In the garden. Out of the garden.

Have you heard the one about the guy that spent his entire Saturday working in the yard, spreading compost, digging garden beds, mowing lawns and transplanting seedlings?  And then finished off the day by making an incredible, amazing, fantastic crazy-gourmet dinner for 10 people?  It's a good one.

Sorry ladies.  He's mine!  Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall mine!  Bwahahahahaha!

Wanna see his handy work?  You know it.

The Back Garden

the beginning of the herb section- oregano, thyme, chives, lemon balm

bell peppers and jalapenos (seedlings started from seeds indoors by same superhusband)

tomatoes!  tomatoes!  glorious tomatoes! (will you just LOOK at those starts?)

The Front Garden

leaf lettuce

red onions

Not pictured because they've been planted but haven't grown yet  (inconsiderate vegetables!):

yellow squash

Not pictured because I've neglected to get them into the ground yet (bad garden lady!):

Yukon gold potatoes

Whew!  That took longer than I thought.  Guess we'll have to wait 'til tomorrow to hear about the bizarrely delicious dinner we enjoyed.  Oh my gosh it was good.

Okay fine- a little sneak peek.  Then you wait!

  1. I'm guessing beef burgandy?

What a keeper that hubby of yours is!

  2. Yum. Yum. Yum. What a nice hubby!

  3. I love starting things from seed. I get such satisfaction from it!

  4. Lovely pics from a lovely weekend!

  5. That is so awesome. I wish we had room for a garden!

P.S. I love oregano, but I have found the plant to be horrifically invasive (like, it will take over YOUR ENTIRE GARDEN and THEN the rest of your yard). It might be better to put that particular herb in a pot!

  6. Wow! I haven't even started my very modest herb garden! You go girl!

  7. Hmmm...maybe we need a "Tommy's Terrific Recipes" cookbook. Aren't veggie gardens glorious?

  8. Everything about this post is heartwarming - can't wait to find out more about what is simmering in the pot in the last photo, looks amazing!

  9. Great job, Tommy! Are the marigolds just for pretty, or do they keep deer away?

  10. A front garden AND a back garden? Totally jealous!

  11. SO exciting! Look at all that fresh greenyness!
But oh -- beware the lemon balm! It will cheerfully take over your garden if you let it! (But it does smell heavenly...)

  12. Very effectively written. Thanks for this service that you have provided for us to have the ability to fresh our minds.

  13. I envy those guys who have a life after weekend and doing some stuff on their backyard or planting flowers in their garden. I always dream of that someday I will be able to do this kind of thing or even take care of orchids. But as of now what I can do is just settle down on Condo for rent in Singapore. Hope I will be able to buy a landed house in the future and do these things.
