOk Dwija, great review, except...
ReplyDeleteYou didn't say how the dish soap did on your Pyrex! So, how'd it clean?
Love Babyganics! I have that same lotion for my kiddos - it's awesome! I haven't tried any of the cleaning products, but now I'm intrigued :)
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the face, hand & baby wipes.

ReplyDeleteveggirlAThotmailDOTcom
I have not tried Babyganics, but the Face, Hand and Baby Wipes sound great!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought - the hand sanitizer! I use it all the time...we have a mega bulk size one on the changing table (that has lasted all 14 months of my son's life so far and is still going strong), but I cringe every time I use it. But after hearing about the spray cleaner...well, I'm reminded that I never clean his toys and only wipe off his highchair with a wet paper towel... :-/ Sounds like they are both worry-free products! I worry enough on my own without thinking about cleaning products, toxins and the like!
ReplyDeleteI really would like to try the baby lotion (for the whole family) as we too are eczema prone and I have a hard time finding lotion we can use. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the baby wipes! C's lil' bottom hates anything that isn't just water which doesn't work when we're out. Always on the lookout for a wipe good for sensitive tushies!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the cleaning spray. Normally I just mix vinegar and water in a spray bottle because it's non-toxic and cheap, but the smell can be a bit much...
ReplyDeleteThe toy and highchair spray sounds great. I usually just wipe that down with water and often don't think to clean with anything else.
ReplyDeleteIt's all so intriguing! I'm a little obsessed with cleaning my floors, though, so I'd start with the floor cleaner concentrate.
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the lotion as I like something that isn't greasy & the fragrance isn't over powering.
ReplyDeleteMy first comment got eaten! Ack!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need that toy/highchair spray. Also Chombie's thighs, but I'm guessing those aren't for sale. ;)
And I blogged about it here: http://clearingthesill.blogspot.com/2014/10/seven-quick-takes-apartment-hunting.html
DeleteI would love to try the foaming dish & bottle soap for my babies bottles, love the ingredients in this. Makes me feel great as a mom that I can trust great products like this.

ReplyDeleteNancy
We could definitely use the toy cleaner around here!
ReplyDeletechambanachik(at)gmail(dot)com
We need the hand sanitizer in Texas right about now.
ReplyDeleteWinter is coming...so I'd want to try the hand sanitizer and lotion!
ReplyDeleteI like the herbal lotion!
ReplyDeleteInterested in the hand sanitizer...nice that has a good smell.
ReplyDeleteThere was a sale on their wipes somewhere (Babies R Us maybe?) a few weeks back and our newbie is due any day, so I picked up a few packs and have pulled a few out for random wipe-downs - looking forward to testing them on "the real deal" (you know you're a seasoned mom when you're looking forward to poopy-diaper-product-testing!) - however I didn't realize they had cleaning products too. I'd be up for the lotion for winter as well. Thanks for sharing your tips!
ReplyDeleteLotion! I'm always looking for lotions that aren't greasy but actually work. And nice smelling is always nice. Non-toxic is awesome! (You laugh...but have you read the ingredient list on some lotions lately? *shudder*
ReplyDeleteI'd totally go for the wipes - we use cloth but sometimes a pack of disposable wipes sneaks into the rotation and it's kind of lovely actually having something that's *already* wet available! I used to pre-wet our cloth wipes and fold them inside a disposable wipes container... Then we had three more kids, and now they just end up in a clump on the changing table while I run to the bathroom to get them wet before someone climbs off the changing table! Really good mom, right here ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm most interested in the hand sanitizer since I am allergic to alcohol and it can be hard to find non-alcohol sanitizer! And also the baby wipes for upcoming baby #2. I have tried their sunscreen and really liked it!
ReplyDeleteHaving moved into a new house last month and expecting baby #6 this week I could totally use these! :) Hope the move goes well!
ReplyDeleteThe hand sanitizer first, then the lotion, then the baby wipes, finally the cleaning spray (only because I just totally stocked up on another brand this month). Especially the sanitizer. I hate the conventional stuff, but our kids seem to get the flu once a winter (sigh, I only got the flu twice in my LIFE) so this would be awesome-- and multiple bottles like you-- for every.where. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds amazing but I would be most interested in the travel-mini hand sanitizers.
ReplyDeletePlease and thank you!
i'd love to try the lotion for my self and son!
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/raggammuffin/status/523466513618325504
ReplyDeleteHand sanitizer and the high chair cleaner! Those look perfect.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in the face, hand & baby wipes (unscented); we have skin sensitivities in this house and can't use products with fragrance, love they are unscented and they look gentle.

ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/JewelWood/status/523526311910715393
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the bottle soap because I have yet to find something that truly exterminates the old milk smell in our sippy cups. ew!
ReplyDeleteThe lotion! I'm super picky about my lotion and the greasy factor (ugh) and the overly scented stuff (double ugh). I might have to try!
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in try the foaming dish & bottle soap in the citrus scent because I dislike chemicals and this would be a great alternative.

I enjoy how you speak my language. All your reviews of things? Totally what I need to know, dude. I freakin frackin hate getting my nails caught in the flap thing-y that keeps the baby wipes from GOING INTO MY HANDS so I can WIPE ALL THE POOP. Seriously. Also, I super hate the way most cleaning products, lotions, and hand sanitizers smell (like would rather just wipe my hands on my jeans or ask the neighbor's dog to lick them than put hand sanitizer on), so if your kiddos think it isn't stinky, I'm sold!! Thanks, Dwija for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteHmmm....I had a "fire drill" showing yesterday (1.5 hour notice, 5 baskets of clean laundry shoved into a van, and much frantic cleaning of all the things...then they had to reschedule), so my main question is this: does the dish soap smells nice enough to serve double duty as a room fragrance for last-minute showings? Ack! :) --Meredith P.

I am interested in the Babyganics moisturizing baby lotion for myself. I get very dry skin in winter and would love a gentle organic product to deal with it.

ReplyDeleteThe toy & highchair cleaner sound great
ReplyDeleteThe lotion is number one for me to try. I love lotions but so many have scents that are far too strong. I'd also like to try the wipes.

ReplyDeleteI am jealous that you got to try the stuff for free. But not jealous of your moving hassles. Because we're on a tight budget around here I was wondering if you would've bought all the babyganics stuff you received or cheated and gone for some that costs less but isn't necessarily as good for you and the environment.
ReplyDeleteI'd like the hand sanitizer!
