So, if yesterday was-
Wait a second.
If yesterday was...
Ohmysweetbabyjeezus.
Ohysweetlittle8pound6ouncebabyjeezusinhisflaxendiaper!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where is my paper bag? Where is my easy button? Where is my really loud SOS alarm bell thingy?
BECAUSE I NEED ALL THREE OF THOSE THINGS!
You guys, we're starting our homeschooling
Okay, seriously...if you're panicking like me or even if you're not, check out this site: Lesson Pathways . Even if you're not homeschooling and just want some great ideas for projects and activities for the evenings and weekends, you will LOVE it. Grade level lesson suggestions and copious links by subject matter for free. Free is one of my best friends in the world!
And since we're talking about free, I think I forgot to tell you about the sweet flower arranging class hosted by the local garden club that my girls participated in last week .
Now they're all "Here mom, let me show you how to put those flowers in that vase. I mean I am professionally trained after all" and I'm all "Well la-di-da! Aren't you fancy?" and they're all "Um...yes?"
Happy Labor Day to the 12 people who are going to read this! Since it's Labor Day and who reads blogs on Labor Day, anyway! Notice how I'm using my favorite punctuation mark in excess just to make your day brighter!
I do! And the flowers look awesome! Hurray for long weekends! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou'll be awesome, Dweej!
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor Day!!!! (whoa, lot's of exclamation marks)
ReplyDeleteThe flowers arrangements are lovely! CHEERS!
i'm here, i'm here! reading blogs on labor day, that's me! best of luck tomorrow. you'll do great.
ReplyDeleteI'm here on Labor Day, too!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with homeschooling! Can't wait to read your adventures!
I LOVE to read blogs on Labor Day!! It keeps me from freaking out that my school is starting tomorrow, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flower arrangers and ---ments. Good luck to you and your class.
ReplyDeleteYour adventures always turn out great!
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, we started school three weeks ago, did about a week and a half, went on several trips, and maybe kinda are going to start again on Thursday, but oh yeah, the 5th grader doesn't have 3/4th of her books, the 2nd grader is supposed to make First Holy Communion this year and I doubt he could even make it through 15 minutes of Mass, and the 3 and 4 year old are supposed to start "preschool", but mostly I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to allow them to further revert to a feral state.
ReplyDeleteAll this, of course ignores the baby, and the house, and the cooking, and the laundry, and and and.
But, since we're at the half decade mark of homeschooling, I'm not too worried. As long as I remember that I'm doing this in light of eternity and not the world, I'm fine.
Best of luck to you, Dweej!
I am on here! A fellow exclamation point user!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are gonna have a great year! Let me know if you need some support in bloggy world!
ReplyDeleteNice flowers. I never have enough to actually arranged. You can only put 3 daisies in a jar so many ways...
ReplyDeleteHey look, unless I hit post comment just after someone else, I am comment 12. Close this post for comments so you look more sage.
ReplyDeleteOkay, about the teach thing. Get over it. I'd smack you theatrically if we were closer (aren't you glad we're not?)
You can do this. Websites aren't the be all to end all. Sometimes we good teachers just know what's right for our kids.
Surround yourself with apple knick-knacks (I call it apple crap and purge it as soon as I get any), and you'll be all set.
I feel you with the paper bag thing, and I don't even homeschool yet!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with homeschooling!
p.s. I'm loving your blog:)
Ha! I'm your 14th commenter...what? I couldn't stay away from blogging ALL DAY!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your first day of school...I know it will be FANTASTIC!! I can't wait to hear all about it :)
Take your kids to Target tomorrow and teach them how to save money on a laundry basket!
ReplyDeletewell I guess since I am number 16 that means more than 10 people have red this already. I know why I am reading this, cause soup is cooked (crock pot broth) and dh is making the kiddos grilled cheese. Oops we have no bread. How did that happen? Guess he will have to use the fancy rolls we have.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with school, guess you don't have to pack lunches, so don't worry about the no food in the house.
Yay! So glad this journey is beginning, Dweej! I can't wait to read all about it with copious amounts of exclamation points and the occasional INDULGENCE IN THE SHIFT KEY!
ReplyDeleteLooks like there were more than 12 people who read this!!!!!!!!!!! See I know how to use that exclamation mark too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No worries about no groceries. Since your girls are professional flower arrangers perhaps they can use their new skills to forage for edible ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm here Dweej! Happy Labor Day to you and good luck with the homeschooling, I give you props.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be great! Your kids are lucky to have you. I use a lot of exclamation points as well. It is a sign of intelligence.
ReplyDeleteThe flower arrangements are beautiful. Get used to the "I'm an expert" thing. When Miguel got a 5 on his AP American History test (the highest score possible) he replied to Charles when asked to empty the garbage: "Do I really have to empty the garbage? After all, I AM extremely well qualified in American History!". Yup, and yup! Good luck tomorrow!
Ha! Apparently LOTS of people read blogs on Labor Day. Are you sure you should be homeschooling? ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow! You are already stronger and braver than me because I am too scared to ever consider homeschooling!
I read it and I thought it was very enjoyable :) Beautiful pictures and you will be absolutely fine!!
ReplyDeleteI am way too scared to try homeschooling! Also? I love exclamation points!! (See?)
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK! You will do great, and the kids will do great. Can't wait to hear all about your first big day!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the adventure. I bet it'll be fun! We're out of groceries too. What's up with that?
ReplyDeleteHats off to all the homeschoolers! In a million years I couldn't even begin to do it, we would all lie in bed and read everyday rather than actually do any work. Good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing all about it. The mister and I have always thought we'd like to learn (or re-learn) along with the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteyou will do great and I spy a very important math lesson the first day of school when you go grocery shopping....(aka budgeting and using percentages to guesstimate tax) GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you guys. RIGHT after I wrote this, my laptop totally died. CAPUT! It was terrible and atrocious and awful.
ReplyDeleteBut it has been RESURRECTED, I tell you. Back from the day, here in my hot little hands. And I am just dying to tell you all about our first two days. For REALZ.
Happy Labor Day (two days later!) and I'm super jealous of your girls' mad skillz with with flower arranging. They're obviously naturals!
ReplyDeleteOh, and good luck with homeschooling!
