March Birthdays 2014 (Photos. So. Many. Photos.)

Little Miss fancy pants Cecilia has finally turned 4, which of course means she's hitchhiking to get her driver's license as we speak.

don't forget party nails and party menu, courtesy of same

and party decorations!  a shot of the covert party maker in action.

sipping her homemade strawberry milkshake, advising her brother on his menu choices

official cake bringer bringing the cake.  And by "cake" I mean "fruit tarte of deliciousness"

"you can have dessert after you put your jammies on." Pro-tip.  You're welcome.

However good this looks, the real thing was even better.  SO GOOD DYING OF GOODNESS.

Actual reaction to receiving a pair of sunglasses. Easy to please.

And two days later, our sweet Katy turned the big 13.  Which means she's thinking about maybe asking Ceci if she can have a ride to the library once she gets home with that driver's license.

her cake pick this year: chocolate with vanilla frosting and fresh strawberries

Paul decided to give her a present of his own accord.  Witness: her  own well loved copy of Anne of Green Gables, returned.  And a toy egg.  Hey, at least he knows what she likes, right?

not posed.  sibling love.  We're so grateful that God has allowed the gift of siblings in our lives.

If this were just a little sharper, pretty sure it could be the next marketing photo for Bushnell binoculars.  And Gap stripey shirts. And Servus rubber boots.  And all denim from anyone.  And for teeth.  And brown hair. What an exceptional human being she is.

  3. The paper chain! I made so many construction paper chains as a kid. I can't even tell you. So many! I love the site's new look, especially this font. Yum.

    1. One of my many cheap n lazy parenting hacks: buy huge stacks of construction paper and then close my eyes. "lalalalala...I can't see you wasting all that paper...."

  4. This is a beautiful post! The last pic/caption made my heart hurt because (a) innocence and goodness of young people and (b) authentic expression of your true admiration for the person who is your daughter. Such a neat collage of personalities in your home, beautiful harmony and diversity. You are blessed! :)

  7. Tell Katy (Katie? Caytee?) that next time I'm there, I'll press gang my friend Andy into taking us on a bird tour. He has more birds on his life list than she and I will ever have, combined.

  14. Jealous, I haven't got my March birthday pics posted yet! We have 3 kids with March birthdays (plus mine), so lots of pictures to choose from. Your oldest is officially a "teenager" now, congrats! My oldest turns 14 in a few weeks and he went through a bird watching phase, he still enjoys it but now he's more into fishing (must be a boy thing).
