They just get it, man (7qt)

A Picture You Haven't Seen

World's most good natured baby + house full of shenanigan-loving older siblings = .......

"Oh, hello.  Can I help you, mother?"

Around the interwebz

Notes from medieval scribes (literally and for real!)

Jenny's most excellent news

The Fountains of Carrots Podcast
(you guys.  I listen to their interviews and I keep wanting to jump right into the conversation and it really makes me wish I had a book or something to promote so that I could justify asking to be a guest on their show.  It is so stinkin' enjoyable to listen to.  And I have never listened to any other podcasts ever.)

Homeschool Trickery

While you're driving say "right now we're traveling north.  Tell me what direction we're driving in when I turn!" Or level up to "do you know which direction we're traveling?  How can you tell?"  Or before you go somewhere new, let them look at the map with you.  "Here is our house, and here is where we're going.  So, that's south west and we should probably take this road, don't you think?"

On The Table

Friday- veggie and cheese omelets
Saturday- pasta with red sauce
Sunday-roast turkey (this is a true story.  T got one right before Christmas vacation from his employer and I was all "no."  But then I was all "okay" and so he cooked it up real good like)
Monday- crustless turkey pot pie bowls created by starting with this recipe and pouring leftover gravy over all of it.
Tuesday-a version of this Anniversary Chicken recipe with sauteed asparagus on the side
Wednesday-this pasta with creamy garlic sauce +peas+ turkey meat with cornbread muffins (this was a scrape-the-bottom-of-the-fridge-and-pantry day)
Thursday-slow cooker bbq pulled pork, homemade sweet potato fries, herb rolls

En La Casa

The laundry room saga continues.  And there really isn't even a saga.  It's know what it's like.  I'm not putting the rest of life on hold whilst I work on this so it's taking forever.  That's pretty much it.  But that's really good because my natural tendency is to completely neglect all my other responsibilities so we can get to that After pic because RESULTS ORIENTED ALL THE THINGS.

But oh, did you see how cute the colors are going to be in there???
Soon and very soon, we are going to be done...(sing it with me now, friends!) soon and very soon, we are going to be done.  Soon and very soon we are gooooooooooooing to be done.  Hallelujah, hallelujah, we are going to be done.

  1. Love the colours of the laundry room.
I think you should definitely be a guest on an upcoming podcast! Id love to listen to anything you want to talk about!
    Haley? Christy? Are you listening??

  2. The colors in that laundry room are so cheery and pretty!

BTW that link for "Jenny's most excellent news" is actually going to the medieval manuscript notes web page.

    1. Thank you!!! I do that at least twice a day. I'm so lame. Fixed!

  3. Love Paul's comment - my kids now answer "God Knows" and "God Cares" to the rhetorical questions "who knows?" and "who cares?" - right on. :)

  4. Ooh, that baby is just too cute! Love the practicing compass directions in the car! My 8 year old would love to play that! I'd never heard of eBates. Thanks. Kids really do get it. When do they lose it, I wonder?

  5. Cozy wittle gwuvs! Awwwww, she is so cute!

And I'm with you on the homeschool trickery. Turns out I tricked my kids that way all the time, but we didn't homeschool them. Rosie learned those tricks, though, and she is tricking her kids with a vengeance. Ha! Trickery will be visited on my descendants unto the seventh generation!

  6. We get a turkey each year from Mike's work too. And I'm all, "Ugh. Did you guys think MIKE was going to cook that?" And then I'm like, "For crying out loud, Jenna. Grateful much?" I'm going to cook it this year! Or at least invite someone over who will cook it - like my mom...

  7. Thanks Dwija! You're the sweetest and thank you for listening!
We can definitely make a podcast happen, because I would talk to you about paint drying, like that paint in your laundry room - which I LOVE!!

  8. I am diggin' your door! Can't wait to see the after pics.

  9. Love the colors you chose! So... spring-like. Squish that baby for me!

    The Starving Inspired

  10. He looks like Mary! I think you've mentioned before that she is also a laid back, easy going child. :)

  11. LMAO soon and very soon. I am just dying over that song!!!!!!! Its always like, I want to sing the song because this is mass and praise God and all the rest but we are a bunch of raggedy and mostly old white people. For realz. It's just a bit silly
