So today he has mowed the lawn, added a new door to a wall of the chicken coop inside the barn, applied to another job, online, and made a fence using the old paneling that used to be in the west side of our kitchen. Meanwhile I took the kids to the big girls' (free) piano lessons, hauled them to church to volunteer a bit organizing books and supplies for this year's CCD program, and managed to get an unwilling child to write down what the dang factors of 18 are.
Aside: Just because something isn't FUN doesn't mean you should never do it. Doing things that are hard makes you stronger. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. End rant.
We also read a bit about wigwams in preparation for our (free) field trip to the Kalamazoo Nature Center tommorrow and picked a bag of fall pole beans from our garden.
But do I have pictures of any of that? No sir! Well, yes on the fence, but they're still on the camera and I have precious little time to write this, my friends...SO WHYARE YOU STILL RAMBLING, DWEEJ???
I don't know.
So here are is an unrelated photo that I feel obliged to share with you.
If you would like an exercise in not being a control freak, ask your older daughters to help your 4 year old son get dressed when they are in one of those moods that makes you wonder if they've got a coffee iv hidden in their bedrooms.
He wanted to go to the library like this. Wearing an infant sized bib and a pair of cowGIRL boots.
Oh yes they are girl boots! Just look...
He says they are awesome "kicker" boots and he needs them to do karate.
Sweet boots!
ReplyDeleteSometimes ya gotta pick your battles. At least he's dressed & happy!
ReplyDeleteIs the bib for the blood splatter after the kicking?
ReplyDeleteI heart those boots :)
ReplyDeleteThat boy is sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteHAAAAhahahahahahahaha....that is all :)
ReplyDeleteWhy is your van so clean? This instantly puts a big black check in the "SUSPICIOUS" column.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteWell duh! What else are awesome kicker boots for other than karate?
ReplyDelete@Cari- Hahahaha! I had LITERALLY just cleaned it out the day before. Two bags of trash and crumbs and foam sea creatures that had been glued to ugly projects. True story!
ReplyDeleteThe boy is a total character, for real you guys :)
@Cari: LOL
ReplyDelete@TriGirl: that pretty much sums it up
factors of 18?? I'm not even sure I know exactly what that means! Homeschooling must be tough stuff! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove them boots!!
ReplyDeleteI love your son! He sounds a lot like mine. I think they'd be good friends, LOL. They could kick around in their boots together - although my four year old's are dinosaur rain boots and he wears them with shorts and no shirt.
ReplyDeleteRock it, little man.
Oh my goodness, what kids don't come up with. Well, at least your girls helped him get dressed...AND you'll have this picture of him wearing girl's boots for blackmail in his teenage years ;)
ReplyDeleteHave you guys looked into substitute tea thing as an income supplement for this waiting time? Also, in our state, bus drivers make a little money and get health insurance. just a suggestion. praying doors open soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Paula. Your prayers mean so much! Once he gets all the applications in and gets all the "chores" done, we'll look further into the waiting jobs :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome style little man :)
ReplyDeleteWell yeah, you can't do karate without kicker boots!
ReplyDeleteI love those boots! Where can I get me some of those?! haha. Then your son and I can have a karate book kick off!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure why you haven't mentioned this, but you are up for a very prestigous anti-award at The Crescat blogspot dot com. You are nominated for "Most Hifreakinlarious" and I think you should win handsdown! Everyone go vote for Dwija and all your other favorite catholic blogs!
ReplyDeleteBwahahaha... karate boots. Why didn't I think of that? Awesomeness.
ReplyDelete@Emily- I was totally not aware of that. How exciting! I'll have to mosy over and check it out :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the boy is quite prepared for any surprise ninja attacks, so you guys can all stop worrying about that.
Ah, sibling love, especially when it comes to fashion is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteSending out my prayers to the universe for you guys. :)
I think any little boy with older sisters is destined to run around in feminine clothing. My brother used look great in a tutu. ;)
ReplyDeleteBahahahahah! I feel your pain, Dwija. You know we have some interesting clothing experiences around my house as well.
ReplyDeleteSo, did you let him wear them out then?
