So a few weeks before Mr. Chombie was born (have I explained how Chombie became his nickname? Charlie the Burrowing Wombat became Chombat the Wombat which became Chombie Wombie which became just Chombie for short because that's super normal), when Freya of Cotton & Laden was all "Hey, do you want a special treat that will help your baby not to punch himself in the face?", I responded with a most enthusiastic "I am want all the treasures this very instant!"
And lickety split an absolutely adorable weighted blanket arrived in the mail.
My sweet boy at 8 days old with his magic blanket |
Like all baby blankets, these provide warmth and comfort. But our weighted blankets help soothe your little ones and keep them sleeping longer. Use these when your baby is ready to sleep as a gentle transition to nap times and bed times. The light and evenly distributed weight acts like a mother's hand on your baby's chest and keeps your baby feeling cozy. (read more here)
Geeeee. Neeeeee. Us.
The blanket is really well made, the fabric has a high thread count for durability, and it's really easy to care for: machine wash, tumble dry. Super-dee-duper important, friends. SUPER.DEE.DUPER.
11 days old staring at the lions that are aaaaalmost out of frame. This pic is not really helpful but I wanted 3 and isn't he presh? |
And you wanna know something that is tres, tres, tres amazing? Probably the most amazing part of this entire enterprise? Freya's business is not-for-profit. All money, aside from operating costs, is donated to Save the Storks, a beautiful pro-life organization that provides mobile medical units which offer free pregnancy tests and ultrasound services to women.
I know. Big wow.
2.5 months old, still rockin' his C&L |
Now I've never not had this blanket with this baby, but he really is an incredibly good napper when we use it. And as of last week last week, he's been sleeping for (here comes the jinxing, I just know it) eight entire hours (!!!). In a row (!!!). During the night (!!!).
I can't make promises, people, but you know it can't hurt to try.
Wanna get yourself one of these lovely blankets? Wanna get one for someone else? Wanna order one just so Freya can make another donation to Save the Storks? Snatch one up at Cotton & Laden and use code chombieonthe8th for free shipping.

ReplyDeleteAll the patterns! I love them aallllll!
ReplyDeleteHe is a-DOR-able! And delicious. I want to gobble him. And kiss him. And cuddle and love him and call him Chombie with complete knowledge of his nickname's back story.

ReplyDeletePurple flowers for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like the gray and white chevron print.
ReplyDeleteThe purple flowers are the cutest, followed by the lions.
ReplyDeleteThe bikes are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI am one of those reads-but-never-comments kinda people, but I suppose this is a good excuse to finally comment! I very much enjoy reading your blog. I find it hilarious and inspiring. We are Catholic (both converts) and aspire to have a garden, chickens and homeschool our kids...although, we only have one 1 year old so far, so I guess we've got some time. :-) Never too early to learn a few tricks! Thanks for continuing to put yourself out there and share your thoughts and experience!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like the Bikes the best :-)
Those rain boots are so fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the gentle stripes!
ReplyDeleteSo torn. The bike print is cute, but I think my favorite is "Perfectly Perched".
ReplyDeleteThose look like a great idea! We did something similar for our middle son who had colic/reflux and such and it really helped him after he outgrew the swaddle to still have a heavy blanket over him to stop that mean startle reflex where he'd punch himself in the face. And what a great company, thanks for telling us about it!
ReplyDeleteThe bike pattern is super cute.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I am not seeing my comment so I'm trying one more time, even though I'm sure the other one will inevitably show up right next to this later...the lion blanket is so cute but I also love the gentle stripes for a girl!
ReplyDeleteGentle stripes for the gender neutral win :-)
ReplyDeletePerfectly perched is soooooo adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove the rain boots and the chevron!
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me. Numero five is due any day, and I'll do anything to jump on the sleeps more bandwagon. Your little one is really selling those lions, but I might have to say the gentle stripes is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI like the grey dots pattern :)
ReplyDeleteI really like Perfectly Perched!
ReplyDeleteI'm going against the tide here and saying that the Happy Horses are super cute.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I so wish I'd had one of these for my ridiculously startly baby when he was wee. But he is 9 months now and STILL doesn't sleep, so.
I love the Happy Horses pattern!
ReplyDeletegentle stripes!
ReplyDeletethe perfectly perched pattern is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI like the lions and the Chevron. Love this idea.
ReplyDeleteIf I win, I'm giving this to my godparents' daughter, who just had her fourth child. I think the stork pattern is super cute.
ReplyDeleteThis blanket- SO SMART!! We are battling the transition from rock and play to crib with my 4 month old, and this could be the answer and saving grace for my sanity! I am torn between the bicycle pattern and polka dots!! Oh so cute!

ReplyDeleteThose Gentle Stripes are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI guess I like the lions, because that seems to be the only one that has more than one blanket available, and I'd hate to prefer something that would so easily be unavailable. But the lions are definitely cute!
