My very own dog photo bomb {wiws}

doggy photo bomb
I totally love this sweater but am not stoked with this picture.  I'll spare the litany of things that are wrong with it in favor of saying: 50 degrees!  No coats!  Woo hoo!

Dolman sleeve sweater, directly inspired by Beth (although hers features some sweet chevron stripes, which are glorious): Sonoma via Kohl's (clearance rack)

Skinnies: generic brand from teenybopper store 5 years ago

STRAIGHT HAIR: via my hair now getting too long to be properly curly but too short to straighten itself.  I had to hit it with the flattening iron.  *must schedule haircut pronto*

Necklace: made last night by yours truly.  Nice and ghetto, just like I promised

Earrings:  Avon.  Not joking.  They actually have really great cheap stuff!

Boots: Croft and Barrow via Kohls.

Nails: WORST. NAIL COLOR. EVER.

Hey, the Gospel reading was yet another tear jerker (surprise surprise).

I don't talk about my dad much on this blog (who does, really?) because for some reason I imagine him reading it someday (I wish he would and pray he never does.  That makes sense, I know.) and I don't want it to be....weird.  But anyway.  Whenever I hear the story of the prodigal son I can't help but wonder if it's ever possible that my dad would come back to his family and to the Church the way that man so dramatically did.  I mean, other people do it all the time, but I just don't feel like I can allow myself to consider the possibility.  And when I do, as I did this morning, it is v.v.v.v. hard to keep the emotions in check.

Anyway.  Blah blah blah, pray for my dad, m'kay?  Thank you!

  1. When it is 50 degrees here (FL) everyone is wearing gloves, ha ha! I am also incredibly jealous of all the fabulous boots I keep seeing.

  2. Prayers for your dad! My parents read mine but I've been told they just stop reading when I write about being Catholic. Which made me all "awww... that's half the reason I write my blog in the first place!!!!"

When I felt an actual "warm" wind today I hoped it was warming up where you are too, and by the looks of the lack of snow in the background it seems like it is! Yay for spring approaching!

  3. I LOVE the red and turquoise combo. It's always one of my favorites. You know, Dweej, never say never. I'm a convert and my parents - while supportive of me joining the church - never expressed an interest in Catholicism. Until last summer. They're joining the church at Easter and I cannot believe it.

  4. Missed the reading c/o a maniacal 1 year old who insists on climbing pews (and can actually do it!). But I'm in your same boat. I never can blog about my dad because I fear he has found the blog through my brothers and probably secretly keeps up. I wouldn't be surprised if he printed photos of the kids to show friends so that he doesn't sound like a selfish ignoramus. But I always feel tempted to write about him because I know there are probably many others who are in the same situation!!

And the outfit is gorgeous. I think the sweater photographed well and I like how it fits! Brooke Dietel generously offered to take me thrifting so I can figure out how to look swanky like the rest of you!! I managed to wear a dress to church but didn't realize it was folded up on the bottom and in desperate need of an iron (donthaveone). But if you ignored the fold, it wasn't half bad. I'm getting there :)

  5. You made that necklace? Shut yo mouth! That is awesome! It look great!

Very nice photobombing skills your dog has! Mine are always in my picture but have yet to get the perfect 'bomb' down. :)

  6. Oh I know what you mean regarding your dad (except my dad was never Catholic). We had the readings for the scrutinies today and one of the prayers was about "these children whom you (Lord) have called." All I could think was "please call my parents soon" as unlikely as it seems!

  7. Dweej, that Gospel reading hits me differently every time , and I always marvel that God is showing me another aspect of it that I hadn't previously seen. All the different main characters and looking at the situation from each perspective....blows me away every single time.

You know I'm praying for your dad. Love you!

  12. There's SNOW in the background and you have NO COAT! You're hardcore! Keep the faith - my bezzie came to Christ after 10+ years of prayer on my part and adamant 'NO' on hers...

  13. LOVE the necklace!! Don't dog yourself sista!

Oh yes...I will "totes" (as you and the cool cats are sayin' these days) pray for your Dada. I'll even offer up some of my measly (but still) sufferings.

P.S. Your pup is super cute.

  17. Ahh..at least I'm not the only one who practically started blubbering during the Gospel. Oh and then again during the anointing of the sick. I was A MESS this morning. Stoooopid hormones.

  18. Prayers!!! (Tearing up just thinking about it....don't even know the story.) I had a similar experience - as the DRE I had 5th graders all around me so I only allowed myself to be internally emotional w/a baby bit of tear-sting-water, but I was thinking of all the people I know (close to me) who are angry at the Church, bitter, lost, etc - and imagining what if all of them came home? And letting myself be vulnerable to that hope. It's amazing how the usual state would be the opposite for me - assuming not, even though I pray for it. The true hope, imagining the possibility, is too much for every day - but I'm seeing it's important to "go there" in these moments. Wow. Prayers for your Dad.

  25. 1st, the necklace is awesome, great job...so cut it out!!!!! It rocks, you should make another for a giveaway...hinty hint hint...
2nd..2nd blog today mentioning the Prodigal son reading and I'm like "I know I was listening and I know I didn't hear that today", so of course I'm thinking you are all smoking something before Mass...maybe incense....and then I double check the USCCB, b/c I'm having insomnia and lo and behold....we had the Year A Scrutinies reading...aha....mystery solved. I bet you love that I felt led to tell you that.
    Anywho...praying for your dad. praying.

  26. Ah I hate the flat iron! Because I can never get my hair to look nice and shiny and I have to fight my colic so much. I just have bad hair. Yours looks great! Love the necklace too. Not sure I understand what the situation with your dad is, but hoping the best for you.

  27. Definitely not a ghetto necklace! So impressed. I love turquoise, especially in summer, and now you're inspiring me to go bead shopping, too! I'll say some prayers for your dad and your family =)

  28. Your dad has my prayers...You know those things in life that sound too crystal-clearly wonderful to come true? Those are longings that come from the heart of the Father of us all.

And I love your necklace! You are a woman of many talents!

  29. Your hair looks luh-ovely all straightened, but I do hate straightening my hair, so I know the feeling.

And I do like the necklace very much- sort of a fun play on the "bubble necklace" trend that started and won't go away (thanks a lot, J. Crew).

    Prayers for your pops. <3+
