"Do you like my foot colored socks?"

This picture is a true story.  And that is not a tan line.

Friends, that is a dirt line, created by the fantastical wind+dirt+sweat+building retaining wall in super duper heat he participated in.  When the darling spouse got home from work yesterday I really almost laughed because he looked exactly like the chimney sweeps who roll out of the fire-place on Mary Poppins.

Sidenote: Tommy hates that movie with the burning passion of a thousand suns, and that particular scene is the worst of the worst of the worst.  So for me to compare him to them...well, he is a patient man for allowing me to take this photo, that's all I can say.

He's a good man, folks.  A good man.

    1. Hah! Musicals are the bane of his existence. If I was ever REALLY mad at him, I'd make him watch a marathon of musicals ABOUT musicals. That would teach him!

    2. Maybe a musical marathon would make babyunseen come! *evil laugh*

  4. I too hate hate hate musicals.
    Except for Annie.
    And Grease.
But those are art, not musicals, so they don't count.

    2. This is too funny! I can sing every word of every song of Grease. Every. Single. One.

    3. So many people love Grease. I've tried, really. But I hate it with the fire of a thousand burning suns.

      Too dramatic?

    6. I have a dear friend Kara who also hates musicals. Just checked to see if you were her. Negative. When I met her 14 years ago I found it so strange that she could hate them so much - but why?! Slowly I started to see their silliness ...but...

As a former musical junkie, I now hold them at a cautious distance but every once in awhile the musical mood takes hold and watch out - momma is singing, dancing and leaping through the house - now that my oldest is turning 4 he's starting to catch on that mom is pretty crazy...:) But once you've been in a show (ahem...or watched it 1637 times...) those lyrics are burned in the brain!

Dwija - if your baby is like his/her daddy, perhaps piping some Mary Poppins soundtrack into the bump will make that baby want out stat!

    2. Oh. Um... Yeah okay. :)
However, consider yourself (and your other half) warned that you are dealing with some Musical lovin' people here. High school drama FTW. We could break out into song at any minute.

  8. My husband gets those lines too - but they actually are tan lines! He just tells people he stepped in a bucket of bleach. Praying your delivery goes swiftly and everyone is healthy!

  9. What a sport he is to allow you to publicly embarrass him. :) He must really love you. Lots.

  10. That's classic! In my rock picking days of my youth, I remember taking off articles of clothing and seeing those dirt lines- those days you knew you were going to sleep well after a hard day's work!
And WHAT?? No musicals?? Mary Poppins has become a recent fav for my 5 yr. old,- especially that song which he thinks he can dance to very well. It's especially funny to see my 18 month old try to mimic it. Step in time, STep in time--it never really gets out of your head...

  11. I sooooo thought that was a tan line...LMAO Husband works outside, so his feet always have the sock tan line and I can't help but poke fun at him. That must've been some wall..lol

  12. I hate Mary Poppins too, and I cannot tell you why. I love musicals, but Mary Poppins makes me want to stab my eyes out.

That's an impressive amount of dirt.

  13. WHAT? Marry Poppins is the best movie, ever. If he really wants to get his hate on, have him try reading the book. MP is rather.... mean and vain. Hahah. Now go have your baby so I can win the pool!

  14. That's DIRT? I totally thought it was a tan line! Charee Chim Charoo for reals!

  15. Mary Poppins is, hands down, my fave movie of alllll time. Grease is up there, too. I have managed to instill a love of all musicals/Broadway into my children to the extent that they tend to annoy even me with their musical watching...

  16. I believe your just getting shin splints. They're normal to get for runners as I always used to get them in middle school when I did track, they got so bad I couldn't continue on in high school.
